I'll be writing about Harry Potter and maybe Buffy. I will not be one of those authors who'll hold their story hostage for reviews, or post a bloody irritating author note instead of a chapter. Hopefully you'll like my writing style. Some of it is dialogue heavy and some of it is narrative heavy. Maybe I might just find the right blend as I go, and, hopefully improve as a writer.
When it comes to writing stories for Harry Potter, I'll focus more on the relationship between Ron and Hermione. They are far more interesting than Harry and Ginny, and are the main couple of the entire series. I actually had a reviewer stating that they could not and would not read a story where Ron and Hermione would be depicted as the main couple, so by that reckoning they won't read the books anymore either. Let me state that Ron and Hermione are the main couple for the entire series as they are TWO of the THREE major characters in said books. In the books, Ginny is only a minor character, and is depicted in the films as almost insignificant.
Furthermore, when it comes to my Harry Potter stories, they will feature a competent, cool and intelligent Ron Weasley, if this is not to your liking, then I suggest that you fuck off and hit the back button now because I am not the author for you.
For Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, I'll be writing either Buffy/Xander or Faith/Xander stories, and if you want to know why see further down my profile for my opinions of the 'ships in Buffy: The Vampire Slayer.
As of 6/3/2015, I have written 20 stories, 5 in progress and 15 complete! Not bad for a bloke who would get Writer's Block while writing a text message, so yay me!
TO ANYONE WHO READS MY STORIES, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO KEEP REVIEWING (POSITIVELY) EVEN IF I ALREADY HAVE 52 REVIEWS FOR A STORY, THANK YOU.
The other cool stuff I like/love are:
Actors/Actresses: (in no particular order) Sir Sean Connery, Alan Rickman, Clint Eastwood, Ralph Fiennes, Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Daniel Craig, Robert De Niro, Tommy Lee Jones, Harrison Ford, Johnny Depp, Al Pacino, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis (RIP), Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Patrick Stewart, Martin Sheen, John Cusack, Bruce Campbell (in Burn Notice), Julia Roberts, Allison Janney, Sharon Stone (in Casino), Sigourney Weaver, Emma Watson, Dame Judi Dench, Dame Helen Mirren, Dame Maggie Smith, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence to name a few.
Books: Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, The Saxon Stories and the Sharpe novels by Bernard Cornwell (I've met him), The Robert Langdon Stories by Dan Brown, The James Bond novels of Ian L. Fleming. I have also read Devil May Care by Sebastian Faulks, and I liked that too. I started Carte Blanche by Jeffery Deaver, but I haven't finished it yet, (it's on my To Do list,) but then again, so is reading the Kathy Reichs Bones series, and The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. I recently finished the Hunger Games Trilogy, and I loved it, can't wait for the next film!
Films: James Bond film franchise, Harry Potter film franchise, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Star Trek film franchise (hate the first film, loved Star Trek XI, but First Contact is still my favourite), Ghostbusters 1&2 (No matter how old I am, I'll never grow out of Ghostbusters!), The Terminator Films (1 & 2 only, as 3 & Salvation don't count as they were NOT directed by James Cameron). Dirty Harry films, Lethal Weapon series, Die Hard series, Casino, Casablanca, The Count of Monte Cristo (2002), Grosse Pointe Blank, and the Batman Dark Knight Trilogy, to name a few. Watching the Evil Dead Trilogy with Bruce Campbell is on my "To Watch" list.
Music: U2, Oasis, Classical Music, namely: Bach, Beethoven, Wagner, Holst, Karl Jenkins, Ludovico Einaudi, to name a few. I also enjoy Movie Scores by John Barry (I've practically grown up on his music), John Williams, David Arnold, and Hans Zimmer.
Sport/Teams: American Football: Oakland Raiders. Soccer: Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich, Germany. Ice Hockey: Toronto Maple Leafs. Rugby League: Wigan Warriors. Baseball: Oakland Athletics. I also enjoy Boxing, Tennis, Golf and Pro Wrestling. (Naitch, HBK, HHH and 'Taker rule, with Orton, Cena, Bryan and Sheamus the best of the full-timers in my opinion).
Television: 1, Burn Notice. 2, NCIS. 3, The West Wing. 4, Frasier. 5, Monk. 6, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer. Monday Night Raw, Thursday Night Smackdown, Star Trek: TNG, Star Trek: Enterprise, Scrubs, Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares USA, Only Fools and Horses, Fawlty Towers, Blackadder, Bottom, The Young Ones, Diagnosis: Murder, Inspector Morse, Lewis (Spin-off from Morse), Strictly Come Dancing (and its sister show; It Takes Two), Not Going Out, The Big Bang Theory, Bones, to name a few.
Famous Women: (in order) Emma Watson, Stephanie McMahon, Eliza Dushku, Eva Green, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Charisma Carpenter, Anne Hathaway (the actress, not Shakespeare's wife), Alyson Hannigan, Jennifer Lawrence, Sasha Alexander.
The Twilight Saga has to be the biggest load of shite ever published ... I always thought Twilight was the second track on the debut album by U2; Boy, (but I don't hate that). The Fifty Shades Trilogy can also be added to the list of worst bollocks ever published.
My favourite pairings for Harry Potter are:
Ron Weasley/Hermione Granger. Obviously the One True Pairing. You can't spell Hermione without RON. And to pair either of them with someone else is ludicrous and delusional. Especially pairing Hermione with Harry or Draco, come on, did these "people" who ship them actually read the books?
James Potter/Lily Evans. Come on, they're Harry's parents for Merlin's sake!
Remus Lupin/Nymphadora Tonks. A great pairing, and a lot like Ron and Hermione, they balance each other out, right?
Harry Potter/Luna Lovegood or an original female character. Luna because she's brilliant and the fact he shares more conversations with her than Ginny. Any original female character paired with Harry has to be well written and well developed.
HP pairings that are utterly wrong:
Harry/Hermione? Only if incest floats your boat.
Hermione/Draco? No fucking way, he's a bloody coward, and Hermione fell in love with Ron at first sight. Draco Malfoy is all wrong for a lot of reasons. He's not just a coward, but also a racist, a bully, and he's not very good looking. He's described as pale, skinny and with a pointed chin and a permanent sneer on his face. I'm not sure how anybody could find him attractive. He's also completely devoid of compassion, charm, wit, courage and a sense of humour. The only way this dickless wonder could ever get a girl is if his father arranges him a marriage.
Hermione/Snape? I think I'm going to be sick. Snape is a vile, depraved, ignorant bully, who thinks it's okay to mistreat the students he is supposed to teach. The bastard became Neville's Boggart, damn it! For calling Hermione an "Insufferable Know-It-All" and making her cry, he should have been fired.
Hermione/Sirius? Hermione/Remus? No, both men are too old and she loves Ron, damn it!
Hermione/Krum? No, absolutely not! He's too old and will go after anything in a skirt, most likely. "Vot is the point of being an International Quidditch Player if all the good-looking girls are taken?"
Hermione/Someone other than Ron? Including Lord Voldemort, Lucius Malfoy, and female characters? NO, NO, NO, NO!
Draco/Ginny? Not a chance in hell. Draco's not good enough for anyone, not even Ginny.
Ron/Lavender. NOOOOOOOOO! Ron loves Hermione!
Harry/Cho. Never going to work as they have absolutely nothing in common, and she only went out with him as she was on the rebound.
Not shipping Romione is completely wrong!
My pairings for Buffy the Vampire Slayer are:
Buffy Summers/Xander Harris. They are perfect for each other! He fell off his bloody skateboard and fell in love with her at first sight all at the same time! He didn't even know she was the slayer for Pete's sake. Joss Whedon ships them!
Faith Lehane/Xander Harris. They've got stuff in common and he would treat her right.
Cordelia Chase/Xander Harris. Don't know why I like this pairing, I just do, of course reading Ironbear's excellent stories that focus on them have helped.
Willow Rosenberg/Tara Maclay. I was shocked and absolutely gutted when Tara was killed off. Tara healed Willow of her broken heart. She was kind, caring, smart and incredibly beautiful inside and out, why, oh why, did she have to die? Tara made Willow happier than Oz ever did.
Rupert Giles/Joyce Summers. They had great chemistry, and Buffy would've most likely approved, too.
I would, at some point, like to write a story with some Buffy/Xander/Faith and another with Buffy/Xander/Faith/Cordelia, however, it won't be for quite some time I'm afraid and I'm not sure I would put either of them on this site, as they would be far too smutty!
The ships for Buffy I hate:
Buffy/Angel. AKA Captain Forehead. Angel did fuck all in season one. What was he doing on the night Buffy faced the Master? Sitting on his butt, reading a fucking book! Meanwhile, Xander was going ape-shit, and did everything he could to help her. He forced Angel to take him to the Master's lair and then performed CPR and brought her back from the dead, while Deadboy just stood there with his thumb up his crack! Not to mention how Angel's moment of perfect happiness came during sex with Buffy. Not a kiss from Buffy, not her telling him that she loved him, but during sex! Some guy he is! The best things he ever did were to stop Faith from killing Xander, and to fuck off after Graduation. To my mind Angel is nothing more than a paedophile as he was in his mid-twenties when he was turned, and went on to seduce Buffy while she was underage. Goodbye, and good riddance, Deadboy!
Buffy/Riley Finn. AKA Captain Cardboard. Why the bloody hell did Buffy waste over a year of her life on this loser? Completely devoid of personality and warmth he was. Credit where credit's due, he loved Buffy, and never held back. Trouble was, he tried too hard and Buffy fell out of love with him, if she ever loved him. Then he let's that vampire bite him and foolishly gives Buffy an ultimatum. He was, let's be honest, a bit of a wimp, and when he finally fucked off, I danced a little jig, and jumped for joy. Goodbye, and good riddance, Dork!
Buffy/Spike. AKA Captain Peroxide. Why was I subjected to this git with his hands all over Buffy in season six? What the fuck did he ever do to deserve to be in the same city let alone the same room as Buffy? What the fuck did Spike ever do for someone when there was nothing in it for himself? Never, that's when. Unfortunately, Joss lost control of his own show when the idiotic Buffy/Spike shippers started to write it instead of him! Spike is an arrogant, two-faced bastard who took advantage of Buffy when she was vulnerable. Of course, she came to her senses, and kicked the twat to the kerb. Spike, being the bastard that he is, tries to blackmail Buffy into sleeping with him again, when this fails, he screws Anya in the Magic Box, (no, that's not a pun,) and then stoops even lower by attempting to rape Buffy. What a fucking bastard! Then he buggered off and got his soul back. Which was most definitely NOT his intention! So, back comes Spike to Sunnydale. He's driven a little bit bonkers in the new school's basement. But so what? Even with his soul, he was the same arrogant twat. I couldn't see much difference between En-souled Spike, and Soulless Spike, to tell the truth. Sure, he was funny, but was he ever worthy of Buffy, or any other slayer? Fuck no! He had one heroic moment, and that was it. He then turns up months later in L.A. to annoy the hell out of Angel, which was great to be fair. Then again, the sad, pathetic wanker did have a robotic Buffy made so he could have sex with it! Thankfully, he fucked off and it was Goodbye, and good riddance to William the Bloody Awful!
So, that's all of Buffy's beaus. Angel, Riley and Spike. All she needs to do now is date some loser whose first name begins with an E. Then if you take out all the first letters of their first names, you get A, R, S, E. ARSE!
Faith/Robin. Faith deserves someone better than Robin. Don't know who, mind you, but anyone wold be better than the "Momma's Boy". Got his arse kicked by Spike, and that was his only highlight.
Xander/Dawn. Who was the fucking idiot who put Xander with Dawn? Whoever it was should be flogged. They need the lash! NO, NO, NO, NO! This is a dreadful ship, and one of the reasons why the Season Eight Graphic Novels have had mixed reviews. Please, somebody, make it stop! Xander should be with BUFFY Summers, not Dawn Summers.
Cordelia/Angel. There is no way that Cordelia Chase could ever be happy with Angel. Hello Vampire! Cordelia doesn't settle and she sure as hell wouldn't fall for Angel! Giving him a happy moment would release Angelus, and not giving him a happy moment and the knowledge she can't or didn't would eventually destroy her!
As for the rest of the ships on the show, they were okay while they lasted. Although, Willow/Kennedy. Not great. Kennedy just isn't Tara.
As for the "Fanon" ship of Buffy/Giles? If you ship them, you're either a sad old git with delusions of grandeur, or a young girl with a serious problem and needs to see a shrink! I also say that for Faith/Giles, Cordelia/Giles and any younger female with Giles. Just yuck is all I can say.
Also there's Xander/Spike. How the fuck can anyone ship these two? Did they not watch the show? Xander and Spike hate each other! You can also say the same for Xander/Angel or Angelus too, and also Angel or Angelus/Spike. Honestly, again I say, did these "people" actually watch the show? In fact any M/M pairing anyone can think of is just stupid as there are no male homosexual couples in Buffy: The Vampire Slayer.
There is another thing besides Harry Potter and Buffy: The Vampire Slayer that I love. You see before Harry Potter and Buffy, there was ... Bond, James Bond.
I spent many hours of my childhood watching the films, and spent most of my adulthood doing the same. I practically raised myself on James Bond. The incredible amount of useless knowledge I have collected, particularly during my youth, comes from Bond. So many people on here say they owe their childhood to Harry Potter, but me? I owe it to Bond. There were many occasions where I chose to watch a Bond film instead of doing homework, and yes, I got in trouble for it! However, I really didn't give a shit.

Elektra King: "I would have given you the world."

Bond: "Ah, no, no, to the right, to the right ...! Yes, yes, (laughs) now the whole world's gonna know you died scratching my balls!" (Casino Royale)
M: "I've fucked this up, haven't I?" (Skyfall) The first F-bomb in fifty years of James Bond!
As much as I love Bond, it is very unlikely I will ever write anything for it.
My other pairings include:
Tony DiNozzo/Kate Todd (NCIS). Yes, I am well aware that she is dead, and if I ever write any fan fiction for NCIS and this ship, (ideas have come to mind), the last fifteen seconds of the season 2 finale will be disregarded. Kate is and shall forever be a better person and agent than Ziva. Tony and Kate are two halves of one whole. Yeah, they bickered A LOT, but it was playful and fun whereas Ziva was simply disrespectful and insubordinate, her barbs were vicious where Kate's were just her giving as good as she got. Kate knew where the line was and didn't cross it, Ziva had to look behind her. Ziva also assaulted him when he was injured in the episode "Aliyah" and turned off the radio while Tony was gathering voice recordings in the episode "Dead Air", although McGee has to share some responsibility for that one, too. I loved the first two seasons of the show but without Kate it just wasn't the same. Unlike so many fans, I do like Bishop, though. Tony and Kate are very similar to Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger in a lot ways, they balance each other out. He's very laid back and she's a very serious person who knew exactly what he could do if he put his mind to it, and he could get her to smile sometimes and to step back so she doesn't get an ulcer or something. The entire team need him to say or do something to lighten the mood as they see the absolute worst of what people can do to each other. Tony toughened up McGee and taught him how to be a good agent without McGee realising it. He also took the brunt of Gibbs' impatience and temper on to himself a lot of the time as well. He also has Gibbs' unwavering trust and has more skills and education than most people think. He's probably one of the most respected agents in the agency and is popular in the agency at the same time.
Michael Westen/Fiona Glenanne (Burn Notice). She gets him, she gets annoyed with him and she loves him. I love this show a lot, and it is the best I've ever watched. I love Sam Axe, he's just brilliant in every way, and of course, that introduction ... "My name is Michael Westen, I used to be a spy, until ... We've got a Burn Notice on you. You're Blacklisted. When you're Burned, you've got nothing. No cash, no credit, no job history. You're stuck in whatever city they decide to dump you ... Where am I? - Miami. You do whatever work comes your way ... You rely on anyone who's still talking to you ... A trigger-happy ex-girlfriend ... Shall we shoot them? ... An old friend who used to inform on you to the FBI ... You know spies - bunch of bitchy little girls. ... Family too - if you're desperate ... And a down-and-out spy you met along the way ... That's how we do it, people. ... Bottom line: as long as you're Burned, you're not going anywhere." However, as much as I love this show, I don't think I'll ever write anything for it. I just won't be able to do it justice.
Jean-Luc Picard/Beverley Crusher (Star Trek: The Next Generation). No plans to write anything for this show or ship.
Trip/T'pol (Star Trek: Enterprise). I am aware that Trip died in the last episode, but as the episode sucked ass, I don't acknowledge it. Although I doubt I'll write anything for this show or this ship.
Josh/Donna, Josh/C.J. (The West Wing). No plans to write anything for this show or these ships.
Niles/Daphne, Frasier/Roz (Frasier). No plans to write anything for this show or these ships.
Booth/Brennan (Bones). No plans to write anything for this show or this ship.
Howard/Bernadette, Sheldon/Amy, Leonard/Penny (The Big Bang Theory, and in order of preference). No plans to write anything for this show or these ships.
Peter Venkman/Dana Barrett (Ghostbusters). No plans to write anything for my all-time favourite movie or this ship.
Here's a list of my (Fan Fiction) Pet Peeves.
1, Authors who post pointless author notes instead of a chapter! Nothing makes me more angry than seeing the words "Author Note" or "Important Author Note" or "Not A Chapter"! I feel robbed and cheated into clicking on the arrows when it appears there has been an update only to see any of the three listed "titles". If you cannot update because real life is being a pain in the arse, so be it. I can accept that people only have a certain window to write, edit and update their stories. Please put all notices in your profile instead, thank you.
2, Authors who hold their story/chapters hostage for reviews! It's just plain wrong! Reviews are great, but you should never force people to give them. Nothing will make me stop reading a work in progress story faster than when an Author does this. Do paid Authors hold their new books hostage for reviews? No, then nobody on this site or any other should hold anything hostage for reviews either!
3, Americanisms in British-set genres. For example, using the word Mom instead of Mum, when writing a Harry Potter story. Semester instead of term, etc. Please, American writers, do try to use the British words. Or doing it the other way around. British terms in American-set genres. Using boot instead of trunk, etc. Whenever I write a Harry Potter story, I will always use the British terms, and when I write Buffy: the Vampire Slayer, I will always try to use the American terms for things. If I get the American terms wrong, please feel free to correct me, I am not American, after all.
4, Reviewers who flame or criticize, constructively or not, who have not submitted any stories themselves. I appreciate all reviews that come my way, but before offering me constructive criticism, remember to check your own offerings, and reviews for them, first. Please make sure you read the story/chapter thoroughly before reviewing. I would also like to add those who try to tell me I'm using the wrong speech marks. This " is a quotation mark, not a speech mark, thank you. More importantly, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.
5, Stories for Harry Potter that contain Muggle Devices that either don't work at Hogwarts, or weren't invented at the time of when the story is supposed to be set. Example: IPhones being used at Hogwarts during the Marauder Era (1971-1978). Laptops at Hogwarts is another common one. According to Hogwarts, A History, Muggle devices go haywire at Hogwarts, people! This includes mobile phones too! Where at Hogwarts can you plug in an adapter cable for a laptop or a phone charger?
6, Stories for Harry Potter that contain Ron and/or Hermione bashing. If you are a basher of Ron and/or Hermione, you are not a true fan of the series! If you don't like Ron and/or Hermione, you should stop reading the books, watching the films and writing fan fiction for Harry Potter immediately. Sell your books and DVDs, give them away, whatever. If you don't like certain characters, don't fucking write about them! Jo wrote her characters with flaws to make them more appealing and interesting, so there! Is anybody perfect? Fuck no!
7, Dramione, Bangel, and Spuffy stories. Especially when they are misplaced into other fields. I hate these three ships so I don't want to read them in a story where the author has labelled Ron and Hermione as the primary and secondary characters, and with Xander and Buffy named as the primary and secondary characters. Or with them starting R/Hr but changing to D/Hr, and B/X changing to B/A or B/S. The other way around though, no problem! D/Hr to R/Hr, and B/A and B/S to B/X, thumbs most definitely up!
8, Reading the Books stories that do not have Canon Pairings at the end. I love Reading the Books stories, even though they are not allowed on this site, but to have whole new 'ships pop up out of nowhere that are not canon, just seems ridiculous to me. I read one where Hermione is being paired with Charlie Weasley and making Ron look a total heel, and couldn't help thinking "Why?" Although, it did give me an idea for a story ... that I don't have the time or the energy to write at the moment.
9, Super-powerful Harry and Ginny in Harry Potter. Now, Harry, I can understand, but Ginny? Not so much. I really don't like it when she's made out to be something she isn't. A lot of authors make her into some kind of goddess when she really isn't. She's not this super-dynamic character who is utterly flawless. I really hate stories that see her get moved up a year to be with Harry simply because she is not more intelligent than Hermione. Add in the fact I don't really ship her with Harry any more ... Plus I found her irritating in the books, and creepy in the films.
More to follow ...
