Author has written 10 stories for Firefly, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Xena: Warrior Princess, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Angel, and Undercover Blues. I am a Presbyterian minister and an ex-doctoral candidate in psychology of religion (I lost my zeal for finishing the dissertation once my committee started 'tweaking' it out of all recognition) with interests in anthropology, biblical archaeology, Buddhist studies, and Christian theology. Dorothy L. Sayers (yes, the author of the Peter Wimsey mystery novels) is probably my favorite theologian, though I tend to think that "the drama is the dogma" (rather than the reverse, as in the title of one of her most well-known essays). Currently I do research during the day and teach introductory bible courses at a university in the evenings, while preaching at local churches on the weekends. I read and occasionally write fanfic in my 'spare' time! My science fiction fandom started with reruns of the original "Star Trek" and the books of Andre Norton in childhood, and now includes "Deep Space 9," "Babylon 5," "Xena," "Buffy," "Firefly," several of the films of James Cameron ("T2" and the director's cut versions of "Aliens" and "The Abyss"), as well as the novels of Lois McMaster Bujold, Diane Duane, and P.M. Griffin. "Star Trek" (TOS) was also my introduction to the wonderful world of fanzines and fanfic back in the 1970's, and I was unknowingly introduced to crossover fanfic by reading Barbara Hambly's delightful Star Trek novel ISHMAEL while I was in seminary in the 80's (I've re-read it almost annually since then, along with Jane Austen's PRIDE AND PREJUDICE and some of my favorite Georgette Heyers). I stumbled on Jane Austen in 5th grade and read my first Georgette Heyer novels while living in Northern Ireland the summer after 6th grade (after reading FREDERICA for the first time there, I was hooked for life . . . though in later years I've re-read COTILLION just as often). Lois McMaster Bujold's tribute to Sayers, Heyer, Austen, and Charlotte Bronte, A CIVIL CAMPAIGN, is also high on my re-reading list. Though I think of myself as a better beta-reader than fiction writer, I occasionally get an irresistible urge to write and post something, and have been posting fics on Twisting the Hellmouth (http:///authors.php?no=5644&list=published) and LiveJournal (http:///162023.html) since March of 2007. Mostly, I just write bad rhymes to compliment other authors' fanfic work. My favorite non-crossover BtVS pairing is Spike/Buffy, though I'm also addicted to reading BtVS/Stargate: SG1 crossover fics, particularly, which makes for a whole slew of additional interesting pairings (including Sam/Jack, my favorite canonical SG1 non-cross pairing). My favorite non-canonical pairing of all time may well be River/Jayne ("Firefly"), though I've recently become obsessed with reading Sheldon/Penny ("Big Bang Theory"). My 'semi-guilty pleasure' pairings that I love to read include (but are not limited to) Sam/Baal ("Stargate: SG1"), Michael/Teyla ("Stargate: Atlantis"), Lex/Scar (or really any well-done human/yautja pairing in the "Alien vs. Predator" universe), Sylar/Claire ("Heroes"), and Riddick/Fry ("Pitch Black" etc.). |
