Author has written 8 stories for Final Fantasy VII, and Dragon Age.
Thirty-something geek with not enough time on her hands and an over-active imagination.
I started writing back in about 2003, or thereabouts. But work got in the way as it tends to do when you get older. After a massive hiatus of... oooh... six years or so, I started to write some new stories and work on my old ones again. Hell, maybe I'll even remember how I planned them to end. But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. One thing to know about my writing - I'm incapable of being serious. I try, honestly I do. I set out with the best intentions in the world, to write something dark and deep and meaningful. But every time I do, I catch myself trying to be funny, and before you know it...
Anyway. I've got a huge soft spot for a few games characters - Tall-Dark-And-Moody Vincent Valentine from Final Fantasy VII, Dragon Age's Chantry boy Alistair and the dashing Balthier from FFXII.
Absent Without Leave (complete) One-shot. Just something that was wandering round my head for a while. Toying with the idea of a Vincent that isn't a particularly nice guy, this written from Velds point of view, during the fallout of the Jenova Project.
Outside, Looking In (complete) One-shot. Tifa Lockhart muses about Avalanche's most enigmatic companion. What does she think makes him the man he is?
Becoming (in progress) Elissa's story. It jumps around a little, and there's gaps between chapters. Bioware and David Gaider did such a spectacular job that I can't do some of their scenes justice. Instead, this looks more at the thoughts and feelings behind Elissa at certain times in the game, as she grows from Teyrns daughter to Hero of Ferelden. I also wanted to move away from the idea of a game PC, where you're awesome, to something more approaching real life, where you're bloody petrified at what's going on around you.
Knife Ears (complete) One-shot. Alternative point of view to that expressed in Checkmate. How do you reach the decision not to put Alistair on the throne? Kallian Tabris wrestles with the repercussions of what she's done, and Eamon disapproves. Disapproves -10, in fact.
Checkmate (complete) One-shot. Elissa Cousland tries to justify her choice at the Landsmeet to the former Queen of Ferelden. Companion tale to Becoming, but this piece was finished first.
Just To Play In A Game Of Twisted With You (complete) One-shot. Lucrecia would do anything to fulfill her dreams of fame and power. But dreams can't last forever. A different take on Lucrecia and Vincent's relationship. First published in 2004, since reworked slightly.
Better The Devil You Know (in progress) A Turk mission that occurs during the course of "No Brakes". I wanted to explore further the relationship between Turks, as well as their loyalty to the Company and the sort of work they do. When I started, I knew exactly how it was going to end. That was seven years ago. I have since forgotten. Help.
No Brakes (in progress) And has been in progress for more years than I can conveniently count. This was, and is the first story I ever wrote. I'm fixing up things I'm not happy with any more, and with a bit of luck, I'll finish it. When I started this, all we knew about the mysterious Mr Valentine was what the game told us, ie: bugger all.
