An Interesting Thought from a Dedicated Reader
* ALL STORIES ON HIATUS *
My apologies for the long gaps in updating the incomplete stories to those who are reading them. Real life is very precarious right now and my concentration is not where it should be. I am attempting to get chapters out very slowly and carefully to avoid making a mess of them, and I hope things will improve some time in the near future.
Current priority is the revision and re-posting of the Ramble On series. A Septet of Evil (previous title : Awakening) is being revised and posted now. A Serpent Ascending follows. There are another 5 stories in the series to be reposted and those are the WIPs right now.
In The Lies of Celestial Intent, the last story of the Apocalypse series, will be finished. That's a promise.
Disposable Heroes has 8 more chapters but is likely to be the last incomplete story to be finished as it has an outlined sequel, No Quarter Given, covering S10 and the AU direction the Reimagined series has taken.
* SUPERNATURAL FAN FICTION MONTHLY AWARDS WRITING COMPETITION *
There used to be several competitions on the site, encouraging writers and readers alike to pursue high-quality stories, but they haven't been around for some time and it seems like a good time to see if the fans on the site are ready for a new one. So, I'd like to invite all writers and readers to put their nominations for stories, old and new, into the Supernatural Fan Fiction Monthly Awards competition.
Ideally, a monthly award competition might rekindle interest in writing well, provide feedback for writers and showcase unique, well-written and high-quality stories for readers to enjoy. The competition has been running since October 2015 and we've seen a treasure-trove of wonderful stories nominated and winning each month.
So, to the basics: Anyone can nominate any story for the competition, provided the author of the story gives their permission, if they are still active on the site. There are a wealth of stories written by those who have moved on, and if the author is no longer active and the stories are more than 5 years old, nomination is allowed.
There are six sections of eligible stories, with eleven categories (genres) per section.
All stories must be complete. 1 story per author/Section/Category are permissible per month. Winning stories are featured in the Supernatural Fan Fiction Awards community.
More details can be found on the Supernatural Fan Fiction Awards Forum.
* CONGRATULATIONS TO THE AUTHORS OF NOVEMBER'S WINNING STORIES! *
The last month has seen another round of excellent stories nominated with very close scores and happy judges. The winning stories can be found at the Supernatural Fan Fiction Monthly Award community and all nominated stories are listed and linked on the forum for even more quality reading here.
* WE NEED NOMINATIONS! *
The competition is to encourage writers to showcase their well-written stories and to give readers another way to find the excellent stories that do exist on this site. Everyone is welcome to nominate their stories - or their favourite stories, with the permission of active authors - and to help every Supernatural fan to find the exceptional talent here. Please don't be shy about nominating, either your own stories or those of authors you believe more people should be reading, so more people can enjoy the stories and the writers can gain more feedback for their hard work.
Heavenli24's Supernatural's Writers Room is a great place to discuss the craft of writing and the show with other writers and readers who are passionate about writing and Supernatural. You can share your thoughts, knowledge and techniques, experience and opinions in a courteous and interested forum for discussion. Unique & Unforgettable is an excellent community committed to finding and collecting Supernatural stories that are finely written, memorable and keep the characters vividly recognisable. Check it out for authors you might not have found before and for some riveting stories of the highest-quality.
Note to (Some) Readers
Please don't use Favourite as a bookmark to just read the stories. Your web or phone browser has a bookmarking function. When an author sees a new Favourite on one of their stories, they are delighted - they think someone has liked the story enough to read it again and wants to remember it. When that disappears a day or two later, it's a downer. Do authors need more downers in their lives? Hardly. Be compassionate and think of others.
