Greetings. I'm Wild Goose, and I've been hanging around FF.net since 2002, and writing on and off since then. I'm currently working, and don't have as much time for writing fanfics as I once had, though I'm making an effort to write every day...
I'm male, and a Malaysian citizen. Spent a bit of time in the UK as a child, and thanks to that and my Australian Cool Big Sis, I can speak and understand British and Australian accents.
Was a Ronin for a while, but for the last several years I've been working in the only Domino's call centre... in the world. Since everyone who's senior to me has since left, I am now an Almighty Janitor Only Sane Employee.
I have always had a fascination towards the profession of arms, which has influenced a significant portion of my reading (Ambrose, Bowden, Bond, Chapman, Clancy, Griffin, Weber), viewing, and games. Most shows I watch and games I play will have something to do with soldiering or dogfights...
I tend to be a fairly upfront and direct person, and like a good debate as much as the next person. Due to having actually studied law - I intended to make Law my profession, before shit happened - debating with me tends to involve lots of picking away at concepts and the like.
Funnily, this seems to only work in Outer Cadia or the Design Flaws thread.
Currently my writing is focused on several projects. My main focus at the moment is Tropical Thunder, a sidestory fanfic to Muv-Luv: Alternative, taking place in 1995, which is snapshots of an RMAF Hornet squadron at war. Or as I call it, "Malaysian Hornets in Action." I was inspired to write this after marathoning Tactical Surface Fighters in Action, a serial photonovel offering glimpses of the war against the BETA, and after helping Alastor Mobius Toth and edit Muv-Luv: Comet and finishing off the Total Eclipse Anime. I'm also helping sasahara17 beta his Muv-Luv/Macross Frontier cross, Muv-Luv: Do You Remember Luv?, of which a TV Tropes Page is available, and I've done a little bit of writing in that verse.
In addition, I'm still continuing a couple of old projects:
The first is March to the Future, an AU Time Travel rewrite of Solid Shark's Birds of a Feather, with his blessings. I took on this project after suggesting some cannon fodder extras for Cry of the Falcon, and then one night decided, "I want to write a time travel fic, a SEED fic, a Falconverse fic, and I'd like to do something with these extras. Let's give it a try!" Writing is slow going - playing in a verse set by someone has it's challenges - but I intend to complete this fic. Soon. Hopefully. I've recently gone back to rewatching SEED and rereading BoaF in order to get my interest levels back up again.
An alternate project I have, that's slowly percolating, is a Nanoha StrikerS fic with an OC cast that's an unholy crossover of ODST meets Section Nine meets The Unit; Hayate's Riot Force 6 isn't the only taskforce with an interest in Jail Scaglietti... work is slowed as Malaysian Hornets in Action and the Marching Falconverse have higher priority.
Other likes and interests:
Cool planes are always fun, hence my love of Top Gun (Just Plane Wrong aside), Area 88, Ace Combat and Yukikaze. I'm also a fan of strategy games - RTS and turn based - which is causing me to write less. (Supreme Commander. World in Conflict. Nuff said.)
Also, and I cannot recommend this story enough, is The Miracle at Palaven, which is probably the best Mass Effect 3 fanfic I read in 2012-2013. And the best part: It's complete.
Right, well, on that bombshell, good night! Liked or disliked anything below? Drop a line and I'll return it soonest. Cheers!
(And yes, everything that's from before 2007 is an Old Shame. Can't bear to get rid of it though...)
