This is CloudMistDragon. I like to write stories about all sorts of things, and I hope that many of you will enjoy reading them. :D
I started here back in 2011, a year after I had posted my first fanfic to a Spongebob forum site. At first, I had planned to just use this account for sharing a few stories I wrote there here, but soon, I got more into writing than I thought I would and became interested in writing a wider variety of stories to share with a wider crowd. So in January of 2012, I posted my first "fanfiction.net original" story here, Fluttershy's Dark Sky, which was also my first My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fanfic. It was written to feel like a serious story, but was actually very silly. Upon observing the favorable amount of attention it amassed, I was inspired to make silliness the dominant style of my works. Thus, the stories I posted over the summer of that year were super-goofy trollfics (for the uninformed, stories not intended to be good to have fun with people while providing them with lulzy laughs). This period of writing is one I look back on happily, I was impressed with the reception my stories were getting and having fun.
Later that year, however, is when things took somewhat of a spill. Longing to write a trollfic for MLP:FiM, I began working on a super-big project. Feeling ambitious, I decided to not only make this trollfic the longest one to date by miles and bounds, but also...I literally tried to make everything in it funny. Because I also longed to boost viewership for this trollfic, I made it a sequel to Fluttershy's Dark Sky. The trollfic I had once called "Celestia's Big Horn" became Transcending Fluttershy's Dark Sky. While the story got more views than my other trollfics, it garnered nowhere near as much attention as the original Fluttershy's Dark Sky. Surprised by the story's underperformance, I tried again with making an MLP trollfic with Descendant Friendly, a Halloween special story. After this story became subject to awful reception, I fell into a bit of a rut, and didn't post another story until next year.
The first story I posted in 2013, the next year, was based off of Turnabout Storm, a popular MLP fan project. Fairly impressed with my work on this story, I wrote another fanfic inspired by MLP fan creations. This fanfic, however, is one I deeply regret writing. I tried to compensate for where I felt I had stumbled with Lightening Fluttershy's Dark Sky, the third, and originally intended to be final, Fluttershy's Dark Sky story. Again, I tried to be ambitious with it, and wrote it in an unorthodox style meant to combine the style of the sequel with the style of the original. But once again, the story was overshadowed by the original Fluttershy's Dark Sky, and I temporarily lost interest in completing it. In fact, I almost ended up resolving to giving up on writing fanfiction altogether, having lost sight of my drive and goal.
However, the following year, in 2014, hope was renewed. I looked back at Lightening Fluttershy's Dark Sky out of curiosity and remembered what my true drive was, simply telling others a story that I poured my heart, imagination, and soul into. Realizing that, I rediscovered the energy I once had in writing, and was able to finally complete the project. And in 2015, I got fully back into the game, writing enough stories to make it the most productive year of my writing since 2012. Awakening Fluttershy's Dark Sky, the fourth entry in the Fluttershy's Dark Sky franchise that came out that year, is what I personally considered to be my greatest accomplishment in story writing at the time. Spiriting Fluttershy's Dark Sky, the fifth entry in the Fluttershy's Dark Sky franchise, is something I hope will succeed that title...
Though none of my stories have ever been true hits, and while I sometimes wonder if I ever will write a story that becomes widely renowned on the internet, I've come to realize that it doesn't matter. I'm in this to share stories with you guys and any sort of feedback or readership you give me is something I sincerely appreciate. To a future of writing for fun! :D
