Author has written 5 stories for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and Young Justice.
Hello! Dids107 here!
A bit of my fanfiction history:
I started out reading "Harry Potter" fanfictions, but have never wrote for the fandom. I love, love, love J.K. Rowling's universe, I have read the series multiple times and watched the movies more than once, but writing for "Harry Potter" is like the holy grail of fanfiction. It requires a bit more training, more...finesse. I am only a high school student, so I think I'll hold back on this fandom for a while.
My first published fanfiction was for "Percy Jackson and the Olympians"/"The Heroes of Olympus" book series by Rick Riordan. I've only written one piece for this group, but again, I love those books. "House of Hades" was a wonderful read and touched on many ideas that I really feel should be discussed with younger readers. I can not wait for "Blood of Olympus", which is set up to be a perfect ending to a series that has been going on for years.
I've written a few pieces for "Young Justice". "Six Months" and "Steps" are the only complete onse (one-shots), and I lost interest in my other works for about a year because of real life (always a bitch) and...well, quite frankly, I didn't like "Young Justice: Invasion" that much. Parts of it were cool, but there were too many plot lines for me, and it was a bit boring, honestly. I did feel bad that Wally died, though. Spitfire was my OTP for that series. "Love Runs Deep" is actually very calming to write. I recently updated, and had a nice time writing about Billy again! "Getting Traught" is on the back burner for a while. I still have the story in my head, so don't give up hope! I haven't yet!
With the start of Nick's "Ninja Turtles" series back in September of 2012, my love for the TMNT has rekindled! I watched the 2k3 series as a kid, and the 2k7 movie as well. I even have watched a few of the 1987 series! The 2k12 turtles are very cute, and have inspired me to start writing for this fandom also. I haven't posted anything yet, I'm still fine-tuning my work! I read a lot of fanfiction on the turtles-it's half interest, half research on how to write. If you've noticed, each fandom has it's own "voice" of writing. I could easily write for "Young Justice" and "Percy Jackson", but the TMNT has a different feel. I am working on finding and honing that particular skill. "Harry Potter", again, is something completely out of my realm right now.
When reading, I like fiction of any length and genre. The only things that put me off when reading are grammar mistakes, and dry or boring plot lines. The fiction should be moving along. Skimming paragraphs means that you've lost me as a reader. Of course, I am not putting the blame on anyone here! We're all people who just want to share our imagination! I respect that. I'm not trying to preach to anyone here. I look back at my own fiction with a critical eye, as well.
My favorite genres are romance, (depending on the fandom), family, and HUMOR! Humor is the best. Also, regarding the Turtles, I enjoy angst. I feel like there is a dark side to this fandom only explored by fanfiction, only breifly touched on by 2k3 and 2k7.
What I don't like are songfics...they just seem awkward to me. Some are okay, I guess. It's weird, however, when it's just one character singing to themselves while unknowingly being watched by another character. Seriously, I feel like that particular road has been traveled on many times by many different authors of every fandom! An angsty character will whip an acoustic guitar out of nowhere and sing some emo shit. Then, out of the shadows, a person they fought with or don't like will appear, surprised at this hidden talent. They will bond, tears may or may not be shed. I don't mind songfics where the lyrics correlate to the actions of the characters. Just as long as no one is singing a full song, complete with the refrains and each stanza. Seriously, who sings a whole song by themselves? Singing along and blasting your iPod/radio while driving doesn't count. I do that all the time.
Nico Di Angelo from Rick Riordan's "Heroes of Olympus" and "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series. A troubled young kid with more problems than he can handle.
Hamato Donatello from Eastman and Laird...no, Mirage? Viacom? 4kids??! NICK??...From "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". The snarky, genius third youngest of the Hamato clan.
Sokka from "Avatar: The Last Airbender"...the 'meat and sarcasm' guy.
Toph Beifong from "Avatar: The Last Airbender". The most fucking metal (bending) girl you will ever meet.
Draco Malfoy from J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" series...the anti Harry, a character on the path of vice who is constantly temped by virtue.
This is a lot of writing. Probably 94% of you skipped over this, anyways. Hahaha!
