Author has written 10 stories for Harry Potter.
Wondering why I've been silent for the last few weeks? I've been starting a shop on Etsy! If you're into steampunk and cyberpunk (or know someone who is) check it out!
To anyone who has reviewed my stories or added me to their favorites/alerts: I can't thank you enough! I love writing enough that I'd write and post my stories even if they didn't get a single comment on this site, but as I'm sure you all know, nothing puts a smile on your face like knowing someone likes your stories enough to take a few moments to let you know. If any of you have a story you'd like me to review, don't hesitate to drop me a line!
About me: Well, Avery is my penname, and Lou is a character I once played in an RPG called Paranoia. I'm a geek and a scientist and a writer. I have way too many interests to list them all here, but the fandoms I am most likely to dive into are Harry Potter, Tales of Symphonia/the Abyss, and Kingdom Hearts.
About my writing: Whenever I'm writing a substantial fic (e.g. the main installments in the James Potter series or the Black AU) I like to have a complete (or nearly so) first draft before I start posting. That way, I can (a) work out any plot holes that might have been created during the initial drafting, and (b) update quickly, usually once or twice a week, since I only have to edit the chapters as I go along and write the companion stories (Moony's Story, Padfoot's Story, Wormtail's Story, and Lily's Story). Also, you don't have to worry about me not finishing a story or going ghastly lengths of time without an update (barring some unforeseeable catastrophe or a long stretch without internet access). There will be longish gaps between stories because of this, but I'll try to fill those gaps with oneshots and drabbles.
UPDATE for 1 February 2013: Well, I've been quiet for over a month now... Sorry about that, folks. I've been working on my original novel series lately, and that's put a bit of a stop on my fanfic. Don't worry! I still fully intend to get Shades of Black up in the coming months; it just might take longer than I expected. I have five (of approximately 20) chapters written, and as with my previous stories, I like to have a much more complete draft before I start posting. No need to get you to the good part and then leave off for six months. I do, however, have a oneshot nearly ready to post, and a few more in the works, so I should have something up in the coming weeks.
Another part of the problem is that I've discovered (and rediscovered) some other universes that are currently being more inspiring than Harry Potter. They're, sadly, much smaller fandoms than this one, which is a real shame, because they're AWESOME books. If you're looking for some great reads, I really encourage you to check out the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson and the Knight and Rogue series by Hilari Bell. I may or may not be posting oneshots in those fandoms soon. (Seriously. I love the Marauders and other characters from the HP-verse, but none of them compare to the characters in those series. Michael and Fisk? Spook, TenSoon, and Breeze? If you don't know these people, then you are seriously missing out!)
In the meantime, I'm going to shamelessly promote my Etsy store and direct you there now: Right now, I only have steampunk jewelry for sale, but I plan to make some cyberpunk pieces soon, and maybe some geeky items. And I take requests! So check me out and tell your friends! :)
JAMES POTTER SERIES
(All stories in the JP series are rated T for language and violence, not necessarily in that order.)
A Note on the Companions: While some chapters of each companion could be read as independent oneshots, they are intended to be read together with the main series. There are two ways you can do this: (1) Read the main series. When author's notes at the end of a chapter indicate a corresponding entry in a companion, go read it. (2) Read the main series. At the end of each story/year, read all the entries in each collection, up to and including the summer interlude. Proceed with next story in main series.
Of course, you can enjoy the main series without reading any of the collections just fine. But the main series follows James almost exclusively, and there are some things that the others see/do/think that deserve to be told.
THE BLACK AU
Shades of Black - Book One (A story about family.) COMING SOON.
A Mother's Love - Remus-centric oneshot set during the last full moon before he goes to Hogwarts.
The Cockroach - Remus-centric oneshot. COMING SOON
UNIVERSAL DISCLAIMER: I don't own Harry Potter or anything related to it. That universe belongs to the wonderful J. K. Rowling, and I just enjoy living in it.
I got this idea from a reader, bkaddictjk, who observed that the problem with favorite authors lists is that you can't tell what fandoms they write for. So I thought I'd tell you guys a little about the authors on my list.
