I'm a graduate student in my twenties, born and raised in the Intermountain West of the United States, interested mostly in films made before color and television shows that went off-air before I started grade school.

In nine years I've changed a lot as a person and a writer, and my life as a Textual Poacher has had a lot to do with that. I intend to carry my interest in telling stories about our shared modern mythology with me, no matter where the next decade might take me from here.

I write mostly oneshots and almost entirely gen, in all sorts of fandoms. I'm still writing Hannibal Smith drabbles for the fanfic100 community on LiveJournal; some of the longer ones I'll post separately, and the rest can be found in "A Spot of Drabble Rousing".

From the very start, I've been posting a poem-of-the-update here. There seems little sense in stopping that tradition now.

Sometimes

Sometimes things don't go, after all,
From bad to worse. Some years, muscadel
Faces down frost; green thrives; the crops don't fail.
Sometimes a man aims high, and all goes well.

A people sometimes will step back from war,
Elect an honest man, decide they care
Enough, that they can't leave some stranger poor.
Some men become what they were born for.

Sometimes our best intentions do not go
Amiss; sometimes we do as we meant to.
The sun will sometimes melt a field of sorrow
that seemed hard frozen; may it happen for you.
