Author has written 4 stories for ThunderCats.
/krɪˈtik/ criticizing a literary or other work; detailed evaluation; review.
Why did I post the definition of critique? Because all too often I read Authors Notes, Summaries, and Reviews from people crying that they were "flamed" when in fact, they simply received criticism on some problem with their story. 99.9% of what these individuals claim to be "flames" aren't even lit matches.
Instead of complaining that you got a "bad review", take a moment to consider what that review is telling you. If the review points out incorrect spelling, punctuation, or other grammatical problems, FIX THE PROBLEMS! Don't throw a temper tantrum because someone publicly called you on your own screw-ups. If it says that your "story" is too short, consider beefing it up and adding some length; maybe even a little extra detail. If it says that the reviewer simply did not like your story, it is their RIGHT to tell you that they simply didn't like the story.
When you post a story for the public to read, you must accept the opinions of the public - both good and bad. If you only want praise, the public eye is NOT where you will find it. Your best bet in that situation is to just show what you write to a few close friends then lock it away.
PLAGIARISM - I utterly despise those cowardly and pathetic enough to steal from another writer. It doesn't take any time at all to give credit where credit is due so just do it. If I had the chance, I'd take plagiarists out behind a woodshed and beat them with two-feet of garden hose until they could do nothing more than spend the rest of their natural born lives staring up at a ceiling from a hospital bed. If I find out a person is a plagiarist, I WILL OUT YOU and I WILL WARN OTHER WRITERS ABOUT YOU.
A special note in regards to the term "butt hurt fixfic" and those of less than childish mind and maturity that use it to troll stories they do not like.
Many of you might ask, what is this term and what does it mean?
The best those of us with education and a family tree that actually has branches as well as roots can determine is that the term is a vulgar slang used by those who swim in the shallow end of the gene pool to denote a story that deviates from canon events because the writer of the aforementioned story is unhappy with the course of canon events. It has nothing to do with any legitimate critiquing.
An example would be an individual who reads and writes Harry Potter stories featuring a relationship between Harry and Hermione when the canon relationship is between Ron and Hermione.
Another example would be a person who reads and writes mostly Voltron stories featuring a relationship between Prince Lotor and Princess Allura when the canon relationship is between Keith and Allura.
If you are thinking 'wait, what you just described makes up a very large portion of all the fan fictions currently published not to mention a large portion of the fan fictions yet to be published - for any genre.'
Fear not, for you are not alone in your line of thinking and you are indeed correct.
It seems the people who use this term in pathetic attempts to insult others really are just too stupid to even know what fan fiction is and are in fact hypocritical trolls only interested in tearing down others.
Why do I call them hypocritical trolls?
Well, say for example the person who primarily reads and writes Voltron stories featuring a non-canon relationship between Lotor and Allura comes to the Thundercats story section and leaves "reviews" on stories featuring non-canon pairings, calling these stories "butt hurt fixfics."
That would make the person in the example a hypocritical troll - and many other profanities - as well as an all around hateful moron because the person in the example is insulting and demeaning others over the very same things the person in the example does themselves.
So in the future, when you see a trolling goon call someone's story a "butt hurt fixfic," feel free to reach out to that writer and let them know that such behavior is uncalled for. If you'd like, you can even report the troll's bullying to admins since the use of the phrase in no way, shape, or form rightfully criticizes a portion of the writing.
Now, before anyone tries to cry or moan to me about the simple truths contained in this profile, please be advised that 100% of the time I will disregard your complaints and laugh at you long and loud with youthful abandon. I may even post your tantrums for public mocking.
To those who have received praise from me...know that you have EARNED it and you DESERVE it. Well done and keep up the fantastic job.
To those I beta-read for, you were and are mature enough to ask for help when help was needed. I hold you in the same regards as those I praise. Together, we make the most beautiful music.
