Author has written 4 stories for Harry Potter.
I'm an Australian university student with a love of writing but a terrible reputation for never being able to finish anything. I'm taking this opportunity with fanfiction to practice consistency, I hope my attention span will stretch a little.
I love most literature and a few of my favorites are: Crime and Punishment, Chocolat, One flew over the Cuckoos nest, Pride and Prejudice, The Magus, Life of Pi, Great Expectations... the list goes on- that's just a mixed bag of a few that came to mind.
I read fantasy series such as Harry Potter mostly as guilty pleasure novels. This is because I realize that I'm starting to get too old for them but at the same time, I was of the generation that literally grew up with Harry from the first book, so he's been a part of my life since I was quite young. Also, fanfiction helps me get over writers block and it's more fun and easy to write in fantasy settings.
I'm majoring in English and Drama at University but I also dabble in spanish and philosophy.
I tend to write under the influence of whatever it is I am reading at the time- whether that be Camus or the newspaper.
I also have a lot to learn about grammar and punctuation, which is why I tend to make it up as I go along in my stories and try to pass it off as my own style- does it work? ;-)
For those who have asked me in the past (times long gone) about why I tend to avoid naming my characters in some of my fics- for me the beaty of reading is individual interpretation. Letting the imagination run wild- if one person who reads my fic thinks that Hermione is the 'girl' I refer to and another thinks it is Luna I will be extremely pleased. I love the concept of each person reading a text in a different way, even if that means reading against the authors original intention.
