Author has written 5 stories for Sherlock, Avengers, and Captain America.
About me... ugh. These are the worst, hence my long standing silence on the matter. But, my vanity has reached a fever pitch so I've been driven to talk about myself.
Name: Not Layla. That's a reference to a favorite Classic rock song of Clapton's. Some of you have probably figured that out by my sad attempt at re-imagining the album art in oil pastels.
Age: Twenties. Old enough to have understood precisely why that white stain on Lewinsky's dress was scandalous when the news first broke, but too young to *clearly* remember the Challenger explosion. So... if you must know, there. Make an educated guess. *cough* "No disrespect, but clearly you were born in the eighties."
Location: 'Merica, somewhere in the Mid West. I'm not always sure where though, so much corn... and soy beans. I mean, how many uses can we find for soy, really, that warrants this many soy fields...
Current Pay Source: A University. I'm a PhD student in the Classics. Why? Because I don't plan on being financially stable... ever.
Interests: BBC's Sherlock; Doctor Who; Marvel; LOTR; Harry Potter; Merlin; Firefly; and the new kid on the block, Supernatural(*)
Favorite People: Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, RDJ, (and now not for looks (although Cumberbatch and Hiddleston have a special place in both of these categories for their immensely impressive brains and especially Hiddleston as a fellow classicist!)) Michael Crichton (we miss you and your brainy sci-fic), J.R.R. Tolkien (what a linguist!), Herodotus (yeah, as in the father of history... well, sort of history, he was really like the father of fan fiction so we owe him our allegiance...), Elizabeth I (I mean, cranky... yes, but what a woman), John Cleese (no explanation needed), The Brothers Green (DFTBA) and Grimm (keep your children in doors for God's sake!), Jane Austen, Van Gogh, Paul McCartney and the poetic collective known as Homer (childhood inspirations, 'WTF was wrong with you as a child?' I know... right?) and finally the queen, J.K. Rowling, I will always try to be Hermione thanks to her.
Favorite characters: I love the complicated ones, preferably a little light and a lotta dark. They're most interesting to me. So: Sherlock, obviously. Loki, again clearly. Remus Lupin. Tenth Doctor. You see the pattern.
If I had my way I'd hole up somewhere, live off my own little garden and read every book I could get my destitute little hands on. But that would mean no more internet, and that would mean no more raunchy fan fiction, and let's be honest... it's my favorite sustainable resource.
I like writing, but I'm not terribly good at it. Give me a 7500 word requirement for a monograph on religion in literature and I'll churn out a perfectly acceptable article but creative writing is a whole other animal. I like adjectives. That's about the only thing I and fiction have in common.
I'm an introvert who would be unabashedly content if 97% of the population never existed but I sure do like hearing from people on the internet. Maybe it's the lack of any true contact, or the possibility that any one of you could be a robot humoring me for the overlords, or the Doctor... either way, I like you people, so I'll gladly respond to messages or even volunteer to proof or Beta or whatever the newfangled process is called. There I go, betraying my age... Returning to the matter at hand, I like to read as much as or more than I do to write, so you know how to find me!
And that's all, little 'ole me in an unnecessarily indulgent set of paragraphs.
(*)I just (13/7/12) started watching the show, completed the first four seasons in three days and then found Castiel. Oh good god. The character is my spirit animal. Either way I like the show pretty well and some of my own, or I thought they were my own, motifs seem to have been anticipated by the writers. So, I naturally am interested in seeing how it turns out...
10/5/2014: Hello, kiddies! For those of you who pay attention to these unabashedly self-promoting spaces, I'm back to announce that I will be taking a break from my heretofore permanent hiatus for a one-time engagement. A single multi-chapter fic will be posted, two chapters per day, for the next two weeks. It's already completed, I'm just editing it and uploading it, but wanted to keep the suspense alive by posting incrementally. And no, I will not be posting anything else. No, not the promised sequel to 'Inside Out.' That's permanently shelved. I know, I'm a filthy, horrible liar. I'm sorry for all of you whom I've disappointed, if any. Toodles.
