Author has written 42 stories for Rise of the Guardians, Danny Phantom, Pokémon, Undertale, Transistor, My Hero Academia/僕のヒーローアカデミア, Pyre, Batman, and Fire Emblem. Hello there! I'm Blacknovelist (used to be pokeshadow55), but feel free to call me pretty much anything - though I do tend towards Novel or Novelist. I'm just an overenthusiastic student who tends to get maybe just a little bit distracted all the time and forget things easily if given the chance. I end up with plenty of ideas, but I have a bit of a hard time with things like fillers and planning, and sometimes I get nervous about some of my ideas too, I guess. I have been practicing and improving though, and someday, when I finally get my things together and really follow through on the big ones, I like to think it'll be good.
The only difference in stories between here and elsewhere (like tumblr/ao3) are most likely minor formatting issues and whatnot - you're not missing anything by looking here or there, I promise. Admittedly there are some stories I have not/will not get around to cross-posting to Tumblr and AO3, primarily the older stories. If there's something that isn't on AO3 (or tumblr) that you'd like to see there, feel free to drop by and say so. As well, there's the possibility of stories that I didn't put here, possibly due to lack of a section for a fandom, because of technical limitations, or even just because I forgot or didn't want to. Like with AO3 or tumblr, if you'd like to see a fic here, just let me know. Outgoing links don't work on FFnet apparently, only links to things still on the site, so I'm afraid url's don't work! You'll have to drop the usernames in the search bar along with the website. My Tumblr: blacknovelist AO3 Account: Blacknovelist Writing Blog (tumblr): reachingstars Regarding Fanwork: (note: the following has been copy-pasted from my AO3 account profile but is regardless applicable to what I've created in fandom spaces) Please feel free to remix, translate, podfic, or create secondary fanwork (whether art or fic) based on any fanworks that I've posted! I only ask that I and my work are credited/linked where due and that I be informed so I can take a peek. In regards to podfics, if minor edits of some flavor are ever necessary to smooth out the process, feel free to make them - I just ask that a note be made in your work that edits were made. Anything more substantial (or any questions), feel free to ask. Thank you! I'm really, really loose and un-picky about my fandoms and what I'll read. Generally, my policy is that I'll only read it if I feel like I have enough of a handle on characters/concepts from the original thing to fully appreciate what I'm reading. It's a pretty loose rule, and one that just doesn't apply altogether if it's a crossover and I recognize one of the fandoms well. I keep a more full list on the writing blog, but some of my primary interests include (but are not limited to) Pokemon, Danny Phantom, My Hero Academia, Sonic the Hedgehog, Kingdom Hearts, Etrian Odyssey, Tales of the Abyss, Pyre, Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy XV, Fire Emblem Three Houses, and Oneshot, along with a handful of other interests that tend to go on-and-off on my "I'm into it" radar (such as Soul Eater, Fullmetal Alchemist, Bastion, Transistor, Ben 10, Batman (plus some other DC series') and Tales of Symphonia). It's not the greatest of methods but I tend to bookmark fics in my browser instead of favouriting them, so my favourites here might not necessarily reflect some of the top fics I've read (or all the fics I've read, total). If you ever want extra recs, you just gotta ask, I've got just under ten thousand bookmarks and that's not even an exaggeration (I know, horrifying). And I really, really like crossovers and AU's! Especially crossover AU's. Harry Potter AU's tend to rank pretty highly, because it's always so much fun to see characters involved with houses and magic, and Pokemon crossovers/AU's definitely rank at the top of my "Favourite AU's and Crossovers of all Time" because I'm always here for anything involving Pokemon, honestly. But the run-of-the-mill "hey i've never seen you around before I'm from another universe how do you do" crossover stories never get old for me. Fix-it AU's, 'for-want-of-a-nail' AU's, and AU's that just generally change things so little or so much that everything's different and yet the same are pretty up there, definitely. Seeing how people might take some characters and plant them in a new world with a new plot while preserving those characters' motivations, personalities, and aspects of their character arcs is always so neat, I think. That being said, I can be a little picky about my AU's and characterization therein, so. Also, I'm a humongous sucker for tropes. Hurt/comfort tropes, family fluff tropes, if it's cute and heartwarming and adorable you can bet your ass that I love it already. You can also bet your ass I might love it if it's tragic as heck, though I tend towards happy endings nowadays. Although, ships are kept to a minimum here writing-wise, if they're ever seen at all. I'm all for friendship dynamics and family growth and that kind of stuff, I simply love the relationships between characters and the way they grow over the course of things! My Works: (Please feel free to ask me any questions about any and all of my stories/thoughts/ideas, whether here, on AO3 or on my tumblr! I'm a fan of talking about my thoughts when people ask. I also don't mind people using/borrowing/gaining inspiration from these ideas, as long as you mention me and/or tell me so I can look at it too.) Note: I'm sick of maintaining this so I'm not anymore \_(ツ)_/ That being said, I do still post here on occasion. Just, uh. Don't expect much in the way of updates here (unless this is more nifty to folks than I think, in which case -- drop me a msg somewhere so I can keep it maintained!) Completed/Oneshots: Danny Phantom: Silhouette: An angsty poetry drabble-ish story describing Danny's grief filled world when he left in order to prevent a world with Dan after the death of his family. Sort of a Song-fic(?) and AU. Probably the oldest thing I've written next to Battle at Burgess. Kitty Cat: A cute take inspired by a livestream conversation about how Vlad might have found Maddie the cat. Major H/C and Fluff of the friendly feline kind. Part 2 now posted. Warnings for animal death, but no explicit descriptions. Letters: A what-if thought that came to mind in the middle of the night. Because I don't believe Jack Fenton wouldn't send his own best friend letters in the hospital, nor not visit him without a good reason. Based off a post made by Ghost-Chicky on tumblr. Gold: A one-shot based off the song Gold, by Imagine Dragons. I definitely recommend giving the song a listen! All that glitters may not be gold, but in this case, we should be hoping that it isn't - Vlad finally gets the family he wants, but golden dreams are awfully fragile. Fate: For Phanniemay, it was written with the theme Portals. Danny finds that sometimes, certain things are just meant to happen. The Unknown: For Phanniemay, it was written with the theme Dream. Danny ponders why he went into the portal in the first place. Naturalis Porta: Just a super short oneshot I wrote a while ago and revamped for the Phanniemay segment Girl Power.Danielle finds something very interesting during her travels, and she's curious... Again and Again: A (somewhat hastily) oneshot written for the Time segment of Phanniemay, and based off a post on tumblr. Vlad keeps trying to 'create' someone to become the perfect child, and he doesn't plan on stopping any time soon. Together: A rush-written oneshot for the Favourite segment of Phanniemay. One of my favourite things about Danny Phantom is the friendship between Sam, Danny, and Tucker, so why not a fic about it? A huge amount of inspiration was taken from a set of headcanons on tumblr about the trio becoming friends. Recitation: Originally was planned to be longer but was instead shortened and left as it was. I'm considering adding more in relation to the idea I had, but for now it remains completed and a one shot. Warnings for injury, gore, and death. It's a bit more explicit in the details than my other stories. Each story has so many details, paths it could take, things that never happened (and that may never happen). Forever: Another Phanniemay story. Inspiration came from a prompt from , the story was written for the End segment of Phanniemay. Warnings for Suicide. It's a bit brief, but I'm pleased with the way it turned out. Forever is only as long as your life lasts. Me, Myself, and I: Originally planned to be a series surrounding a Jazz!Spectra AU. Written for the Phanniemay segment Alternate Universe, currently just a oneshot and likely to remain as such for a long time. A look at what led to Spectra's creation and birth. l Rise of the Guardians: Battle at Burgess: Based on the original panels for the movie, as I saw it. AU, set at the end of the movie. What if things had gone just a little bit differently back then? l Pokemon: The Reason for Her Tears: Just a bit of an experiment; an introspective look at Ruby, I guess? Definitely not my proudest work, but it'll do for now. She's afraid of him, and he knows exactly why. l Undertale: 'Tis the Season: a simple headcanon-based Undertale fic. the post for the headcanon, but reading it isn't necessary for the story. Just a little christmas drabble I whipped up for the holidays. Undyne asks a couple favours from friends, and gets a whole lot of holiday spirit for her troubles. l Transistor: The Empty Set: a Transistor Week fic written for the second theme of Day 5: City. Inspiration taken from a post on tumblr. Cloudbank was never meant to be so bleak, but her time is up. l My Hero Academia: Apology: Written for the prompt "Value Me" with Inko and Izuku and originally posted to tumblr. Set in the ageswap AU, where everyone's roles get switched around. There are just some days Izuku has a lot more on his mind than usual, and on the anniversary of a certain event, well... it's hardly as though he can keep them out of his thoughts. There are some things you can't stop feeling, no matter how many times you apologize. Still Here: Also written for a prompt on tumblr; "Haunt Me". Toshinori is broken after his fight against All for One, but Nana'll be damned if she lets her student go without a fight. Warnings for description of blood and injury. Out for a Spin: Part three of the "written for prompts" series! Set in the ageswap AU. Nemuri Kayama, also known as Midnight, is getting real tired of how sad everyone is after their teacher is released from the hospital, and decides they need to have a little fun to take their minds off everything. Lifetimes: Written for a prompt on tumblr and set in the Ageswap AU. Enji Todoroki, son of pro hero Shouto and student of Class 1-A, has had it up to here with his alternate pro-hero self, Endeavor. This is just the straw that breaks the camel's back. For You: Set in the ageswap AU, and written for Father's Day. Toshinori wants to thank Izuku for everything he's done for him, and Father's day gives him the perfect way to go about it. Good Enough: Set in the Ageswap AU, written in lieu of doing homework because of a sudden thought. A brief look into Enji and Toshinori's motivations during the Sports Festival arc, through the conversation where Todoroki spills his entire backstory to the person he's swearing to defeat. l Pyre: this rattle in my ears: Inspired by the knowledge that while the world of Pyre operates on the fictional Sahrian language, the songs are in English just like books and therefore no one actually knows what songs are about when Tariq (and Celeste) sing. I wanted to touch a little bit on the fact that only Readers can really understand the songs. The First Step: Currently a standalone, though there is possibility of loosely related standalones being written to go with it. A telling of how the Nightwings we first met and grew to love found each other and the blackwagon while in the Downside. and we are far, far from home (but we're so happy): Written for the 2017 SGG Secret Santa! My giftee asked for Mae/the Stowaway and focus on some happy funtimes, and what's more sappy than our sweet girl telling the Nightwings she loves them? Stands alone as-is and is thus classified as complete, but I considered writing a part two with what characters I hadn't included and it may still someday happen. l Crossover/AU: Incomplete: an AU Crossover set with Undertale and Transistor. Set in the Transistor universe with Undertale characters, currently just a oneshot. Whether a second related one is up for debate, but definitely not anytime soon. Sans the comedian has been becoming awfully popular as of late, leading the eye of a certain group of people to start following him... Too Late: A Toshinko BNHA-Transistor AU, in which the Transistor and the process exist in relation to a mix of technology and Quirks, but things manage to go wrong anyway. Toshinori struggles to return to UA grounds to warn everyone after being attacked, and all he can do in the end is hold Inko close and hope he makes it on time. l Works in Progress: Danny Phantom: Domus Amoris (Translation from Latin: "House/Family of Love"): a DP Story. A multi-chap fic, the prologue was posted and written for the AU Segment of Phanniemay. Part of a universe I refer to as the "Ghost Uncle" or GU AU. The premise: What if Vlad died in the accident but cared so much about Maddie and Jack that he came back? We've already thought about what would happen if Danny didn't survive his accident; why not the other halfa too? Will most likely comprise of a series of oneshots, not necessarily in chronological order. Current Status: Well the second 'shot is here, along with a little bonus third one. I'm open to GU suggestions, as always. The fourth is... a work in progress. l Undertale: Sleepy-Eyes: an AU fic based off post from Upperstories about the timeline becoming distorted and a certain baby mysteriously finding its way into the lives of two very specific skeletons. Will most likely be part of a larger series with its name up for debate. There's so many ideas and stuff about this AU though like man, what cute fluff. I love fluff. Current Status: Right now it's just a oneshot, and likely to simply become a series of oneshots. l My Hero Academia: Adventures in Hero-ing: A series of unrelated oneshots that used to be only on tumblr that I've started cross-posting for the heck of it. Usually from prompts, and can be within any setting under the sun. If you send in a fic request and it's too short to be by itself, it'll go here instead. As such, it'll always be perpetually completed, and perpetually in-progress. Feel free to ask about any prompts you see. Series Works: My Hero Academia: Dorm Life: The newly dubbed series that follows the adventures of the Heights Alliance 1A dorm building. Minor spoilers for approximately Ch. 95 of the manga and beyond. Starts with New Management, but all other fics are only loosely related to it so although you'd be without context for a few things, reading it isn't completely necessary for the series. New Management: Based off a headcanon by the-button-harlequin from tumblr. Check the blog or my AO3 for the link to the headcanon post! Features Dad Might, potential Toshinko, Mama Midoriya being Mama Midoriya to Class 1A, and some brief appearances from hairstylist Katsuki. Never underestimate the power of a mom and a smile. The base fic of the series. Star Children: The kids decide to take their "parents" out to watch a meteor shower, and Toshinori can't say no. Based off several Stargazing headcanons I had on tumblr. A Place to Be: AU from NM. Inspired by headcanons guardianlioness and I shared with each other. Hisashi comes to the dorms to visit his son, but who needs a father who hasn't appeared in years when you've got everything you need right here? Note: There's a wonderful sequel to NM called Just another night by Sevi007 and it's absolutely fantastic, please go read it and give them lots of love. It features all your favourite things from New Management, plus a lot more!! Status: Because this series is composed of loosely related fics, there's no set time any new fics will show up. l Heroes of Time: An Explorers of Time/Sky/Darkness crossover AU for BNHA that vaguely follows the overall plot of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, with references to Red/Blue Rescue Team, but kind of goes off on it's own tangents for some plot/character aspects. No spoilers except for in characters, but that's not a concern right now. Not necessarily posted or written in chronological order, most stories can be read as standalone unless otherwise noted. Prior knowledge of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games is not strictly needed to understand the series, though it would probably help. Future Sight: A mid-plot fic that can take place anywhere from after Izuku joins the guild (at earliest) and before he graduates (at latest). Izuku isn't aware of just how much he doesn't actually remember. Destiny Bond: The first fic in the series, chronologically speaking. An exploration of Izuku and Toshinori's first moments in the past, and snapshots of the events leading up to their arrival at the guild. Alternating perspective. Future and Past Explorations into Izuku, Tenya, Ochako and Toshinori's adventures in the future of darkness, after Shigaraki dragged them there in an attempt to finish them off once and for all. --P1 - UNNERVE: - 1 - shelter: In the aftermath of their flight from Shigaraki, Izuku muses on the strange relationship he holds with this grim place. Metronome: A series of oneshots based in the Heroes of Time verse that don't have titles attached to them that I still want to post. --P1 - Names: A little drabble exploring a worldbuild-y detail i added to the au, which is the concept that "last names/second names" are a human thing. l Watch the Stars: A series of (mostly) unrelated oneshots written around the shared theme of watching the stars and catching a meteor shower - the Perseids meteors, to be precise. Started and generally based on the Perseids outburst from August 2016. It started with wanting to see characters watch the meteors, and escalated into stargazing from there. If there's any certain group of characters you want to see written in the series, please feel free to send it my way! Ideas are always welcome. Setting Sun: Just two boys walking to the bus stop late one day on their way home Star Children: The kids decide to take their "parents" out to watch a meteor shower, and Toshinori can't say no. Based off several Stargazing headcanons I had on tumblr. Status: My entire process for this AU is accurately summed up as *elaborate series of shrugs*. Whether a new part is coming up is up in the air. |
