Script Summary: Restores the ability to select and copy text again, on Fanfiction.net, after site change of Oct 8, 2013. Now also re-enables "Control-A" to select everything on the page or in the review box -- depending on which has focus.
Install Greasemonkey, add this script, and never look back.
Greasemonkey for Firefox:
Tampermonkey for Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tampermonkey/dhdgffkkebhmkfjojejmpbldmpobfkfo
Opera: Limited support (?); all the pages that used to talk about it seem to have been removed.
If you want to pass on the script, I'm overjoyed. Spread the love, people. This needs to go viral.
Thanks to Drk Phoenyx and Igwash for betareading Killu, Killu!
Drk Phoenyx, I'm so sorry, you're a lifesaver, always ready to extend an emdash to a writer in need,
and also thanks to Igwash, for writing those 'example scenes' (read: most of the story).
To the guest who told me when I was breaking the rules (second person): Thank you, and I'm terribly sorry; the fic has now been removed.
To anyone who cares about the poem and wants to read it (it's Silmarillion-fandom, not HxH): I've reposted it on my AO3 account, which is under the same name as this one.
The admins of FanFiction are just about useless when it comes to actually taking down rulebreaking stories. People who want to remove pornography, non-story content, and blatant plagiarism sometimes try reporting it, but they nearly always fail. There have been petitions, organizations, and meetings. There have been jokes and bitchfits. There has been rabid backlash from rulebreaking writers, bystanders, and the falsely reported when takedowns succeed.
Blaming the admins is pointless. Supporting the admins is pointless. Reporting to the admins is sometimes worse than pointless. Their actions do not change.
I propose that the users of this site have the power to take matters into our own hands.
If an extension were written that compiled lists of rule-breaking stories and non-rule-breaking stories and which rules were broken, and it had enough users adding data to it, people could choose whether to see certain types of content that are currently shoved in our faces. False reports would not be fatal to a story; no one would lose work; there would be no five-month delays.
Anyone who would consider installing and using this extension, please PM me; it would be encouraging to know there are others who care. Anyone who would consider helping to write this extension, please PM me. I have never worked on userscripts or add-ons before and am not sure what creating one would entail.
If a certain Panda Master X is seen with a copy of Assassin's Pride, don't flag for plagiarism; he has my full permission to continue the story, including hosting what I've written on his page.
I'm currently looking for a beta to collaborate with on rewriting a particularly disgusting specimen of my own work. Killu, Killu is in the Hunter x Hunter fandom and focuses on the deuteragonist, Killua, and his relationship with his family. Here are a list of known issues:
Ideally, I'd like someone who is familiar with several translations of the infamous ep30/ep20/vol5 Illumi/Killua fight scene, including the second musical ("Nightmare of Zaoldyeck"). The musical is the primary canon of my story, with the 1999 anime as secondary canon and the manga/2011 tertiary. However, anyone who knows Killua's basic characterization (i.e. all HxH fans) is fine. Also, I'd ideally be working with an adult, due to those MA ideas and the fact that the current version has a strong M/16-plus rating (mostly for themes, not content) and requires a correspondingly strong stomach.
Interested beta readers, please PM me.
You have my permission to copy and paste any of the following items into your profile and/or modify them if you so desire. However, I did not necessarily create them.
This disclaimer may also be used, in whole or in part, with or without cred, by anyone who wants it.
I wish DB had better furigana. ;(...
Please, help get this message to 'bogoboo.com' and any other Heartbleed-vulnerable sites! The contact form appears to be broken; anyone who can get ahold of the site's support email is officially my hero.
This website ("bogoboo. com"; remove spaces in URL) is vulnerable to the Heartbleed exploit. Heartbleed is a major acknowledged bug in the SSL encryption algorithm: "www. bbc. com/news/technology-26969629". Your SSL keys are at risk; if they are stolen, your site can be impersonated and your users' data stolen. Even data which ordinarily never leaves your servers can be stolen by anyone from professional hackers to 4chan script kiddies.
Note that at least one authorized patch ("cnet. com/news/akamai-heartbleed-patch-not-a-fix-after-all") didn't actually solve the problem. Authorization has since been removed, but code/binaries/instructions may still be online.
Please update your SSL version or apply a patch as soon as possible.
If there are factual inaccuracies (or typos) in this message, PM me (Bushwah) and I will fix them immediately.

You know I'll respond; why wouldn't you review?
Did you know that you can get free, legal Japanese shows from Crunchyroll? Now, the "free" part shouldn't raise many eyebrows among fansub watchers, but let's face it, unless one is Japanese or seriously into the culture, legality is probably not something one is used to in anime.
The free selection is good, including all of Shippuden but not the original Naruto, and the quality is better than many fansubs. It's ad-supported -- even louder than the ones we all know from Hulu -- but even with that, CR is definitely my go-to anime site. I feel good about going there, because I'm directly supporting the anime industry by watching said ads. Also available is free manga created by the users, though its quality isn't exactly reliable.
And of course, there's more. As with many sites, and yes, Hulu is my example again, the really awesome part of Crunchyroll is in the memberships.
An anime-only membership will get rid of the ads and punch the quality up to real 1080p HD on all anime videos. You also get access to more shows, and new episodes are simulcast with Japan (well, an hour later, but still) instead of a week behind. It's kind of expensive, unfortunately, running at almost seven bucks a month. That doesn't sound like much, until you realize, wait, this is seven dollars a month for the rest of my life. Because seriously, no one can give up HD anime once they've tried it. No one.
Which brings me to my third point of the day, and wow this is getting long, which is: there's something very strange which happens on CR every couple of weeks. I call it "the miracle". It sets in at the beginning of a video, when I'm first loading the page. During the miracle, all the ads disappear. The video player covers the whole area where the banner ads used to display. There's a strange flickering in the video box, like it's trying to call up an ad and failing. Then, my eyes bug out as the episode comes up in microscopic detail.
Yes, it's HD. I don't know where it comes from. Maybe there's an Anime Fairy that gives out these things. Maybe Crunchyroll is doing it on purpose, in order to show us peasants what real food looks like. I don't particularly care, either. I only know that I've never been a premium member, and I'm already hooked on HD.
Beat that, Hulu.
