Quick notes for my readers*
*12/26/2020: CONTINUING NOTE ON UPDATES*
I received a reply from an agent just before Christmas and using his feedback am adjusting my manuscript to focus on a middle-grade audience instead of YA. Once that's done, I'll start my next round of queries, this time in the MG market. I'm feeling really good about this change. Elements of the story make more sense now and have more impact. Plus, I'm not sure the adult or YA crowds are ready for something like this, anyway.
Anyone interested in checking out my work can find it on FB under the page name D.T. Powell, Author.
Check back here if you're ever wondering what's going on. I'll keep you posted. (: Thanks, guys.
*12/26/2020: To those here because of my efforts editing "Second Chance, a New Choice"*

Hello to any visitors who may read this.
I'm currently working in receiving at Wal-mart as well as working on an actual book for publication (hopefully soon to be finished and sold). I love reading, working with my music, spending time at my church, learning new software, writing, playing board games with family and friends, and spending time with my husband.
Another thing you probably need to know about me is that I'm a Christian - I believe that Jesus Christ shed His own blood on the cross for me and that I have eternal life through faith in Him. I will very readily admit that anything that I post on this site, like anything else that I do everyday, is effected by my faith.
God has done so much for me that I can't help but praise Him for it.
Most of my stories that will be posted on this site were inspired by songs that I love. I will do my best to note my sources of inspiration at the end of every piece.
I am also Jewish - by blood - so my current big fanfic endeavor centers around a number of individuals who are also of Jewish descent.
Quick note on my philosophy of music:
I believe that every song ever written is the product of one (or more) mind, heart, life experience, relationship with God (or lack thereof), and musical aptitude. Music is a communication of someone else's heart- their inner man; when someone sings or writes a song they are revealing the core of who they are. I believe from personal experience that it is possible to know the heart of another person through their music. I've been able to get to know many people I've never met (or met only briefly) through listening to their music. Once I described someone's personality to my fiance, and that person got up to speak and described himself in exactly the same words that I had just used. How many times had I talked with this man? One - many years ago. How many years had I been listening to him sing? About ten.
To those of you who don't listen to - and don't wish to start listening to - sacred music, if you are a Christian, you're missing out. Good sacred music allows you to meditate on God, His word and your own life and heart in light of God's truth. It is also a very wonderful communion with the Holy Spirit. I cannot tell you how my life changed because of spending time every day with God, and His Word and being able to commune with the Holy Spirit in such a powerful way.
