Author has written 1 story for Elder Scroll series.
Greetings and salutations, my dear internet user.
Here is the story of me and my experiences in the world of fanfiction.
GalaxyInfinite is not my real name, if you haven't worked it out already. It's not even my usual online name. I came up with this name when I started writing Silence is Eternal, because I wanted to be anonymous.
I started reading fanfiction because I was sad. Every time I finished a good book, or TV series, or movie, or game, I would get sad because there was no more story to read / watch / play. The characters I love would just stop. The plot I've been engaged in would end. And I would feel empty inside.
Reading fanfiction helped fill that emptiness, as my mind got transported to a fictional world filled with the characters I love. I quickly learned that not all fanfiction is equal, so now I always try to look for the best stories.
I read fanfiction for a year before I started writing. I wanted to write my own fanfiction for a while, but I just couldn't think of any good ideas. Then one day I was playing a mod for Oblivion called Dark Brotherhood Chronicles, which was an extension of the Dark Brotherhood questline. I had been anticipating this mod for a while, and when it came out I was a little bit disappointed by the plot. And that got my mind working, and I thought wouldn't it be cooler if...
And then my first ideas for Silence is Eternal were born. At first it was just a series of images in my mind, showing a situation. Then I thought of how that situation could have occurred, what lead up to that point, what would happen as a result of that situation. And then a story began to form. (If you're wondering, that situation hasn't appeared in the story yet.)
My story isn't based on the mod Dark Brotherhood Chronicles, nor is my story inspired by it, but it is what started me thinking about what I want in a Dark Brotherhood story. And without it, Silence is Eternal wouldn't exist.
I started writing down my ideas for the story. And then I started writing the story. As I wrote the story, my ideas changed over time. The story evolved because I followed the personalities of the characters rather than sticking to my own ideas. In a sense, the characters had their own ideas of how the story should be.
I wrote 18 chapters of the story, before I stopped. I stopped for several reasons. Firstly, I am a slow writer. It often takes me hours to write just a thousand words. I'm not very good with words; in my mind I have the story I want to write, but I find it really difficult to translate my ideas into words. I get frustrated with how much of my time is lost when I am writing.
Secondly, I got to a point in my story where I didn't know what was going to happen next. I think this is what people call "writer's block". This is my first time writing a story of this scale, so this is the first time I've had writer's block.
Thirdly, I had an awful lot of real life to do. I started writing Silence is Eternal when I was 16 (in 2012), and I stopped at the end of that year. The year after that (2013) was my final year of high school, so I focused all of my time on learning and study and stuff. I didn't even play video games that year.
In the summer after that, I still didn't write anything because I'd gotten pretty side-tracked, and writing fanfiction wasn't the first thing on my mind. For ages, I felt really guilty about not updating my story. I know what it's like to get really engaged in a story, but then the story just stops. Eventually I persuaded myself that I shouldn't feel guilty about not updating for a year. There are things more important than fanfiction.
In 2014 I started studying Computer Science at my first choice of University. I've loved programming computers since I first started when I was 14, so I knew exactly what I wanted to do at University. I'm also really good at it too (I always worry that people will think badly of me if I brag, but someone told me that I'm allowed to brag about stuff if it is true).
Near the end of the year, I was offered an internship at a major internet / software company. I jumped at the opportunity, and they flew me over to their office after I finished my Uni exams. During my internship, I told one of the other interns about my story. This got me thinking again about my story (which I hadn't updated for two years), and I had a sudden flood of new ideas.
I now know what's going to happen next in the story. I've known the ultimate destination of the story since before I started writing it, but for a while I was stuck on what happens between now and then. I don't know when I'll find the time to continue Silence is Eternal. Real life is rather busy. As I write this, I've just finished my internship, and I'm just about to start my second year at University. And I keep getting lots of cool opportunities with my studies. Life as an adult is so busy. But I really really want to finish this story.

These are just some ideas I have for potential future fanfics...
X-Men First Class: While Charles is in hospital for his spine injury, he meets a scared little girl in her imaginary world. Why is she in hospital?
Assassin's Creed: The story of Subject 16, and how he programmed an AI of himself in the Animus, while the machine slowly devoured his sanity. Based on The Lost Archive DLC from Revelations. I study computer science, so I'm going to try to make this as realistic as possible. (However, Assassin's Creed is fantasy. The whole thing about accessing the memories of ancestors by decoding DNA probably wouldn't be possible in the real world.)
Command and Conquer (Tiberium): The teenage daughter of a GDI officer is frustrated after her parents refuse to let her become a soldier, so she becomes a hacker. One day she finds the mainframe of the Brotherhood of Nod.
Video Game High School: A strange romance between The Law and Ki Swan. Starts during Season 2. (This one is probably weird and obscure.)
