Author has written 27 stories for Dragon Age.
Me: I love to write, I love Dragon Age. I'm also a voracious reader. Some of my favorite authors: Kate Atkinson, Jane Austen, J.R.R. Tolkien, Dan Simmons, Jim Butcher, John Scalzi and of course, Neil Gaiman. Each one has influenced my writing in different ways.
Twitter: Inspired by my dear friend Fenzev, I am now on twitter @wintryone.
Artwork: The beautiful avatar you see here was created by the talented Ekocentric, who also created the cover art for Between Heaven and the Abyss, The Misadventures of Mari Hawke: Redux, Next To Me and A Honeymoon Tale. You should go right now and check out her work on deviantart. My artwork for True Story was beautifully drawn for me by HikariYagami22.
Beta: Although I'm not taking on any new beta work, I occasionally beta for Fenzev and also for HikariYagami22, both very talented writers. Fenzev has tons of stories on ffnet, every single one of which I love. Go read them, they are awesome! HikariYagami22 is writing an Origins story called Kallian’s Sketchbook, and I adore it! (especially Noah) She has created a virtual sketchbook for the story on deviantart.
Update April 2015: Several readers have asked the order in which to read about Mari and Fenris. Here's the chronological order of them -
* The Misadventures of Mari Hawke
* Misadventures, A Collection of Shorts, which includes: Time Alone, Home is Where the Heart Is, Family Secrets, and Sometimes Magic Happens
* Between Heaven and the Abyss
* For the Love of Melody
* A Honeymoon Tale
Also, A Wolf in the Water can be read at anytime after chapter 28 of Misadventures.
Thank you all so much for continuing to read my stories of Mari and Fenris!
Basalit-an: A story I coauthored with Fenzev and Lucien Grey - This story took on a magical life of its own. Fenzev and Lucien are incredibly talented, and we had so much fun writing it. It’s was published under Fenzev’s ffnet account - here’s the link: Basalit-an
It’s an Arishok/Hawke story that I think you will love :) Click the link - check it out!
Ambrosia: A completely AU version of Kirkwall and DA2 that I think will surprise and delight you. Finally, a longer story with Hawke and Anders, which has me very happy and excited! The plot line is cleverly twisty, mostly due to Fenzev's brilliance :) update: May 2015 - we're writing this story again - check it out! October 2015 - on hiatus.
True Story: *My huge apologies that this story was cut short. To put it simply, RL and other writing projects got in the way. I'm leaving up the chapters I wrote, because Varric would kill me if I took it down. Seriously.*
DA2 Varric style! In this story there was a sassy, flirty Hawke and a very hyperbolic dwarf. The idea for this story came about during fun conversation with Fenzev.
The wonderful cover art is by HikariYagami22, who I think loves Varric as much as I do :) The original on Deviantart her deviantart page.
The Misadventures of Mari Hawke: This is the story that began my adventure on ffnet. I originally wrote these nearly 200K words in less than four months - it was like magic the way it poured from my fingertips! I met so many wonderful new friends, who were kind enough to give me tons of reviews and lots of encouragement along the way. For the new release, Marina Boccuzzi was my beta, and Fenzev also helped me to make it as pretty and shiny as possible :)
Misadventures: A Collection of Shorts: After I finished writing Misadventures, the twins would not leave me alone! I began writing one-shots and limited chapter stories for them and for Mari & Fenris! It was through writing these shorter pieces that the inspiration for Between Heaven and the Abyss eventually arose. These stories are in important bridge between Misadventures and Between :) Includes four complete pieces: Time Alone, Home is Where the Heart Is, Family Secrets and Sometimes Magic Happens.
Sibling Missives: A collection of letters between Fenris and his sister Varania. I love writing in letter form, and it seemed a great way to explore some of the mysteries of Fenris' past. Although it hasn't been updated in a while, there remains the possibility that I will add more, eventually.
Between Heaven and the Abyss: Evidently, the twins wanted an epic tale written for them, because I chose to pit them against the Dalish gods, of all things! I love continuing to write the DA characters, but there are a lot of original characters in this story as well. Yes, it stretched my talents to the breaking point at times, but it was a labor of love! Both Fenzev and Jaden Anderson were so helpful as I brought this story to life. Also, Ekocentric and csorciere were amazingly supportive and asked the best questions ever!
Last but not least, Liso66 was my beta for this story - she was amazing to work with and I appreciate her efforts more than I can say!
Link to Little Black Creatures (especially drawn for this chapter by the ever-lovely and talented Ekocentric) can be found on her deviantart page. Thank you my friend!!
Another wonderful gift, this time from HikariYagami22! A beautiful sketch of Erynon! She captured him so well, and I’m so grateful :) Go check out all her wonderful sketches on deviantart.
A Live Coal in the Heart: This was my first try at a one-shot, and has been hugely successful. I think that's because I wrote it straight from my heart, using DA to help me translate some real life experiences. In essence, it is a story of healing and forgiveness, and I'll always be grateful for the inspiration that allowed me to write this.
The Tell-Tale Idol: A Funalis challenge, this little story was great fun to write. Meredith is a character I love to hate, and exploring her insanity was way too much fun.
Demons: Sometimes the stories just come out, and you have no idea where they came from, lol. That's the case with this one - I have no explanation for it ;)
The Trouble With Templars: Another one-shot, this one inspired by Fenzev's awesome mod screen shots of Carver. I mean, the boy looked SEXY! It's always been sort of a thing that Fenzev will write a story for all the characters in DA who are usually ignored. I guess this was my little shot at giving her a hand with that ;) It was great fun to write, and it did make me like Carver a whole lot more.
One Night: Breaking new ground once again, and getting braver all the time, I wrote this sexy one-shot just for the fun of it. I jokingly blame a lot of things on Fenzev, and this one is her fault, too; more sexy pictures, some wonderful beta-ing and lots of encouragement. She provided the cover art, too! Yes, I blame Fenzev but in a good way :)
Wintersend Silence: A very short one-shot written with a slight holiday theme. The very best thing about writing is the relief that can come with emotions expressed. Plus, a bit of Hawke/Fenris yum is always a pleasure :)
Wolf in the Water: One-shot written for Ekocentric! The premise was Fenzev’s idea. Tons of fun to write all this fluff. I heart Mari and Fenris so very much.
Next to Me: I wrote a prompt! Yay! This story was a gift for my friend Ekocentric. She had a dream of Fenris in a military compound, and together we came up with the plot for this story. I wrote it all in one sitting, without a break, which is unusual for me. It was a wonderful experience, and I thank Ekocentric for allowing me to bring her “dream” to life, in a way. Here’s the link to the original cover art on Devianart: Eleana/Fenris
Healing Magic: Fenzev challenged me to write this story, based on a premise she’d thought of surrounding Hawke and Anders. I’m so glad she gave it to me :) Now I have finally, finally written Anders as an LI! Yay! I grew so very fond of that mage writing him for BHA, so this ended up being the best kind of challenge because it was so much fun to write!
For Love of Melody: This prompt was a lovely idea from HikariYagami22, and was great fun to write. It’s awesome how Melody and Erynon became as real as the DA caste to me. Also, at long last, I can say that Melody was named after Fenzev. So, this story was, in a way, written for two of my favorite fanfic writers. What could be better?
A Honeymoon Tale: A two chapter piece of fluff with Mari and Fenris to celebrate my one year anniversary on ffnet. I heart these two so much! Cover art by Ekocentric - thank you so much!
Just A Little Pinprick: This one-shot had been simmering in my brain for months before I actually wrote it. In some ways it's a parable, or a teaching story. I think it speaks for itself.
A Monster Inside: Three hours, one morning, and this was done. One of the most magical things about writing is how you can draw from your own experience and translate it into fictional characters. I think it's one of my favorites, now.
Our Lady's Tale: This little fic was published in small chapters, and is about Witherfang, Swiftrunner and Our Lady, written in a quasi-lyrical style. Slightly AU, I followed the muse on this one. She whispered, and I wrote. Another brilliant story idea given to me by Fenzev :)
Hawke's Last: My small tribute to the ending of DA2 and the beginning of Inquisition.
Desert Night: A one shot of Solas and the Inquisitor in a rare private moment.
Ma Vhenan- Solas and the Inquisitor: A series of vignettes written about the star-crossed love of Solas and Lavellan.
*Disclaimer: Bioware owns all this stuff*
Thank you to everyone who has read, reviewed and added me to their favorites & follows!
