But then Adora leaves and Catra shatters. Brittany is McKinley's resident rebel who doesn't see much point to high school and who is also kind of a math genius. Santana is Lima's golden child, the perfect, cold, terrifying, and unapproachable only child of public figure Dr. Lopez. Unfortunately for her, Brittany's about to get a crash course in the complete mystery that is Santana when she is assigned as her math tutor.

Santana hates being in the audience of anything because she wants to be backstage managing the show instead of just watching it. She hates it even more when it's a show that she used to run. One-shot in the "be my fire in the cold (and I'll be your mistletoe)" universe.

Santana gasps and glares at her in mock insult, "As if I'd take you on a date to a carwash." Brittany shrugs, "Why else would you pick me up in a dirty truck?" Or: Now that Santana knows that this whole thing they've been doing since the summer was dating, she has the perfect plan to take Brittany out on their official first date where they both know that they're girlfriends.

Brittany's had to interview at lot of strange witnesses as a detective, but this one is definitely the most adorable. She's got dark hair and dark eyes, there's leaves stuck in her ponytail and a water stains on her apron. She's also clutching a bloody towel to her hand and cursing like a sailor. When the production stage manager for George Balanchine's The Nutcracker, starring one Brittany S. Pierce, is fired seven shows into its run, Santana is hired and thrown into the production with barely any preparation.

"So, it's Friday," Santana singsongs, and Brittany grins because she has a feeling she knows what Santana's about to ask since it's that time of year again, and it's kind of a tradition for them, "and I was wondering if you had any plans tonight? And if not, I was wondering if you would do me the honour of accompanying me to the opening night of the midway in Cridersville."

Brittany thinks that Santana Lopez is the prettiest girl she's ever seen in her entire life. From the first day of rehearsals for Mercedes Jones' first ever tour, Brittany's kind of become obsessed with making her smile. / Santana thinks that Brittany is amazing, and really, really pretty, and a genius, and her best friend, and she's maybe just the tiniest bit in love with her.

In one story, they almost don't ever meet. That would have been their saddest one; if she had have been a little faster, if she had have been a little slower, if they didn't keep crossing their wires they would have met. But that's a story that never really happens, and it's also not the only story. Or: An exploration of soulmates and fate and AUs.

You transfer to McKinley in grade eleven, and the lady who gives you your locker number winces as she passes the small slip of paper to you across her desk. You don't quite understand her grimace, but your mom signs some forms and, just like that, you're officially a student of McKinely High School. Or: The awkward teenager whose locker was in between Santana and Brittany's.

It's not until Brittany's left the cafe that she realizes that the paper in her hand isn't paper at all. It's a polaroid, new and shiny and glossy; just smudges of freckled skin and bright, bright blue eyes, crinkled and sparkling in amusement. Santana's heart thuds as she flips the polaroid over and finds, instead of the desired phone number, loopy script that reads "Find me."

She's halfway to putting the earpieces into Santana's ears when Santana blinks out of her daze and looks up in question. Brittany just grins adoringly at her. "I'm putting the stethoscope in your ears," she explains in her duh tone. Then her smile softens and her eyes turn warm; she looks bashful and bright. "I want to— I want to show you how fast my heart goes when you kiss me."

"In 1997, psychologist Arthur Aron conducted an experiment to see if strangers could fall in love. Single volunteers were arranged into pairs. They were asked to work through 36 questions and then stare into each other's eyes for four minutes. Aron's experiment worked. Six months later two of his participants were married." In the end it's Mercedes who convinces Santana to sign up.

Santana had a shitty day at work. One of those days were everything that could go wrong, did. All she wants to do is go home and get the remnants of soup out of her hair, and then spend the rest of the evening cuddling with Brittany. Except, when she gets home, there is no sign of her her wife. The only sign of life is Lord Tubbington wandering into the front hallway with a meow.

"When are you planning on proposing?" Mercedes prompts. Santana shrugs nonchalantly as she answers, "I wanna do it back in Lima. Maybe during homecoming or something. But I don't know if I can wait that long." Or: A short three part story regarding the Brittana proposal.
