Hello Harry Potter fans!
I'm very glad to be here, and I look forward to interacting with everyone. Although I began reading the books before OoTP came out, I didn't really start going to the websites, posting in forums or anything until just before DH came out. Maybe that's why I still enjoy it so much almost five years later or it could just be because I'm a die-hard HP fan. Okay, so it's probably more due to the latter.
Desperate for more Harry after the end of the last book I started getting into fanfiction. Like many authors, my foray into the world of writing came along when I just couldn't find a story that was exactly like what I imagined happening after the final battle. That's not to say that I haven't enjoyed the work of many many authors, because I have. It's so wonderful to see how everyone interpreted things and watch different scenarios play out.
I've also learned a great deal over the years, not only about Harry, but about how to weave a story and about myself. Even though I'm working in a fantastical world, I've noticed that using my own life experiences, hopes and dreams has made my work much deeper and easier to relate to for readers. If that's one bit of advice I can give to new writers, that's it -- use what you know. When you come across something you're not sure about, do some research. I can't say that everything I've written is 100% accurate, even within the Harry Potter world (although I do try), some things have remained even when I've been informed that they were wrong simply because they add something to the story that I can't achieve otherwise.
I respond to just about every review, even if it's just to say thank you, so feel free to drop me a line if you get a chance. Every writer who wishes to improve thrives on constructive criticism. Tell me what works or doesn't and why, if you can put a finger on it. As this story progressed over the years, suggestions for changes or tweaks have improved it a thousand-fold. Conversely, letting me know what one really likes (specifically) can be helpful as well. There have been things that I've considered removing from the story but didn't because of reviewers saying that they liked that particular thing.
That being said and looking into my crystal ball a la Professor Trelawny, I foresee a happy new home here at ff.com!
Notice- I'm currently on hiatus. It's been so long since I've actually sat down and read the books that they are beginning to feel like a faint memory. Both Jet (the author I beta for) and I have decided to take a serious break and do a thorough reread. Please trust me when I tell you that the wait WILL be worth it! I love all of you and thanks to everyone that has been enjoying the story.
