Cos's Complaining Track Log:
So to keep you guys entertained until after finals (and until after Cos unwinds), I figured I'd attempt to make some profile update that you might find amusing for some reason (probably because of my complaining). I'd say more but I'll start a new entry first:
4/10: ...I don't know why I'm not using GoodNightJournal for this. Anyway, I'm probably doing the technical report and the bill of materials for the team (since one of my teammates says that I should do something HELPFUL). In between I'm also going to learn THE SOLE MICROSOFT OFFICE PROGRAM THAT I DID NOT LEARN TO USE, which would be Excel. I swear, out of all the programs...whatever. My fall schedule is also pretty much botched. I may potentially only be going for 3-4 classes, most of which would only be Monday, Wednesday, Friday. SIGH.
4/14: Okay, I gained sanity; ignore my previous note here.
Aaand for the summer, look forward to that StreetPass Plaza 'Find Mii' parody (I'm thinking of titling it 'Help Mii, Save Mii!' but I have a few other options). I'm sorry, but I haven't been feeling in a very parody-esque mood and having nothing to stress over really helps my creative muse. I just want to make sure I can pack everything in, so progress might be slow.
I've been cleaning up 'Cool and Calm' as well as 'The Kirby Crew's Vacation', but progress has been behind-the-scenes and rather slow to boot. The end of school is exactly one month away as of this update, and my chemistry grade is very close to being a C. If I get a C, I MUST retake it at some point, and that will royally suck...for both you and me. My teacher says that I can land a solid B, but only if I get an 85% on my final. I'm not going to count on that, though, so I have to take extra measures. As for my other classes, they're manageable, but I'd prefer to keep them under control. So hang in there, guys. I know my PM box is overflowing (I cringe to look at it...) and you've received next to no updates, but...I can't really do much. Most of my work is in fragments; wrapping it up would result in rushed work, and I want to give you my best. You'll probably receive the same response from any college-attending-FFN-writer, but...yeah, it's true. I won't drop off on you.
On the subject of PMs/betaing: I realize that I may not always respond to most PMs promptly. However, those of you who've worked with me know that I will ALWAYS respond/read to beta work and I fully intend to do this. Editing comes VERY naturally to me and as long as the project doesn't need TOO much to fix (I will usually say something if it needs a lot of work; better to say something than put a really rough draft out), I can still give my advice and slam it back to you in the timespan of a day, unless I have a test in which it will be two days (provided it's not holiday-or-date-related). I will also be reviewing stories on my regular whimsy, so don't take my reviews as a sign of stable activity. I just need SOMETHING to brighten up my day, so even if I'm practically absent, I can't stay away entirely. Anyway. PMs related to beta work and the actual jobs are still on normal schedule. I repeat, I enjoy editing and intend to keep my promises.
...BY THE WAY, if anybody wanted to play 3DS games online with me during my leave of absence, I'd give you my friend code. :) Hey, I need some fun from somewhere! I have (Mario Kart 7, Mario Tennis Open, and possibly Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon in the future).
Also, if you wanted to play Animal Crossing: New Leaf with my sister (Phantom Cockroach; she's a HUGE Animal Crossing nut), I'm sure I could persuade her...she's a bit strange to deal with at times, but she's completely into the game. Maybe a little too much. She could probably tell you every difference between New Leaf and AC:GCN.
Stuff That Might Come Up in Future Stories
All right, I'm gonna say this right off the bat. Usually in (most) scenarios in my stories, bad and good are strictly laid out. There is rarely any pity for the villain. Why? I'm sick and tired of pity puddles for villains just because they have the 'hotter' designs and more lines of dialogue and because of that much-hated quote I hear as an excuse 'I'm tired of the good guys winning.' LOOK AT THE WORLD. LOOK HOW MANY GOOD GUYS ARE DEFEATED. I'm tired of wallowing in darkness. Why the heck can't I be happy? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that a main point of living is TO BE HAPPY. I'm sick of seeing how those with good intentions are dismissed as fools, and everything else wrong with the world. Humans are total jerks sometimes. At least in a fantasy, I can be happy, because no matter how much struggle light has to go through, light wins in the end. And I know that it works like that in the real world, but honestly, there's enough dark stuff out there already. Those who have to wallow in darkness apparently haven't had enough of it...you know what; I'm going to stop talking here because I'm making myself depressed. Nobody likes a depressed Cos.
...besides, evil overlords give rise to perfect character development in other sections; heh heh...
Back to business!
Something different from most writers on here is that, after looking at the anime and game better, I prefer a brotherly relationship between Kirby and Meta Knight rather than a father/son. There's nothing wrong with that; I'll still read it, but I don't think it fits as well as what the series originally intended. Honestly, think about its relation to real life--don't you ever teach your close friends/younger siblings tips and tricks in video games/writing/life/etc? (I know I do; don't know about you) A lot of people are quick to jump to the conclusion that just because Meta Knight teaches Kirby, he becomes a fatherly figure, but that's not the ONLY thing EVER that can happen, right? I mean, I'm proud of my sister when she makes achievements, or outbeats me on games or plot twists; and from all my interactions on here, I can't just think that every relationship like that has to be parently. I'm also swayed a lot by the games; the anime influences me a nice bit as well, but I've somehow always stuck to the mystery and intrigue of the gameverse...where coincidentally enough with my tastes in Mario, Meta Knight is implied to be Player 2. That doesn't help the 'brotherly relationship' thing either; now that I thought of that just now, it makes me want to read some even more...!
Ironically enough, most of the people who like this thing are the people who don't come to FFN on a regular basis. I should just conform and go with the standard, but hey, I'm free and I'm going my own way.
ALSO: Kirby: Mass Attack and its subgames have influenced me tremendously on Kirby's personality and role (look at Kirby Quest! Look at Strato Patrol EOS! Look at the actual story of the game!). If you see something that you haven't seen in this archive before, it's because of Mass Attack and the lack of people who haven't played it here. And...dang, I'm influenced by practically EVERY game, even the ones I haven't played. But I will give a shoutout to Kirby: Air Ride because if you have not played that game, your life royally sucks. End of story. And also let me know if you've beaten King Dedede's mission, because I will really respect you. (don't you just hate impossible missions?)
I'll experiment possibly with the following things; I'll add more as I dig up ancient story ideas:
The theory presented in Ivyna J. Spyder's 'Stars' (OMN SO AWESOME; it took me a while to get, but without spoiling the thing, it transitions from anime to game without violating either canon at the time of its publication)
The theory I presented in 'Dim Star'...even though the story really sucked; I'm gonna rework it.
The theories about whoever was the demon beast in HnK because seriously, the only three roads you can take are presented in that poll I have up there.
The theories about the possibility that Kirby or Meta Knight grew up on Popstar instead of out in space.
One other involving Waddle Dees; it's a surprise...a really good one! (-snickers-)
NOTE: Most of my info on stories, mainly extra info that would normally go under the A/Ns, is being -slowly- compiled into specific journals on(I go by the same name I do here). How I'm going to organize stuff exactly is unknown at the moment but I think I'll organize it like:
General Journal, advice (wow people HAVE asked me I feel so honored), science/math related info compilation, chaptered fics, oneshots, and...honestly, would I ever need any more?
If I'm feeling ambitious, I might make a little journal on there involving the characters. You know, like having them make an entry in a journal or write something under one category and just keep that journal going. I dunno. You'll see. If I do this, I'd probably have people vote on which entries they'd like me to compile on here.
Name: Engineers address each other by their nicknames if they can! So since I'm one of those rare species on here that's going for a math-related degree...-dramatic pause unnecessarily-...call me Cos. (By the way, it's pronounced 'kahz'. Just like its math-abbreviation counterpart is; seriously, who would ever say 'sin' or 'cos' like they were just the beginnings of 'sine' and 'cosine' anyway? NO. ONE.)
Gender: I'm pretty sure 90% of the people on this website are chicks, so...yeah, not too hard of a guess. But if you need confirmation, whatever.
Age: Teenaged. One year under 18 to be partially exact. (No day-by-day count; sorry.)
School status: College...fresh...no wait. Agh, whatever the term for second semester students is.
Game Series: Kirby, Mario, Starfy, Animal Crossing, Picross, Pokémon, Smash Bros, and...I'm forgetting stuff; just generally anything Nintendo related. If it ain't Nintendo, I ain't played it. Unless it was Littlest Pet Shop. Cos is a sucker for animals with that kind of body design (and I'm talking about the OLD ones. Not whatever crap they have now that bears no resemblance to what it started out as. Hasbro, why did you ruin such a good franchise like that?! You could've at least let it die in dignity...)
Things I Need to Say:
I pretty much always do classic pairings if they work out well; for alternate pairings, I'd be satisfied with anything as LONG AS IT REASONABLY WORKS OUT FOR SOME ACTUAL REASON
As for favorite characters, well, that shouldn't be too hard to guess, should it. (Hint: Player 2 is a practical guarantee for first place. If that wasn't obvious, I'd say Luigi and Meta Knight as a tie. But Kirby and Fumu are pretty close up there; heck, I like quite a few Kirby characters under them. I won't elaborate on anything else; just don't have the time)
(Also a side note: I am a Christian, I needed to say that so I have no obligation to seek out every copy-and-paste in existence, thank you and have a pleasant day!)
I can't think of anything else to say so just go watch the trailer of Hoshi no Kaabii GCN.
EX: Thought I forgot about my advertised ideas? I didn't. This one is always on my mind...I'm just hoping it lives up to the awesomeness I've laid down for it! (I really haven't done any work on it; too busy to...)
Pairing Oneshots: Has anybody ever read 'Angst of a Plumber'? It inspired me to do a similar scenario, except with Adeleine, Meta Knight, and Waddle Dee instead of Peach, Bowser, and Mario. Also, I have a bit of work on my two favorite pairings (the classics, of course, which would be KirbyxRibbon and FumuxMeta Knight), but they're REALLY long...
Amazing Mirror Oneshots, specifically, Shadow Kirby-centric Oneshots: I like to focus really deep whenever I'm dealing with Shadow Kirby, so that pretty much eliminates THAT idea for now.
Fics I Need to Fix (haha, get it? Fics, Fix? ...No?):
Cool and Calm: I think it's pretty clear that I rushed some parts of this, and that really clashed with the parts that WEREN'T rushed. Not to mention that while some parts of it made me smile, some parts made me flinch. I especially need to fix a few parts involving Kirby and Meta Knight...it's not as major as some, but still, I want to make the story enjoyable and it was the first story I had done in practically a year, so my skills wouldn't be up to par when I wrote it...
Revision Level: I don't like the beginning of the revised chapter 1, so I'm gonna have to re-edit it. I've been working on the second chapter, but I haven't even finished revising everything yet and the word count's already reached more than 4200...the whole project is making me cringe...
Trying: I know that death is supposed to be broken and rushed in that scenario, which is what I thought when I wrote that, but I'd rather make it beautiful even if it...did...mean that Kirby had to endure a few more painful seconds for the sake of literature. I'm such a cruel person...
Revision Level: Complete zero. I haven't even laid eyes on it to edit it yet.
Wanting: No. NO. One does not speak of this rushed fail. I could've done so much better and when I revise it, it's going to become multichaptered. Cut me some slack till I can fix it, okay?
Revision Level: Seriously, DON'T read it right now; it will spoil it when you read the revision. It's gonna be a lot of fun turning this into an adventure story and I get the feeling that I'll REALLY enjoy it, so I'm saving it until after finals.
Dim Star: Of all the flinchworthy...No. I might rewrite it. I might just edit the chapters and then call it a fail. I might still rewrite Chapter 5 as a standalone oneshot. But this...no; please don't read it.
Revision Level: I'm really dreading this one and I've been keeping myself from deleting it. I'll probably just rewrite the chapters and call it a day; I'll create a separate plot for the Chapter 5 rewrite.
You Dropped This: I'm not sure about this one. I feel like I kinda rushed to get to the good part, but I'm not 100% sure that it was rushed, or that that was the actual speed of the story. It kinda slowed it down when I paused near the end for detail...
Revision Level: Unknown?
