SYSTEM OVERLOAD. TOO MANY PMs TO RESPOND TO. WARNING.
Due to my ever-increasing work/life/college load, some of my work is...not fit for reading. If you'd like the cream of the crop, jump to the bottom for some recommendations. One of which is a TV Tropes recommendation.
BETA NOTE: I'm still up for beta-reading, if you have a job. I just have two or three on-call beta jobs at the moment, and didn't want to make too many obligations, 'specially if they were out of my current fandom(s). If you see me around an archive and want my help, however, taking you on is no problem. I'd just rather offer my limited time to people who've got a taste of how I write, rather than trying to pick me off of what I think my abilities are.
Random Unorganized Page-Topper Notes:
Note: I've recently realized that, due to my general dislike of socialization, I've had a hard time replying in prompt fashion to the 20-or-so people I PM with. Review replies could also have better timing, and better content. Let me put this bluntly and casually: If I take months to respond, I don't hate you. If you don't get a response to a review, I don't hate you. I'm really gratefully for your support, but I don't socialize well, lengthy messages take time to reply to, and it's hard to reply to review that are like...two words long. If I had the ability to respond to everything, I definitely would. So pretend I did and accept my thanks.
This doesn't mean I'm not PMing/responding to reviews anymore. It just means the frequency with which I do so, and what content I respond to, may be quite quirky.
3DS friend code available after getting to know you. Games I'm available on are Mario Kart 7, Mario Tennis Open, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and Splatoon. I have more as well, but it's impossible to play thirty new games at once. So maybe...you can 'encourage' my decisions on which games to play...
(Obligatory religious note: I am a Christian. I just did not copy-and-paste thousands of words to prove it.)
I do not take requests. I just end up worrying about whether the recipient will like it, and I never end up finishing it. Plus, I no longer have the time. Give me suggestions or critique, but do NOT expect me to do requests. (A general suggestion, like a story about a certain genre/character, will not be considered a request. HOWEVER, don't expect me to do something with your suggestion just because I say this. My time is a valuable asset and I'll only do this for people I feel are open-minded and will actually read the work after I write it.)
Profile Substitute (That Turned Into a Totally-Not-Real and Totally-NOT-Funny Story)
Ummm, well...Hello, I'm Cos. I'm not good at self-description, so let's pretend that Cos is a storybook character instead. If Cos was a storybook character, she'd likely dress mostly casually, with clothes that fit lab requirements (being an engineer/rocket scientist/potential robotic ruler of the world). If magic or extreme technology was applied, she'd probably be decked out in electronics and electronic weaponry. And a cape. Gotta love those capes. Actually, outside the cape, her outfit would probably look really similar to Agent 3's from Splatoon. But anyway.
In this totally-not-real-at-all storybook land that's totally NOT based off Cos at all (I'm not lying; what's with that look?!), Cos would be a somewhat quirky character who's hard for other characters to understand. She'd have several problems with the way she socializes and deals with her emotions, but
Cos (um, storybook Cos) can be quite logic-based, and has a tendency to appeal to logic and moral codes before she takes emotional appeal, if she even takes the latter into account at all. Because of this logic base, she can come off as coldhearted when talking to people when she didn't intend to. This logic also makes her somewhat of an obsessive perfectionist.
...I actually have to laugh.
Li'l Writing-Related Blurb
On the matter of experience...oh wow, I've been on here a while; since 2009, really. (BA, Before Account) You may have heard this tale before, but I was inspired to write when I stumbled upon the great 1Thunderfire's Can A Boo Be Friends With A Human? I still adore her; though I see many people as friends, equals, and figures of respect, rarely do I ever look up to someone like I do to 1Thunderfire! I guess it just shows that even after I play mentor to other people, I still have people I look up to, too...~
Writing-wise, I could talk forever. So just know that I'll write a lot of oneshots (because I'm busy), and the chaptered works I make will hopefully be well-planned before I even mention them, much less publish them. I try writing about a variety of genres/characters/plots/settings/fan theories, but with limited time, I'll probably just be picking my favorites to work on from now on.
I do like character development though...just a weakness of mine...Okay, I REALLY like character development fics; I love it when characters who have problems try to deal with them, even if they fail. I like seeing characters' perspectives on things...
Updates and Projects:
This is the part of my profile that you love and hate at the same time.
Particularly if you were looking for a certain type of project.
So, the way I work is that I found when I withhold projects until they're mostly completed (or at least have everything planned out beforehand), they work out a lot better. But, with my limited time (and limited computer battery OH MY STARS YOU MEAN I ONLY HAVE A FIFTEEN-FRICKIN'-MINUTE BATTERY LIFE WHAT IS THIS B--), updates will be rather slow. It's hard to write when you've had to deal with morons all day, and my mentor said she didn't want to scare me by giving her opinion on my fall course load.
Do realize that, since I've always had times where I've been busy, some of my stories are, em...lower in quality than the rest; eheh. So uh...if you read a story, and it's...not that great, just ignore it. I'm trying not to delete it for the people who liked it (for some reason).
I'll fix this when I have time. I'm still trying to decide what I'm going to do with a lot of my work, as most of my story ideas I was going to do were back from 2013/14, and I've lost interest in a lot of them due to having no plots for them. There's like...nowhere to go with them. So I'm turning over a new page. Anything I promised before this profile update (June 2016) likely won't be continued, and I'm re-evaluating the fics I have up already that aren't completed.
(Kirby) Family Reunion Current Status: Highly In-Progress; ~92,000 words in current story draft; ~11,000 words in cut material document; up to Chapter 3 Part 4 in finalized parts.
Notes: First Kirby fic with DECENT OCs I've written, and a major reference source for how the Dees live in my Kirbyverses. It is also a deconstruction, picks at canon/fanon stuff that's unaddressed, and will probably win the award for most absurd fan theory relating to...well, I can't reveal it, or it'll spoil it...!
OC preview (remove the spaces): thecosmicpenguin . deviantart . com/art/Colder-than-Steel568751967ga_submit_new=10253A1446338932&ga_ type=edit&ga_changes=1 (This is the mystery Dee/Kajinara. Stop laughing at my drawing abilities. I know they suck.)
Fics in Repair:
Ugh, I hate editing already-published material...
Cool and Calm: I am still unsatisfied with Kirby's anger in the beginning. It serves no plot point at all, but I'm too lazy/busy to edit it, which means stuff might just get chopped. Everything else though, I'm pretty happy with. Hopefully this'll be revised soon...and FINISHED; I swear, I've been working on this forever and I'm still not happy! I'm NEVER trying to revise an old story again! (Watch me do it again, and again, and again...)
Fics I'd Recommend you to Read:
If you're here from the top of the page, here you are:
...well...only for Kirby. Most other stuff is pretty old, except for Because. I'd like to write another Stafy fic that's good, but I can't think of what I'd write about it. -.-
Oneshots: Ice Sculpture (ReaditreadititgottheTVTropesrec), A Matter of Respect, Persistence (people like it, apparently; I'm undecided), Helping a Stranger, Kirby of the Stars, Unnamed (MORE SHADOW KIRBY LOVE, FOR STARS' SAKE), Drifting.
...wow that makes me realize that I've been a lazy slouch. Most of that work is ANCIENT. ...well, more than a year old.
If you see a fic and it's not on that list, seriously, don't read it. It's probably rushed and because of that, there's some flaw with it. Or I was just toying around with it. ...or I'm not finished with its updating, or it's on hiatus.
...Oh my stars. If you actually READ all that, you must...well, I read profiles all the way through too, but you must be devoted. Then again, it was really just three parts and the recs, so maybe I'm exaggerating.
Anyway, hope to see you around! Agent--erm, Cos, signing off!
