![]() Author has written 7 stories for Silent Hill, Naruto, Durarara!!/デュラララ!!, Hellsing, and Slender. I'm a very sentimental person. Not because I only like material things. I think it's mostly because of the fact that I have poor memory. If I were to receive a bouquet of live roses. I would be sad more than happy. Because I know, roses will wilt and die, and then I would have to throw them away. As beautiful as they are, that beauty fades. Same goes for everything. That's why people take photographs of themselves, and then they get labelled as 'narcissist'. Perhaps they're just sentimental like me. If I were to be told that someone was going to give me roses. I would ask them for beautiful fake roses, maybe of all kinds of impossible colors, gradienting from one to the other. Maybe even a rainbow bouquet. Why? Because I believe in impossible things. I like to see rare beauty that has to be fabricated by meticulous, talented hands. It's more artistic that way. And fake roses don't die. Sure, they may be cheaper than real roses that the earth hath bore and tired farmers have had to carefully, painstakingly raise. But wouldn't it be better to have real roses growing forever in a garden, and fake roses to decorate your home? You wouldn't have to force a poor farmer to grow them only to chop them off and ship them to some retailer. It would be nicer to have the same farmers raise roses in pots or nurseries where they could be transplanted into someone's yard or miniature garden to be cared for instead of being put on the countdown clock known as a vase, to die. Fake roses don't die, and you can make them any color you want, without having to worry about abusing live flowers by forcing them to drink up chemical dyes to make them something they are not meant to be. If they are white roses, all the more tragic. White means pure love, and yet you want to make them purple, blue, pink, yellow, even rainbow colors. Fake flowers however get to be what they were meant to be--what they are crafted to be. In a sense, it's more natural that way. I am a sentimental person. It's because I have a bad memory. If someone gave me a bouquet of fake, colorful roses. I would be very happy. I can put them in a vase forever, and maybe a few years down the road, look at them and smile. I can remember the day they were given to me--who gave them to me, what I was like personality-wise at the time, how young I looked, how stupid I used to be. And I can muse, because I can remember. Even as a forgetful person, I can remember. I like things that last. It doesn't mean I like fake things in particular. Like those fake roses, it's not the fact that they are fake that makes me happy--it's the fact that they don't change. If taken care of properly, put in a place where the sunlight won't bleach the color too much, in a tempered room where they can remain dust-free and wont be eaten away by insects or decay from bad air, they can last for years and years to come, maybe even forever. And maybe one day they can be given to one of my grandchildren when I am no longer here. When that happens, I can leave them the true meaning of why I like fake roses. Just like those fake roses; morals ideals, and dreams, if kept safely and cared for, checked up on and maintained, they can last for years to come. Maybe even forever. And then, passed on. So if you're going to give me a bouquet of roses--or whatever flower for that matter. I'd prefer if they were fake. Not because I like fake things--I'm just a sentimental person.
