Author has written 12 stories for Breath of Fire, Fahrenheit 451, Artemis Fowl, Paper Towns, Final Fantasy I-VI, and Harry Potter.
Been a while since I updated this.
I'm a bio major at a university in the midwest with an unhealthy amount of free time. I've been a closeted writer since the beginning of high school. I've never written anything original since I don't think I have the creative capacity to start from point zero. Who knows though, maybe when I fail o-chem and switch to an English major I'll get a second wind.
I try to write like F Scott Fitzgerald, but I think I usually end up sounding more like Tolkien and being about as readable as James Joyce in Finnegan's Wake. Oh well, my writing career is summed up by the title of a book by Crystal Woods, "Write like no one is reading."
I think the two most beautiful passages in literature (admittedly within the somewhat limited scope of my reading) are the last page of The Great Gatsby and the first paragraph of the second chapter of The Sound and the Fury.
I hate the first person and despise the present tense (the Hunger Games was really tough to get through). I'm not really excellent at adhering to the rules of grammar, I just try to write what sounds nice to me. I also have a weird fixation with aesthetics in writing, which is really a bummer because fanfiction doesn't let you do much embellishment outside the classic i,b,u and text alignment. I've played around with a lot of different titles and transitions.
I'm also a huge San Francisco Giants fan, fence (poorly), can ride a unicycle, and did policy debate in high school.
Right now I'm...
Reading: Shogun by James Clavel, I'm going to Japan in a few weeks so I thought it would be appropriate
Watching: House of Cards, the show is nuts
Listening: I've moved on from a Pink Floyd phase into Led Zeppelin, in other news AC/DC is now on Spotify
Playing: Haven't played anything in a while, last game I guess was Pokemon Black
What's going on
7/11/15 – I lost all my previous entries when I deleted my old profile (oops) so now I guess I'll start from scratch. I've spent like two years getting up the courage to start something really big and I think I'm finally going to do it. Planning a novelization of Breath of Fire II. Should take up a good chunk of time but hopefully I'll be able to do some small stuff in between updates as well. Things are looking up right now.
Things I believe (in order of descending conviction)
99.99% – Absolute certainty is impossible
"No one sings me lullabies
"Reading means stripping yourself of every purpose, every foregone conclusion, to be ready to catch a voice that makes itself heard when you least expect it, a voice that comes from an unknown source, from somewhere beyond the story."
