![]() Author has written 1 story for Avengers. Roughly six months ago I discovered this site ... I don't even remember how. I got hooked on some Justice League fanfictions and kept reading and reading and reading. Working my way through the Harry Potter stuff now, still look in on JL stuff every now and then. I have to say much love to the people who write these great stories. There is an enormous pool of undiscovered literary talent out there, and this site showcases it to an excellent degree. Yes, there's a lot of crap out there too, but ultimately that's for the people to decide, this is art, and opinions count. As for me, I'm a 38 year old, married executive (saying I'm an exec is like saying an Ensign is an officer... technically its true, but it doesn't really mean much) in a electronics retail & web company. I have no children and four cats... Yes, I said 4, 2 are hers and 2 are ours. And before anyone complains the ratio of Cats to Humans to qualify for 'Crazy Cat Folk' is 3 to 1, we are still under that number. Barely. And to be fair, my largest cat channels 'Dog' most of the time. 1st Update. Wow, I came here to look at this, and realized just how long it's been since I first created my profile. Seeing as how I'm more active now in reviewing and PM'ing, and seeing as how I may actually get off my butt and POST a story someday soon, I thought I would add a few details here to my profile, for the curious soul who wants to know, or the angry author coming to complain about having to wade through my 7000 word review. Ok - I have crossed the threshold of the big Four Oh, and am also no longer employed as an executive, I went through several 'phases' last year, direct middle-management leadership, corporate trainer and even backend programmer. Being a renaissance-man who can fill a lot of holes is extremely tiring and not very rewarding, but as I go back and read that description of myself, all I can think of is it makes me sound like some sort tentacle monster... ewww... Next, still married, and she puts up with my fanfiction obsession because she'd much rather have a husband who reads fanfictions and plays video games than one that drinks too much and goes to strip clubs. Of course she'd much rather a husband who exercised with her and spent most of his time outdoors, oh and that spoke Spanish a lot, she really likes me in 'Spanish-speaking'-mode (I'm born American, but of Cuban-descent, ESL but you'd never know it to hear me speak.) On the pet front, we've had some changes. Unfortunately I am down to just 2 cats, one passed away (hers) one ran away (ours), but in the process we've inherited (from her mother who passed away this year) a 60lb Black Lab/Great Pyrenees-mix who sadly lost her eye to an untreated cataract a few years ago; although I love telling people about my Pirate-dog. We are still in the same townhouse so space is a premium, but she's such a good sport, she hardly ever complains :) (the dog, I mean... my wife hardly complains either, usually its because I'm not outside or speaking spanish... or speaking spanish outside for that matter). Still reading Harry Potter and Justice League Fanfics, though I've got a smattering of Naruto, Warhammer, and Buffyverse FFs floating in my favorites. Got a plot bunny I've been working on for a while now, I'm not sure if I'll post it yet... Ah what the heck... It's worth a laugh... not beta'd though... check my 'stories' if you're curious. Oh and a note on my Profile Pic, yes that's a My Little Pony... ordinarily I have nothing to do with that show, but I found this somewhere online and I couldn't help myself. It's a MLP piloting a BattleMech... I'm scared as to the insights this provides to my personality, but whatever... Update the 2nd (March 28 2016) Big changes: Am now 42, so it looks like I'm keeping to regular 2-year updates ;) Now working directly in IT. Full-time job, but working an IT-related part-time job and trying to finish school, yes it's busy. Still 2 cats, one dog. Though sadly the Pirate-puppy developed glaucoma in the other eye, and due to a different problem she already had, it went undetected or at least untreated until it was too late. The Pirate Puppy still has her other eye, but its tunnel-vision for her. Tunnel vision apparently sucks because her other senses have NOT picked up the slack since she can still see something. So she's Canine equivalent to a Roomba, she goes until she hits something then does a course correction... oh and she still eats everything edible (and some not) she comes across. Big important thing - now living in a HOUSE... moved up to South Carolina to help take care of my Daddy-in-law after my wife's mom passed away (as mentioned above when we inherited said pirate-puppy). It's a lot of land so pirate-puppy can go very far before she runs into anything when she's outside. Have considered changing my profile pic, and I probably will at some point soon as MLP is NOT one of the many fandoms I routinely follow, I'm not a Brony or some other such thing. I only picked that one because I AM a B-Tech fan, and I thought it was amusing. Now I'm 50, so much for regular 2 year updates. My poor puppy is no more, she lived a great life, and she is mourned. Also back down to 3 cats. One of the kittens that was added back in the day is now the Elder Floof, and we've added two more to fill in. Still reading predominantly HP but I also tend to read Worm and Warhammer 40k now (love me some grimdark redemption arcs!) Still an exec, though more of an account manager than IT (though I still do that, my company likes making me wear many, many hats.) Still in SC. Daddy-in-law passed, we got the house though there was a court-case to own it free and clear (resolved, we won). In addition to HP, Worm, WH40k, I am into Warcraft FF (don't play the game anymore, too much of a time investment) and BTech. Still a Dracophile (and also a G-Fan). I think I changed my profile pic to something I found that shows the old D&D cartoon characters all grown up, which I feel is a metaphor of sorts). Will probably update again soon... maybe clean this up. |
