Author has written 60 stories for Hobbit. I'm English and I live in a beautiful medieval city with a great husband. Three adult children are scattered around the country. I've been a Tolkien fan all my life and an admirer of Richard Armitage for some years. When my favourite actor finally got the part of Thorin in a favourite book, this gave me the impetus - at last - to sit down and write. I've discovered that it's great fun! I wrote the initial stories of All About Thorin before the first Hobbit film came out and so some of the details are based on the book rather than the film but, my latest stories in this first series, especially characters like my arrogant Thranduil, have been influenced by the film. At this point, I've put up more than 60 stories - the equivalent of three short novels - and appear to have come to the end of this particular series. But, don't be afraid, LOL! Although there is an over-arcing story-line and I think it's best to read the stories in order, each chapter is a complete story in itself. And so, you can read one, go away and then come back again later without worrying that you have forgotten what has gone on before. Thorin's story carries on just as real life carries on and we slowly find out about his forge in Ered Luin, his friends, his wife, his children, his enemies and his rather difficult relationship with the elves. I think they get funnier as they roll along but that doesn't mean that they don't have a serious note or that you can't relate to them: they deal with marriage, death, childbirth, sexual problems, children, adoption, racism, friendship, jobs, foreign travel, pets, jealousy, sexism, painting and decorating - well, just about everything, really! And each story revolves around our favourite dwarf, Thorin: sexy, growling, stubborn, bad-tempered but totally adorable. Then I was challenged by a cyberfriend to write a slash story. I wondered if I could and then decided that it would have to be a romance, as with All About Thorin. The only difference was that it would be M/M and it would have a bit more smut. The most powerful emotions in the films of The Hobbit so far, IMO, are those between Thranduil and Thorin. It was obvious to me that I should tackle a Thorinduil story. When I started King of the Antlered Throne, DoS was due to make an appearance and I had to evolve some ideas based on the book and on trailers to the film, just as I did with All About Thorin. It was meant to be a one-off, but I enjoyed writing it so much and became involved with so many of the characters that I kept going. At this point, I haven't posted them all yet, but there will probably be 12 Thorinduil stories, finishing, of course, with a wedding! After seeing the films, I have discovered that RA's Thorin is just as good as I thought he would be. I do hope that you recognise the film Thorin in my stories even though I wrote some of them before the films came out. |
