Author has written 5 stories for Naruto, X-Men, Avatar: Last Airbender, Elder Scroll series, and Avengers. Please don't ask/tell me to update, it really doesn't help me publish anything faster. Also, unless it's marked 'abandoned' it's not abandoned. againstthecurrentfanfiction DOT blogspot DOT co DOT uk is the address of my writing blog where snippets, extras, research and commentary will occasionally be posted. NEWS (27th of December, 2018): I've been battling a long term illness and have only recently started feeling like myself. I have more energy and inspiration now but I'm nowhere near 100 percent, please be patient, none of my stories are abandoned. Current Update Status: Memories of Rain - Hiatus pending rewrite. Two Steps Back - Chapter 6 has far to go... but 7 is almost finished. *siiiigh* Kaze no Uta - Chapter 4 has just been posted, 5 hopefully not too far away. The Grey - Reached 50,000 words for NaNoWriMo 2015 and got... two chapters out since then. Opps. Chapter 6 needs 3000 extra words minimum but 7 is complete and 8 just needs some dialogue and description added. The Drawing Board - First chapter of my Walking Dead story, Primal, is now up. Will clean it and all subsequent chapters (four and a half in total so far) and post them as their own story, eventually. They need a lot of work. I have no set fic schedule or order, it just depends what I'm inspired to work on. A Little Bit About Me: This is my second account on this site and was created solely for my SI and OC stories. They are a guilty pleasure of mine and have been excellent tools in improving my character creation. No, I will not tell you my original username. I would like to get some feedback without being linked to my previous stories, not because I am ashamed of either category but because I tend to write stories for this account when I am blocked with my canon character centric plots. I don't want to be harried on either account because other stories are more popular. Fanfiction is escapism, therapy and fun, thank you very much. Flames about my stories on the grounds of 'but this is a OC/SI character!' will be deleted. If, on the other hand, you want to offer constructive criticism then I am all ears. I am: - Female - In My 20s - A Native British Speaker - A Bit of a Perfectionist - A Feminist - Interested in Social Issues - Confused and Overly Analytical About my Sexuality and Pretty Much Everything Else Friendly Warning: I do not react well to the term 'Mary-Sue'. I believe it is now used to describe almost any female character, both canon and non. Considering that there are many, many Marty and Gary Stus running around in fanfic and popular culture, who never receive the same degree of scrutiny or grief as their female counter-parts, I see it as a sexist device to limit female influence. This is all the more worrying that some of the greatest women haters claim to be women themselves. If this topic is broached, I will often argue along the lines of: 'If character A was a boy...' Just a heads up: I will argue this issue, particuarly over my own OCs whom I have taken a lot of time to make as human as possible while still functioning in worlds where the impossible is reality. Provided you state your case in a reasonable manner I will respond in kind. Flamers and trolls can go back to 4chan. To my Readers: If I've made a spelling/grammar mistake, please point it out! Ditto for social/cultural/religious/general facts! I do my research but nobody's perfect. If you have personal experience in something or know an area of study particuarly well that I've got wrong then please point it out. I can't promise I'll edit right away, I tend to change the master copy and sit on it until I have several chapters to edit. For instance, I'm considering a major grammar and possibly past to present tense edit of Memories of Rain so reader edits would be incorporated then. Flamers can take a hike (see above), con-crit and honest compliments make my day, one word reviews like 'update' are depressing. I tend to react negatively to actively rude reviewers. I've also developed a distinct dislike for passive aggressive ones. Stuff like 'oh I love this story, it's such a shame you stopped writing' and 'why did you abandon this story?' don't make me write faster. Quite the opposite, my muse digs her damn heels in. I WILL NEVER HOLD A CHAPTER HOSTAGE OR DEMAND MORE REVIEWS. I will only hold chapters back to edit them. Please stop acting like I'm sitting on a hoard of unpublished chapters, I wish that was the case. Stories in the Works: Breathe (Young Justice) Which I've been working on for years with little solid progress, since I've started no less than three AUs spinning off the original premise. Oy vey. Do Not Disturb (Final Fantasy VII, a small snippet posted in The Drawing Board) This story is probably going to hunt me relentlessly once the remake comes out. Let Me Count The Ways (Marvel Cinematic Universe, minor crossovers with two mystery fandoms) this was going to be my 2015 NaNoWriMo project but I changed my mind last minute. Basically dimension-crossing lesbians who navagate the superhero sphere and fight crime together. Inspired by Kate Leyh's Supercakes comic. Primal (The Walking Dead, prologue posted as chapter 5 of The Drawing Board) Titanium (Marvel Cinematic Universe/X-Men comic/animated universes) My answer to the bullshit that is the Marvel universe having a plethera of superpowered supergenius men and not one woman who isn't depowered/raped/killed off. Stalled because oh god the research I have to do for this. Would anyone be interested in betaing a story heavy on real life/comic book chemistry? The best way to catch these stories is to either alert me or subscribe to my archive, Entrapment and Escapism, as they will all be uploaded there. |
