This Is Me
Yo, people, it's Specialist Terra here, member of the S.T.O.R.M Strike Squad and - wait, what do you mean, this isn't Monsuno? Well, damn. Crush all my hopes and dreams in a single sentence, why don't you. Huh. I suppose I'd better start again, then. I'm TerraChasma, but I go by many other names to various people, including Terra, Jess, Jay, Jaybear, Professor Angst and Kiddo. Eh, just call me Jaybear or Terra. I'm 14, I live in the UK, although one day I'm moving to Canada with my best friend Kaishei so we can dress up in dinosaur onesies and eat the cyclists in Stanley Park. Which may not the be the greatest plan in the world since I'm vegan. I'm currently labelling myself as homo-Marko-Saaresto-sexual panromantic (because...damn, go look Marko Saaresto up right now, he's the lead singer of Poets of the Fall and the only guy I've ever been sexually attracted to), although that may or may not be subject to change in the future. I love being outdoors, especially where animals are involved, and my dream job is to be an adventure naturalist, combining vital conservation awareness work with extreme sports and beautiful wild creatures. I love most sports, although my favourites are mountain biking, scuba diving and archery. Other hobbies include photography, climbing, surfing, walking, exploring, reading, drawing, singing and acting.
Listen up. This is important. My inbox is always open, for anyone who needs to talk. I may be clingy, emotional, ever-so-slightly insane, prone to going off on the weirdest tangents at times and overly friendly to complete strangers, but I'm loyal. If you need me to listen, I'll listen. If you need someone to help you make sense of things, I can attempt that, too. If you just need a friend, I'll be your friend. I'm here for anyone who needs me, whether I know you or not, whether we've fallen out in the past, whatever our history, I'll do anything I can to help you. And that's a promise.
I have no real-life friendships and I honestly don't care. For me, friends are people you can connect with and give all of yourself to, whether that's online or face-to-face; I'm lucky enough to have met some incredible people through the internet, and I love them with all my heart and more. Especially my two friends, who are known on here as Theanimekitty89 and GlowBlade998...and then Spheal, who has no account on here but is known on Tumblr as majestic-spheal, deserves a special mention too. However, I'm blessed to know each and every one of the friends I've made online. Words can't really express just how much they mean to me, so I'm not going to try. Just know that they're amazing, beautiful and very, very special, all of them. Then there's Kaishei, my best friend...I wouldn't be able to do her justice in a few sentences; she's incredible, beautiful, perfect...a part of me, of my heart. I couldn't live without her.
So, this is me, I guess. Now that's over, I can get on to the more interesting stuff.
Stuff I Love
TV Shows/Movies: Primeval is quite possibly the greatest sci-fi show of all time, equalled only by the Canadian spin-off Primeval: New World. Don't dispute me on this, or I will go into fangirl-rage-mode and trust me when I tell you we don't want that happening. Monsuno is just absolute freaking perfection and makes me cry a lot, despite it being a kid's anime series, and I just have a lot of feels for that show. Dance Academy and Victorious are also amazing, and Prehistoric Park is one of the best things ever made. Also Little Das' Hunt okay. That thing gave me feels like you would not believe despite being a documentary about dinosaurs. Same goes for Two Brothers, a film about tigers, which is so impossibly sad and has one of the most beautiful endings I've ever seen on anything ever.
Books: I love to read. My aspirations, my fantasies, my daydreams and nightmares, summed up within the works of a few talented individuals; all of the authors I'm about to list are incredible people, whose novels are definitely worth reading at some point. Stephen King is an impossibly famous horror writer, and deservedly so - if you haven't read anything of his before and you don't mind gore or violence, I would recommend 'Carrie' 'Thinner', 'Rage', 'Doctor Sleep' and 'The Long Walk'. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is most famous for the 'Sherlock Holmes' series, but he also penned my favourite book of all time, 'The Lost World' a raw, furious science fiction novel which brought to life the burning embers of my interest in prehistory. Stephen Wallenfel is a relatively new author, and his debut sci-fi novel 'POD' is something very special, as is Steve Cole's 'Z-REX' trilogy. Julie Ann Peters writes beautiful LBGT fiction for young adults, and I would especially recommend 'Keeping You a Secret' - if you like adventure with a hard-hitting environmental message then read 'The Falcon Chronicles' by Steve Backshall, my favourite contemporary series. Kevin Brooks writes deliciously dark YA novels, the best of these being, in my opinion, 'Killing God', a haunting, stirring tale with a hint of LBGT and an unnervingly relatable main character. Sarah Singleton's 'The Amethyst Children' is another book with a moving environmental message, but is in itself a dark, gripping story, whilst SF Said's 'Varjak Paw' series and Louis Sachar's 'Holes' are some of the best works of fiction I've ever read.
Music: Music is my everything, the air in my lungs, the beat of my heart; it's the fallen angel that sleeps on my shoulder and yearns just to keep me alive. My favourite band, though, has to be Poets of the Fall, a Finnish alt-rock band who define my very soul - their music is incomparable, pure poetry, the words to describe it simply don't exist. Then there are others, the beautiful Phoenix Effect, the shattered humanity of Breaking Benjamin, the raw fury of Disturbed, restless, angry Three Days Grace, rebellious Flogging Molly, the intrinsic mosaic of music created by Red...and that's only the tip of the iceberg, my utmost favourites; I could go on forever, but I'll leave it at that.
A brief warning: I'm not nicknamed Professor Angst for no reason. Most of the stories I write will deal with some pretty mature themes, containing possible triggers, and I'd hate to upset anyone with my work. That's just the way I naturally prefer to write, including scenes which have a lot of emotion gravity, and I use it as a coping strategy for the darkness in my own life. If you're upset by death, suicide, torture, murder, self-harm, mental illness, violence or gore, you might want to steer clear, or send me a message if you're unsure about something I've written. On the other hand, if you're okay with that...well, it would be amazing if you read and commented on some of my work, to give advice, point out mistakes, or just tell me if you liked it or not, although reviews are by no means obligatory. It's just nice to know that people enjoy my stories, since I devote a lot of time to them.
Okay, so I know I haven't been updating very often, and I'm really, really sorry about that. Right now, my focus will be on my two ongoing WIPs - Deviant for Monsuno, and Anthem of the Angels for Primeval: New World. However, there's a definite possibility that I'll start work on a collection of Poets of the Fall songfics for Primeval: New World to help me through future writer's block at some point, called Fatal Velocity - keep an eye out for it! I do have several other ideas for fics across a wide range of fandoms, but for now I want to get those out of the way. Once one of those projects is finished, I'll update this with a full list of my future writing projects and ideas.
If you want to track me down on Tumblr, feel free, but it may take some time...I own four different blogs, and I'm creating a fifth soon, so good luck finding me, but in any case these are my URLs and a brief description of each one.
'theultimatefling' - This is my main blog, for posting anything and everything, really.
'queen-of-darkspin' - This is an RP blog for Medea from Monsuno, which I abandoned for a little while but I'm back on it now, with a little more regularity.
'hey-look-its-jaybear' - This is an RP blog for Jeredy from Monsuno, and the reason behind my brief abandonment of Medea and my sudden, startling lack of life outside of Tumblr.
'evancrossofficial' - This is an RP blog for Evan from Primeval: New World, currently in progress and not really being used yet. Soon I'll be creating an RP blog for Leggy from Primeval: New World as well; I'll post it here when I get around to making it.
Beautiful Quotes and Lyrics
'Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire, I hold with those who favour fire, but if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate to say that for destruction ice is also great, and would suffice' - Robert Frost, Fire and Ice.
'Until the stars have blinked their last, wherever on this Earth you walk you will arouse, excite, inspire; my Valentine, my one dark fire,' - Chris D'Lacey, The Last Dragon Chronicles.
'Whatever tomorrow wants from me, what does it matter what I see? If I can't choose my own design, tell me, where do we draw the line? Where's the cooling wind? Where's the evergreen field? Where's my mother's open arms? Where's my father lionheart? It's like the sun's gone down, sleeps in the hallowed ground now; in the autumn's brown leaves, with the one who never grieves' - Poets of the Fall, Where Do We Draw the Line.
'Compassion is the answer; be a part of the solution' - Poets of the Fall, Can You Hear Me music video.
'It's hopeless, the end will come and wash it all away. Forsaken, I live for those I lost along the way, and I can't remember how it all began to play; I suffer, I live to fight and die another day. Fast I fade away, it's almost over, hold on! Slow I suffocate, I'm cold and broken, alone!' - Breaking Benjamin, Fade Away.
