Author has written 5 stories for Harry Potter.
New to Fanfiction. I love writing, but haven't done any creative writing since school. Whilst the Y2K still seems like yesterday, it was actually a disturbingly long time ago, so I thought I would give this a try, it seemed like fun.
As you can possibly tell from the topics of my stories, I'm rather a fan of Harry Potter. I was almost exactly the target age when they first came out, and enjoyed following them for ten years. And yes, I did go a midnight shop opening for the seventh book, and got to pet a scops owl, which I was more thrilled by than I had any business being given I was in my twenties at the time. I'm a Slytherin on Pottermore (hence the chosen pen-name), but am really not into the "gaming" aspect of it - I just like looking at the pictures and reading the additional information.
Favourite Harry Potter characters are Neville Longbottom and Nymphadora Tonks because they're both so lovely. Though I've also always been fascinated by the three Black sisters. All my stories so far feature Andromeda; somehow, despite her fleeting appearance in the books, she has really managed to get under my skin. As for Bellatrix, sometimes my stories might come off as a little Bellatrix-sympathetic. So I should state that I abhor her actions and think there is no excuse for what she became. However, I always saw her as someone very damaged, and with a very complex backstory. Someone who, rather than being soul-less and evil like Voldemort, actually had the potential for great things and great love, but a combination of factors (great intelligence, an intense personality, frustration, a conflicting desire for excitement with a desire to please her family, pain and loss, being raised in the wrong environment, being born in the wrong time period) conspired to allow her to make entirely the wrong choices and create the perfect storm that led her down the path of evil and turned her into the monster she became. I think Andromeda and Bellatrix were probably very close and very similar individuals in their youth, either could have gone either way, but Andromeda was a little wiser, and a little stronger, and made the right choices at the right time.
I'm a bit of a stickler for canon, so try to keep my stories as true to the books as possible. I think all my stories so far are pretty much canon-compliant with the seven books; I probably take a few liberties here and there, but these should be minor. I cannot guarantee that stories are canon-compliant with interviews given by JK Rowling, or with the three spin-off books, and although I try my best to stick to information given from those sources, I'm not going to lose sleep if I get anything wrong. My stories are not, however, necessarily canon-compliant with Pottermore. I read the books as they were published, so have for years formed my own backstories and fleshed out the characters in my mind according to what makes sense to me just from reading the books. Fanfiction written or planned or imagined before any additional information on Pottermore was published is not going to be subsequently adjusted!
The Photograph Album, An Education in Muggle Culture, and Stars Watching the Low Road, are all connected and reference each other and can be assumed to exist within the same Fic-verse (I believe it's called). Amortentia also exists in this Fic-verse, but can be read as an entirely stand alone piece.
The Long Forgotten Prank was something I wrote as a bit of fun, and whilst it references little things in the other stories, it stands alone in that, when you are reading the other stories, you can assume that the events of The Long Forgotten Prank did not happen. I hope I'm making sense!
