Author has written 11 stories for Thor, Avengers, and Star Wars.
“A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading.” ― William Styron
Star Wars. Lord of the Rings. The Count of Monte Cristo. Dracula. All of these come to mind when I read William Styron’s quote.
Because it’s true. Great literature should take you places you can’t go in reality. It should let you live alongside the characters in the book, seeing the world through their eyes – and if it’s REALLY good, you should be thoroughly exhausted by the end and begging for more.
Fan Fiction is no different. It’s just that the stories are usually a lot shorter. I mean, come on. Nobody on this website expects their fellow writers to create stories on quite the same level as J.R.R. Tolkien or George Lucas. (Well, maybe we do, but let’s keep our expectations realistic, shall we?)
My tastes in fan fiction stories kind of varies. Introspective stories about individual characters are great if they’re done right. Alternate Universe stories are ok, but honestly not my cup of tea; I prefer spin-offs more than AUs, only because the AUs can get . . . weird. But in general I enjoy epic stories, ones that take multiple chapters to finish. The mark of a good story, in my opinion, is that when you get to the end you wish the author would just keep writing!
I never really plan out where my stories are going to go; I always have a general idea of what I want to happen, but I never pre-plan the details. I prefer to let my imagination carry me through the whole journey. It’s fun to share in the surprise along with the reader!
Here’s a brief favorites list for you:
Books: Lord of the Rings, Star Wars (anything written by Timothy Zahn is fantastic!), Dracula (when I want Vampires, I’m going to read about REAL Vampires. Not those vegetarian sparkly-fairies we saw in the theatres . . .), The Count of Monte Cristo, The Chronicles of Narnia (all of them!), The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes . . .
Movies: Star Wars (that just seems to keep popping up, doesn’t it?), Lord of the Rings (of course), Batman Begins (the second one was just a little too dark for me, and I haven’t seen the third one yet), Princess Bride, Thor (mainly for Tom Hiddleston’s acting. He made Loki my favorite villain!!), Avengers (saw it 7 times in the theatres . . . in 2 months!), Harry Potter (all of them), Van Helsing, Underworld . . .
TV Shows: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Danny Phantom (yeah, a few cartoons never hurt anyone), Bonanza, MASH, Sherlock, Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood (I blame this one on my brother and sister and best friend. Actually most of these were my best friend’s fault! Ha ha!)
Favorite Actors/Actresses: Tom Hiddleston (he was fantastic in War Horse, but in my mind he will never be anything but Loki. He was AMAZING in Thor and Avengers), Alan Rickman (both in Harry Potter and in Sense and Sensibility. LOVE his deep voice!), Chris Evans (best Captain America ever!), Ben Kingsley, Robert Downey Jr. (the Iron Man movies were hysterical!), Harrison Ford . . . you notice that there are no actresses listed. I really don’t have any favorites, that’s why. Ha ha!
A word of warning: most of my fan fiction stories are currently about Thor/Avengers (specifically dealing with the two brothers and their relationship). I am a huge fan of Angst/Hurt/Comfort, and all of my stories have a bit of each worked into it. So if you're not into either of those, don't hate. Only dislike a story for it's lack of plot and terrible writing . . . not because you don't like the subject matter. But if you ARE into those genres, please feel free to comment on them, and let me know if you have any ideas you would like to see in print. I’m totally open for suggestions!
I am currently collaborating with my fellow author Chimaera Chameleon on a series of short stories, particularly pertaining to the Thor and Avengers films. This is our own unique take on the comics, the movies, and Norse Mythology, so some things may not be strictly canon. Keep watching for updates on our combined works, and check out Chimaera Chameleon's profile if you want to get a preview of their writing style!
The newest stories I have posted:
Promises: a One-Shot about Loki and Sigyn's marriage. (I'm most proud of this one!)
Red Ledgers: a One Shot about Loki's conversation with the Black Widow...
Mota Munnin: a One Shot featuring some very menacing minor characters . . .
Measure of a Man: an AU Avengers story where Loki makes a very different choice at the Battle of New York . . . and the consequences in the aftermath. (By far the most popular of my stories)
And I am SO excited about the epic conclusion to the Surtur Trilogy: ASGARD'S TWILIGHT!
Be forewarned: this sucker is going to be HUGE, so please please PLEASE be patient with the updates. The Prologue and first four chapters alone are longer than all of A Flame Forever Burning! I am collaborating with Chimaera Chameleon in writing this, and so far we have the Prologue up through chapter 17 done and ready . . . with more chapters and more content being added daily.
So strap in folks - it's going to be one heck of a ride!!
