Not to be confused with a character hiding his heritage, but rather someone completely oblivious to it turning out to be the king of the world or something along those lines. Getting help from god-like being. Depends on how it's done. I would like for there to be a price and not really a superficial one. And there are plenty of stories of 'Oh, he/she had suffered alot, she deserves my help/a second chance, yada yada yada. No matter how much our protagonist seems to suffer/need help, there would always be someone in a WORSE condition than him/her and not actually get the help. Magic without rules. I know some would say that if it had rules/limitations, it wouldn't be magic, but for one to actually study magic, it means that it does have rules. Also it actually forces the characters to find new ways to use their magic instead of just blindly conjuring everything they might need without a second though. It is both unrealistic (as far as we can talk about realism where magic is concerned) as well as utterly boring to watch/read. |
