![]() Author has written 6 stories for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Misc. Books, and Mythology. Hi guys, I am TheDisturbedGuy! I am an author here, and I love to write! I love the Percy Jackson series, and I am Percabeth all the way! I can already tell you this, you won't find me writing any Percy-NonAnnabeth stories, so don't expect that! I love to play video games, I love to write, and I love to read! I don't know if anyone finds this strange, but I actually don't like to read my own work, I just can't do it. But I am rambling, so here is my profile, my list of favorite authors, and my favorite stories. I wish all of you a happy year! And As Always, Have A Nice Day! Why 2017 Has Been One of the Worst Years of My Life: On April 7th, I went to work, and when I had finished my shift, I started to get an earache. By the time I got home, it was noticeable, but bearable; not one hour passes, and my ear feels like it is on the verge of exploding. I go to the ER, where I ended up waiting forty-five minutes, almost in tears, and I finally get in to be seen. A doctor tells me I have a bad ear infection, and that I shouldn't be surprised if it ruptures; he gives me anti-biotics and sends me home. April 9th; I have no real recollection of this day besides me eating a bagel, and then, I assume several hours later, me vomiting all over myself. I can remember being in a fetal position, throwing up into my hands, where I can't seem to stop; Apparently, I passed out. My mom tells me I was incoherent, and I was doing was mumbling, incapable of responding to any prompts, and just throwing up. My mom calls 911, and when the paramedics get there, they think I'm drunk! But, when they can find no sense of alcohol in my room, they put me on a stretcher and get me into the ambulance. At the hospital, I was apparently antagonistic and hostile to the doctors, all but fighting back as they tried to get an IV in. My mom comes in and managed to calm me down, where I pass out again shortly after. I apparently woke up shortly after, and was just staring blankly into a corner. My mom sta beside me and asked if I knew who she was, and I evidently responded with, "You're. Mother." I have never called her mother before, it's always "Mom". She asked if I could tell her what was wrong, and I cradled my head and said "Hurts". That was apparently the first indication I gave that something was wrong with my head. They wanted to do a specific procedure, but didn't have anyone on hand at my local hospital to do it, so, they sent me down to EMMC (Eastern Maine Medical Center) in Bangor, ME. By the time I got there, it was probably April 10th. They wanted to do a procedure that should've cleared my sinuses, but first, one of the doctors wanted to do a Lumbar Puncture. I'm told the result shocked the doctor who did the puncture, as my CSF pressure came out, as he described "Like a power hose". He said that my results actually caused the indicator to go off the chart, and that pressure in my head was around "55mmHg"... normal is "7-15mmHg" and "20mmHg" is considered that something is wrong, "60mmHg" is considered fatal. So now, apparently, they were panicked, and called in Dr. Tobias Mattei, a neurosurgeon who had just started working there in January. Apparently, they sent him the results of a catscan they did of me, and he said, "20 minutes ago, I was home, getting ready to go to bed, now, I'm here. That's how serious this is." He told my mom that my brain was "suffering", it was apparently under so much stress, he said I shouldn't have been functioning at all for the last 48 hours. He then told my mom that if I had waited just 10 more hours, I would've been dead. So then, they put me into a medically induced coma, and began emergency surgery, which is called a "Craniotomy", which resulted in the removal of both bone flaps; around half of my skull: to put this into perspective, take two of your fingers, and move them to the center of the top of your head, now, move your fingers to just in front of your ears, now move them up to just above your eyebrows, maybe an inch or so. THAT is how much of my skull they removed. I woke up from my coma on April 12th, where my mom informed me of the day, and what had happened. Apparently, I had Bacterial Meningitis, and Severe Sepsis... the Bacterial Meningitis, I got from the ear infection, and the Severe Sepsis I likely had for about a week. Apparently, my brain was trying to crush itself against my skull, and Dr. Mattei said that it was completely covered in puss, and that they had to do a ten hour surgery to clean my brain. He said that he fully expected me to come out with the mentality of a five year old, and he was stunned when just several days after the surgery (naturally, I was on pain killers that made Vicodin look like children's pain relief for about a week), I was talking normally, and able to eat jell-o. So, I was in the hospital for about 13 days afterwards, and they actually let me go home by that point. I proceeded to live normally until the scheduled surgery to put my skull back on, May 30th. Well... things didn't go as planned after they put it back on... I went home two days after they put it on, and was fine for about two weeks... then CSF fluid was actually building up between my skull and my skin. Dr. Mattei said it could be just fluid leaking from between the incisions in my skull, and so, I went to see him once every three days for a few weeks, so he could drain the CSF fluid so it wouldn't build up too much... Then July 7th comes around, and OH BOY, is that a day... July 7th, I woke up normally, and even walked down to pick up a soda for my mom and I. We're on our way to see Dr. Mattei using a driver service. And I'm sitting in the backseat... not forty-five minutes goes by, and I begin to feel pale and clammy, I can remember leaning to my side and looking at my hands, and all I can hear is my breathing, which was loud and echoing to me... and then I can't remember anything else. Apparently, I began to have a series of Grand Mal Seizures, making a keening noise and slumped forward. My mom and the driver stop the car and call 911, right there on the side of the road. When the ambulance gets there, they drag me out of the car, put me on a stretcher, and take me to a nearby hospital, Sebasticook. During the ambulance ride, and around an hour in the hospital, I have more seizures, and one that lasts an hour. They do a catscan, and see then I have a tremendous amount of fluid on the right side of my head; so much so, that it had caused a mass-shift alignment of my brain, and PUSHED the right side of my brain over into the left. The doctors there quickly come to the conclusion that they aren't equipped to handle this, and send me to EMMC again. At EMMC, they drill a hole into my skull to relieve pressure, and it seems to work. Dr. Mattei wasn't able to do the surgery, but he was able to come in to see me the next several days... where they realize that it didn't work, and CSF fluid is still building, and not draining properly. So, they come to the conclusion that my bone flaps are infected, and remove those once more. When they do, they find that I had a staph infection, and put me on about four weeks of antibiotics, which need to be injected three times a day. With that as a condition, they can't send me home. I then spend the next four weeks at Sebasticook, getting my antibiotics. Dr. Mattei contacts us, and says he is ordering a replacement set of boneflaps, made a special kind of polymer, which, as he said, should be even stronger than my actual bone... but, they wouldn't be ready until November... Yeah... that's right... I spent from July 21st to November 17th, without my skull... I had to wear a helmet whenever I got up, and my immune system was shot to hell, so I my mom limited my interactions out in public. Finally, this November, on the 17th, I got the replacement parts put in, and am now in recovery, hopefully done with this horrible period of my life. SO, that is the story of my year! Just wanted to post this here, in case anyone was wondering why I was so quiet this past year! A 50-something year old white woman arrived at her seat and saw that the passenger next to her was a black man. Visibly furious, she called the air hostess. "What's the problem, ma?" the hostess asked her "Can't you see?" the lady said - "I was given a seat next to a black man. I can't seat here next to him. You have to change my seat" - "Please, calm down, ma" - said the hostess The hostess left and returned some minutes later. "Madam, as I told you, there isn't any empty seat in this class- economy class. And before the woman said anything, the hostess continued "Look, it is unusual for our company to allow a passenger from the economy class change to the first class. And turning to the black man, the hostess said: "Which means, Sir, if you would be so nice to pack your handbag, we have reserved you a seat in the first class..." And all the passengers nearby, who were shocked to see the scene started applauding, some standing on their feet." SHARE IF YOU ARE AGAINST RACISM The white man said, "Colored people are not allowed here." The black man turned around and stood up. He then said: "Listen sir...when I was born I was BLACK, When I grew up I was BLACK, When I'm sick I'm BLACK, When I go in the sun I'm BLACK, When I'm cold I'm BLACK, When I die I'll be BLACK. But you sir, When you're born you're PINK, When you grow up you're WHITE, When you're sick, you're GREEN, When you go in the sun you turn RED, When you're cold you turn BLUE, And when you die you turn PURPLE. And you have the nerve to call me colored?" The black man then sat back down and the white man walked away... Post this on your profile if you hate racism. Now, aged fourteen, he leads a group of bandits and marauders, and goes about on a quest of violence and hatred against the man who committed the crimes. Interested? Well, I should probably mention this... Just a small detail... Jorg is... well, special. He's an unforgivable sociopath, who thrives off of the pain of others, and deeply enjoys the fear he can put into people. At least, in the first book. I know, I KNOW! Why should you give this series a chance, with a hero such as that, and his companions are no better? To put it simply, it's the way the author writes the character of Jorg. As the story goes on, you develop... not a sympathy to Jorg, you don't feel his pain, but you come understand exactly why he became what he became. Reality is, while he is a sociopath, he's also a child. He's only fourteen, and he is damaged and hurt by what he has gone through, that reality is, he's a broken character. Also, he does go through character growth, by the third book, (Emperor of Thorns), he is no longer the sadistic child from the first book, but rather, is a cold, ruthless, and calculating character, that also develops a strange empathy for others. He no longer looks upon everyone with the same callous attitude, but actually becomes emotionally attached to certain people and things(even thought he refuses to admit it.) Anyway, I hope I have done this book series justice in describing it, and I hope you guys pick it up! It has taken the place as one of my top favorite book series of ALL time! Yup, it trumped Game of Thrones! |
