Author has written 5 stories for Dragon Ball Z, and Gundam Wing/AC.
Hi! I'm GothicDream.
I'm a petite 25-year-old with a wild imagination and a personality profile that suggests I become a "mastermind." I'm your typical animal-lover, nature lover and food (chocolate!) lover. I am a travel-lover as well, and I've found excuses to live in four different countries in the past four years.
My stories tend to be long and epic, and lately they are somewhat influenced by modern global political issues.
I tend to be an over-achiever when it comes to academics, and my travels and studying have always kept me quite busy. Balancing school, work, and other hobbies has often kept me away from FF.net a bit more than I would like, and I've never really gotten a chance to join any forums or anything.
I tend to stick to anime fandoms as they are often able to develop more colorful, creative, and well-rounded characters than other forms of media. I have recently come to terms with the fact that I prefer dark, somber characters with troubled pasts to cheerful, happy-go-lucky ones. Whether this is a reflection of my own personality I couldn't say, but they always seem like the most likable people to me, and I love fleshing them out more. It will come as no surprise then, that Vegeta, Heero Yuy, and Seto Kaiba are among my favorite characters. I've already written plenty of Vegeta-centered fanfiction, and have one completed (and one in progress) Heero Yuy-centered fic. I also have one Seto Kaiba fic in its infancy, but I'm not sure when (or if) that one will ever get off the ground.
I have written five stories for DBZ, but only 3 are currently up.
Now complete, "Crimson" is my newest endeavor, and has turned out to be my most popular story. Frieza's legacy lives on in strange ways. There is a war being waged in space between two empires. That war has reached the Earth, decimating the earth's population and robbing the Z fighters of their Ki. The Z fighters are left with a choice: try to keep fighting off the empire despite their handicap, or ask for aid from the attacking empire's enemy, the Krimzon (whose empress mysteriously owes Vegeta a favor). When they choose option B, it has unforeseen consequences. Vegeta is recognized, arrested, publicly tried, and then drafted as the empress's right hand man. Through various exploits, Vegeta quickly becomes #1 on the enemy empire's hit list, but it's only a matter of time before the intrigue and deception of the intergalactic war ensnare him. Just a note, I wanted to try a story where the heroes didn't rely on brute strength and enormous Ki to win their battles. Also, though I also am fond of Goku, I thought I'd give other characters the chance to be heroes from time to time. There are still be loads of martial arts and Ki blasts being thrown about. Just as warning though: this one can be dark at times, full of treachery, cunning, and violence.
"Slacker" is a rather dark high school fic that begins the the merging of two high schools--a rich private school and a not-so-rich public school. The story details the birth of new friendships and the ways in which tragedy can bring people together. It explores the normal drama of high school, part-time jobs, and college applications as well as the not-so-normal drama that results from a psychopathic killer being on the loose in the city...a killer that is targeting a very particular person.
"Schemer" is my only oneshot, and my only DBZ story that isn't centered around Vegeta. During the World Martial Arts tournament, Trunks decides that he will go to any lengths to be able to fight in the adult division. So he concocts a cunning plan that involves a few odd characters, several innocent bystanders, and Bulma's credit card.
"Legend of the Ex" and the "Coming of Dusk" (both temporarily removed) are two of my first pieces. I wrote them when I was thirteen, and though I rewrote them again a few years later, the story-lines play testament to my 13 year old whimsical imagination. But I've been told that that makes them a fun read. So the story? Basically, King Vegeta was right. Vegeta was born as the most powerful Saiyan warrior in centuries, and he did have the power to defeat Frieza--a power so great that it could tear down the barriers between dimensions. However, knowing this, Frieza found a way to steal that power away for himself (though he never did find a way to use it). Years later, some demons who had been banished to another dimension for thousands of years find a way to "kidnap" Vegeta and bring him back to their dimension. Their goal: to get him to break down the barrier that separates their dimension from the human one. Unfortunately, Vegeta doesn't have the power to do that anymore...and he doesn't remember a time that he ever did.
I've also got a Gundam Wing story. It's called 'Operation Rebirth.' It begins just after the end of the war. Heero is unused to a life of peace, and doesn't know quite what to do with himself and his new-found free time. When a young woman politely (and perhaps accidentally) offers for him to accompany her on a personal humanitarian mission around the world, Heero decides to tag along. But can someone who was raised as the perfect soldier ever learn to live among normal people? And can completing this new mission really bring his soul peace? Heero will find out. On this adventure, he will learn much more than he'd have ever imagined about life, friendship, love, girls, and even himself.
The sequel to 'Operation Rebirth,' which is coming along rather ploddingly (though not abandoned) is called 'The Chessmaster.' Set several years after the events of 'Operation Rebirth,' a brutal terrorist attack on the Preventer's headquarters results in Heero's wife seemingly dead, and uncovers hints of a deadly plot by an unknown organization. But is everything as it appears? Who is pulling the strings behind the attacks, and what do they want with Heero?
