Important Notice: I have found myself leaving this site. The only two, "_ read _" style stories that I have ever enjoyed were both recently deleted through the actions of the group Critics United. At first I though that CU was actually trying to benefit this website, and perhaps some of its members do have that as their goal, but what I have seen here sickens me. CU selectively chooses which stories they should take down, and rather than going after serious problems on this website (such as the blatant plagiarism that many "reading" fics are) they attack beloved stories to fulfill their desire for power. It sickens me that a group such as this is allowed to dictate policy here. I do not understand why the admins are putting up with it. After all, in the end it is the opinions of the readers and writers that matter, not the opinions of a group that proclaims itself our saviors then destroys what we hold dear. CU has driven away scores of readers and writers from this site. In my opinion, this is a good reason to shut them down. This site makes money from advertisements. Advertisers pay more if a site has more pageviews. CU is driving away customers of this site, thus lowering the number of pageviews. Does the site administration really want less money? Or do they just not care at all?
CU calls itself "critics". Apparently they do not know the definition of the word. I considered myself something of a critic on this site, I would read a story, then leave an in depth and helpful review for the author to improve, though both praise at what they did right and constructive criticism at what they could have done better, and to help guide readers towards the most excellent of stories. This is what a critic is supposed to do, not write "You are in violation of [Rule]". That is not critiquing, that is playing hall monitor. Also, since I challenged CU over this matter, I have received a number of anonymous reviews on my stories insulting me, it is clear that I am no longer welcome here. I do not mind however, as the site that I have found is actually far Superior to FF dot net. The site is called archive of our own at the url archiveofourown (dot) org. It looks nicer, functions nicer, and has admins that actually bother to respond to the patrons of the site. Goodbye fanfiction.net.
