Sal-U-Tations! I had stopped writing ages ago, and then I found RWBY. I have other series that I love, including The Dresden Files. Back in January of 2016, I first got the idea that the two would go together like PBNJ. When I came here to look for other crossovers, I was shocked to find none at all. Well, dear readers, that would not do, not at all. Thus began my year-long struggle to return to the writer's desk. I've made some new friends along the way, and even inspired a few others to write their own tales of daring-do. I also curate the Writing Prompt Wednesday threads on the RWBY subreddit. Therein a random RWBY-related prompt is selected from a growing list (which people add to each week) that is subject to public vote. Once the prompt is selected, people are encouraged to write a short story (1-3k word length is suggested). Feel free to drop by and read, comment, or even offer something of your own! Apart from a yearly contest held for the holidays, there is no competition, and the only prize is the reward for a bit of your time and effort. I do my best to read everything and offer my thoughts, as do others.

I have a lot of fics that I read, and a couple that I edit for. Currently I have the two pieces that are tied together. There are also two other pieces that stand apart from those. One contains elements from a Writing Prompt shorts, while the other, with a much darker theme, rose from a very unexpected request.

Dust and Motes - Yang is torn from her world and thrust into Chicagoland by means unknown. Fortunately for her, Harry Dresden is on the case. Unfortunately for everyone else, the world may end in fire and bad jokes. // Set after Skin Game (spoilers!) and events in RWBY are canon up to v3e10. As of this writing, Act I is nearly complete, and there are plans for two more of equal or greater length. Updates are supposed to be weekly, however with the additional workload, this may be scaled back to bi-weekly, depending on time.

The Twelve Swords of Penny Polendina - Penny Polendina had been destroyed. Her plan wasn't meant to be used this way, but now it was up to her to defend Vale's CCT from a sinister threat. With a little luck she won't have to do it alone... // Companion story set after the Act I interlude chapter of Dust and Motes. Updates bi-weekly.

Fang and Thorn: Defiance - Adam Taurus had joined the White Fang because of Blake. When her nature turned too dark for him to ignore, he did the only thing he could - he ran. He now treads a dangerous path, and he will need his team to see it through. // This is the story that came from a writing prompt, and attempts to follow canon, while adding new material along the way. Updates will occur monthly.

Crown of Thorns - Ruby Rose had promised her mom that she would look out for her little sister. When Adam Taurus took Yang's arm, Ruby decided that he had to pay with his head. Anyone who gets in her way will share his fate. // This story is another role-reversal that is much darker in tone, as requested. since there seems to be some confusion, the relationships are: Summer and Taiyang are Ruby's parents; Summer abandoned Ruby and Tai, while Raven stepped in to help. Raven and Tai are Yang's parents, and Raven disappeared on her last mission. Updates will be monthly.

Journal Entry, 2/18/2017 - I've decided to start keeping brief updates here each month. I had planned on doing an update every time I posted a new chapter, but just nailed down a new job and have been working hard to get settled in. I'd also had plans to start working on original fiction that I'd hoped to start a few weeks ago, but again, new job, stuff had to get put on hold. I have done some work on the first chapter of Artificial Outlaw, and as soon as that goes up, I'll post a new status here even if it's in between regular journal entries.

Dust and Motes just got updated a couple of days ago, and I already have the next chapter halfway(ish) done, so if I work hard this weekend, maybe I'll have another for you! Act one finally came to a close early this month, and though I'm sure everyone is eager to see Harry and Murphy in Remnant, just a couple more chapters in Chicagoland - I promise! ;)

Fang and Thorn's next chapter is off to a good start, and if it isn't finished this weekend, it will be soon after. I've heard some commentary on canon retread, and I hear you. People are looking for more divergence, and I've been trying to write with this in mind. That having been said, you will still get some snippets from the show, though some events may play out a little differently here and there. I'm tinkering with a couple of subplots that I'm going to introduce in chapter eight or nine, which will give everyone some fresh material on top of Adam's time at Beacon. For those looking for a little romance, I'm sorry to say that I'm going to disappoint, though there may be a teensy bit of fluff - no promises.

Crown of Thorns finally got an update at the end of last month, and I'm starting to think that it will end up being a shorter story after all. Ten or twelve chapters at most. However, if I have any ideas on how to deepen the plot, that may change. I have a plan for the next chapter, but no actual writing done. I will be working to remedy that somewhat this weekend.

Twelve Swords is the chapter I'm stalled out on right now. It isn't a question of not knowing what to write, but how to go about writing it. As promised, this next chapter is all about Penny, and it's going to be a doozy. There will be feels, and that's really about all I can say. This will be next weekend's project (assuming I can stay on task with all of the other writing I'm doing.
