Poll: I haven't written anything in a while...and I want to write a new story. Which of the following should I write? Vote Now!
Author has written 19 stories for Super Smash Brothers, Star Fox, Mario, Metal Gear, Sonic the Hedgehog, Pokémon, and Neopets.
Well. This needs an update, doesn't it?
Fear not, for I am not deceased. Alive and well, I assure you.
Okay...major update in three...
Okay, yeah. Profile time! Let's get down to it!
Who are you?!
My name is BAA. Not much is to be said about me, really. I'm a teen writer whose part of a lot of fandoms, and like to fantasize myself as a decent writer. (You...can read this, right?) I usually write for Sonic, and I do occasionally write for Star Fox and have been known to write for Metal Gear, Mario, and many, many others.
Here are some things about me:
-My birthday is on August 24th, in case if you cared.
-I'm female. Hey, people on here thought I was male. It, you know, happens.
-My favorite games are Shadow the Hedgehog, Star Fox: Assault, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Star Fox 64, and...meh. I don't want this to be my who profile.
-I'm a big fan of Nirvana, Coldplay, Lady Gaga, Crush 40, Britney Spears, Evanescence, David Guetta, Kanye West, Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj...and...oh, I don't know. Name some people you dislike. I've got a better chance of liking those.
-I like shows like Adventure Time, Regular Show, Cake Boss, Toddlers a-*gets shot*
-I've been known to make a bunch of puns. Maybe somePUN out there gets a kick outta them.
-I'm overly obsessed with Game Grumps and Nostalgia Critic.
-...Meh. I think that's enough right now.
How in the hell did you end up here?
A friend told me of this place in the cold, brutal winter of December, 2012. I was skeptical of this place, for I thought it was crawling of freaks and crazy fangirls who dream of stroking Shadow's chest fur. Well, I was right, but with nearly twenty stories and being here for a year, I think I've been able to hold myself up okay.
STORIES I'VE WRITTEN
What have you written here?
Lots o' stuff. Some of it is better than others, and I'll most certainly state that I'm not the best writer in the world. I like to think I'm...adequate.
Here's a list of stuff I've written...
Key: ()-fandom, :)-personal favorite, :(-OHGODWHYDIDIWRITETHISWHYYYYYY, italics-special anon guest message
Defying the Rain (Star Fox): Currently my biggest project, and I guess you can say it's the spiritual re-do of the then Star Fox: Odyssey. I mean business with this one. I like to think it's going well so far, and I plan for this to be long. All I need is a good update schedule for this one...
Nothing at the moment. That mayhaps change, however.
Star Fox: Odyssey (Star Fox): Oh dear, oh dear, this story. Let's just put it this way: 35,000 words. 5 chapters. Wasn't even a tenth of the way done. First series. No idea what I was doing. Knew nothing about Star Fox. Had an obnoxious OC. Didn't even PLAY Star Fox before writing this. Poor format. Poor dialogue. Insert your reason here.
For the Win (Sonic): Got tired of looking at it. Shameful piece. Next.
The Ultimate Life Fail--A Shadow the Hedgehog Parody (Sonic): I just lost interest in it too quickly. I've actually had thoughts of writing a parody one-shot...but...not right now.
The Roster (Super Smash Bros.): I got too serious with it. It was meant to be a collection of one-shots, but they all got way too angsty, and the entire series was going down a road I did not wish to travel. You can find its first two one-shots in the archive, however. So...yeah. That's the end of that story.
Embarrassment and a Terrible Soundtrack (Super Smash Bros.): First FanFic, right here, that I wrote during French class. (I walked out of that class with a 97. "You don't pay attention!" PFFT.) This really got the ball rolling, and it was fun to write. It was based on a true experience, where my friend was Link, I was Falco, and we were up against Pikachu and Jigglypuff. A bunch of hilarious BS ensued, and thus, this was born.
Foxy Buddy (Star Fox): A Christmas-y thingy based off the song "Santa Baby", where Slippy sings to Fox begging for him to save his life. That poor, festive frog. This parody song has horrid format, but I like to think it's...alright. Fits the season, at least.
-Awww, my first guest review was here! Thank you, un-named anon guest. I bet you're so cool. ;)
WE'rE WatChInG YOu (Mario) :(: Well, let me put this to you bluntly. This story sucks. It's based off of the "trees" in Shiverburn, but it's a super-awkward story, take it from me. I was depressed when writing it, and with me, I write the worst when depressed. The lack of love shows. I'm only leaving this up because, besides the fact I don't like it, I have no reason to delete it. I suppose some like it when they read it, so...yeah. It's a subjective piece. Let's leave it at that.
IMAGINATION! (Metal Gear) :): I knew almost NOTHING about MGS while writing this story. It was a two-parter friendship fic, and it almost flew under the radar in the archives. But it seems that, after a while, it got some attention. (How it started getting a bit noticed...well...we'll get to that later on.) I personally enjoyed this piece, both writing it and reading back, even after a long time since it was published. Sometimes you may not need to know the fandom to have a good time with it.
I Gotz Da DONUTS! (Pokemon): My first crack-fic based on my disdain towards 4Kids, those guys that really loved to spit on Japan's awesome work and make it "kid-friendly", but instead make it mind-blowingly stupid and make us all forget that these shows were actually awesome [for the most part] before those big corporate men got their grubby little mitts all over it. I don't have much to say about this, really. Just...enjoy the random acid trip.
Sonic's Letters (Sonic): This fic is just an interesting one. Fifty letters. It was nuts to write. It took months to finish, yet not long at all to write any of the letters. Feel free to call this a crack-fic too, and this went through literally everything. It was deleted, re-named, and apparently given over 25,000 views and over 400 reviews. Damn. That did NOT deserve that, but really, thank you all. I surely did not expect this letter craziness to be so popular! :D
-Special thanks to, (we should save this for later, but...) Random Person, who came up with a whole lot of great ideas for this story. You're awesome, man. Wait for your big "Thanks!" speech later. :D
-This was the only place I deleted a guest review, and that was a review sent by some person named "Max" who came up with the notion that, because I hate Cosmo, I "hate African Americans too". Um...no. That had nothing to do with anything. Thank you.
Where Are We From? (Super Smash Bros.): Remember that awkward car commercial with that kid who asked his parents where babies are from? Yeah. Yeah, that one. Well, that was the inspiration for this one-shot about Ness and Lucas, just having a casual, yet "deep" conversation of life and its origins...using Portal references. Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking neither, but I like to think it's okay. ...Portal references are aplenty, at least.
Really, Princess? (Mario): A poem about Mario's secret hatred towards Peach and how she gets kidnapped all the time. This was a fun way to spend fifteen minutes. Oh, and while we're here...
-Mango in my soul, whoever you are, Mario and Peach are NOT married. All Mario has ever gotten was a peck on the nose and some cake. ...Okay, okay, maybe some racetracks and real estate, but if I was Mario and had to save a princess, I'd want more than that if I have to travel around the world and back. I like Mario/Peach as well, as you obviously do, but that was NOT directed AT ALL towards the pairing WHATSOEVER. It was a HUMOR PIECE. Give it a rest. (This got me really fired up when I saw this review...)
O-Oh, right. Where were we? Oh yeah. This poem's okay. I like it.
Speed of Sue--A Sonic FanFic Parody (Sonic) :): A parody on all Sonic cliches found in FanFiction. I like this story, but I have a feeling I rushed it by the end and got TOO random at places. It's fun to read through again, and it was even more fun to write, thinking up as many cliches to bring to light possible. This WILL be a series...but it's pending. I have many other things to work on first. Also, while we're here...
-bearvalley3365, please notice that I will never put your OC in this story. One, because the story was FINISHED when you put those three reviews straight up, two, because this was a parody on all Sonic FanFic fodder, including your OC "Noah Whatever" the Panda, and three, OCs just aren't my deal. Sorry, but please at least pay attention to the story you're requesting to have your OC in before you make the request and put your OC's life story on the review page. It's just common courtesy, man.
Get Lost Sometimes (Sonic) :): I don't know how, I REALLY don't know HOW, but this story unbelievably won the Kelvinania Summer's Up! Challenge. I really could not believe I won, because I thought that Pathfinder's Apprentice by Speedy1236 and Zoned Out by Dr Namgge would win easily; they totally deserved it. All the entries were amazing, and the contest was such fun to be in, with the theme being "lost" or "loss"; my fic was based on getting lost in Lost Impact...and in some way, it worked. :)
Sonic Legends: Cobalt (Sonic): Feel free to call this my REAL first FanFic. I wrote this a long time ago, back when I had no clue what a FanFic even was. It was 100 chapters of the opus of Sonic cliches, with Mary-Sues and awkward Sonic/Amy, Tails/Cream, Shadow/Rouge, Silver/Blaze, Charmy/Marine, and, get this, Espio/Wave romance. Oh, and Shadow gets beat up by his twin sister in this story. Oh yes. It's wonderful. Heavily edited and broken beyond repair, but...wonderful.
Within the Games (Neopets) :(: The first time I was ever published online. This is , on the Neopian Times, and I have no idea why. TNT, man. They be a weird group. It's so, SO laughably horrendous, with a Mary-Sue and bizarre story-telling to boot. Feel free to read for lulz. Please. I insist.
THE WALL OF MENTIONS:
I've met tons of people here, out of all the time I've spent here. I've made some friends, encountered some not-so-stellar individuals, and made my fair share of mistakes. Here, on the Wall of Mentions, all who have made an impact on me as a writer and reader shall be...well, mentioned, and be given the words of praise and acknowledgement they deserve.
NOTE: What's ahead is some of the mushiest stuff ever. It's ridiculously long, too. I'm bringing up tons of people here. You've been warned, you know.
Special Thanks To... (In no particular order...)
TwilitSmashNova: For being the first person ever to review a story of mine. It was a simple bit of praise for Embarrassment and a Terrible Soundtrack, but her words of encouragement were the jumpstart I had on this wonderful journey through FanFiction.
TheFlyingLion: For being the first friend I've ever had on FanFiction. This was the very first person to ever favorite a story of mine, and gave me one of the nicest reviews I've ever received from any writer ever. The story was IMAGINATION!, a story that I thought went through the site unnoticed. But this guy truly made me feel special, and I felt ever so gratified that someone actually read my work and liked it. This guy is very, VERY encouraging, and is the type of person this site just needs more of.
PuppyPaw: For being so open by letting me join my first forum, Quality Supporters. She's very caring, and passionate about what she does, trying to make the archive a better place. However, I did leave the forum after a point...you'll read more about that later on.
MessengerOfDreams: For writing the first story I ever favorited, and inspired me to strive to do my very best. I was blown away by "freefall", and it's something that I still read back through again and again to this day. It's an extremely wonderful, awe-inspiring work that should be on the reading list of every person who likes and respects Falco as a Star Fox character. Having someone like this read my humble work is such a total honor.
Random Person: PLEASE MAKE AN ACCOUNT SO I CAN FAVORITE EVERYTHING YOU DO. Seriously, though. This person is amazing, giving me support almost from the very beginning and giving me ideas for stories I was writing. Possibly one of the awesomest anon guests on FanFiction, right here.
FromAnotherWorld: For literally being the only person who took the time to review Star Fox: Odyssey while it was online. She wasn't afraid to say what I could improve on; call this person my first ever critic, and her suggestions were taken quickly with open arms.
Dr Namgge: For being the one person who's followed Speed of Sue all the way through with every single chapter, and gave me so much constructive criticism it's amazing; he's also reviewed and read other stories of mine with an open mind, and we've had a bunch of PM conversations on the craziest of things. The state of FanFiction at the moment, how our own works are doing, different things about Sonic, and this guy has even given me life advice. I've thanked this guy endlessly, and he says he has no idea what he did, but he's really helped me more than he can understand.
Lord Kelvin: AAAAAAH!!!!1111 LORD KELVIN!!! HIDE YOUR KIDS, HIDE YOUR WIVES!!!!11 But in all seriousness, I'm actually thanking this person for...several things, actually. For being honest in what he does, for giving true advice, and for inviting me to be a member of Kelvinania, one of the greatest Sonic forums ever. Through this forum, I've made friends with fellow authors and have explored a new realm of writing that's pushed me to my limit with my writing. Looks really are deceiving, but this really is a nice person and respectable critic, whose work is also worth mentioning. And no. I'm not kidding.
Dimentio's Epic Girlfriend: For just being so nice. She's followed Speed of Sue AND Sonic's Letters, and put in some hilarious commentary in her reviews. She's gone through the troubles of the idiotic, "Add my OC! Use my idea!" reviewers, and just had a bad time with it in the past. She's not as active that much anymore, but she's so down-to-earth and respectable, (and The Gum That Wouldn't Die is the bee's knees).
PurrfectChaosInfinity: For being very supportive of me and just being such an awesome friend. Words of encouragement can go a long way, and this guy sure knows what to say to make this author smile and feel good inside. :D I'll soon be beta-reading for a project of this author's, and you have no idea how excited I am. I shan't spoil anything else. ;)
K.S Reynard: For being so welcoming and pretty much being an advocate for the Star Fox archive. He's been following and giving me some great input for Defying the Rain, and he, along with Emile the Watcher, are currently hosting a Christmas contest, which is something else I'm really excited for.
flamewarflipsides: For writing one of the best FanFics on this site. (Pretense in the Mirror? Freaking masterpiece.) I've talked to this woman, and she's truly awesome with what she does. The way she writes is inspirational...and may I also point out that she's also welcomed me on deviantART? Just simply amazing.
explodinghead: For welcoming me both here and on deviantART. This person's always fun to check out, as their Fanfics and original writing on deviantART is great. This person's also given me some honest input on Sonic Legends: Cobalt, which is obviously well-appreciated.
KoopalingFan: For supporting me and being a treat to talk to. His input and kindness is so well-appreciated and thoughtful, and some of the things he's told me are just too much. His work, "Brawl Adventure", is one of my personal favorite works on this site, and he's also invited me into his SSB community, which is jam-packed with the coolest SSB fics around. Definitely one of the cool kids in the Super Smash Bros. archive.
Mystery002: For writing the inspiration behind Speed of Sue, Sonic the Parody, and for just being an inspiration altogether. Everything, literally, EVERYTHING under this person's belt is just stellar, and is one of the best authors I've ever come across in this site. Simply amazing.
xxRubyjanetxx: For possibly being one of the most brilliant trolls of all time that somehow taught me a lesson. I'll admit. When I reviewed "The gratest pokemon master" I was an idiot. I said the story was a waste of everyone's time and I tried making a point, but all I did was sound like a moron. Finally, when the truth came out she was a troll and she let out that final chapter roasting all her reviewers, I was mortified by how dumb I sounded. I left an apology review, having no idea she was a troll, and she responded back as friendly as possible. One thing led to another, and the next thing I knew, I had respect for this person. She's actually a really nice person who wrote this story for a good, respectable cause...and damn, did she put me in my place, which is what I really needed, after acting so pompous. Just...check out the story yourself to see what I mean. It's humiliating on my part... XD
Speedy1236: For reminding me why I like Sonic in the first place. Such a nice person, whose Sonic stories are second to none, and it's such an honor having a writer like this comment on a work like lil' ol' mine. If you want to know how to write Sonic into a story, be sure to make this person's profile your first stop.
ThePokemonMage: For actually warming me up to yaoi. Never thought I'd like it, but hey, she showed me something new, and she just writes so well! She also supported me a lot in the making of Sonic's Letters, and has introduced to me an idea I'm not that used to with such charm and style.
Lordofthehostking28: For just being herself and just being so unique and innovative in the way she writes. She's not afraid to give off new ideas, and her style is always so much fun to read. She's let me be a part of "GhostKing Screws Up Time and Space VI", an awesome work, and the kindness and hilarity she expresses is matched by no one else.
ToxicTreacle: For warming me up to ol' Mephiles. XD In all seriousness, her work on her Shadow/Rouge stories are fantastic, and Mephiles is a character she's introduced me to in stories, and boy am I happy she did! Also, her suggestions in Sonic's Letters shall never be forgotten.
WrittenWithPencils: For being the author of one of the first Super Smash Bros. stories I ever got into. A guy with such talented can be hard to find nowadays, but yet, here he is. Super Smash Bros. would be an odd archive without this guy.
Regular sonic fan: For showing that you don't have to be perfectly, grammatically correct to have fantastic stories. This is why I'm not that nit-picky with grammar; even this person has acknowledged that there's some technical work to improve on, but seriously, the stories they have are just awe-inspiring and passionate, and definitely worth checking out.
Icy Fire 7: For all of her support. It's wonderful, meeting with such a nice individual with a great sense of humor. She's also really understanding. (Actually made a screw-up in a review. Kinda awkward...) Nonetheless, her work is definitely worth a look, especially if you want to see Sonic X take a beating. Everybody Hates Chris, after all.
SunsetBreeze7x: For relieving me. It's great to see that someone else had some of the same strifes as I've had with Sonic cliches, and she's once sent me a truly uplifting PM that made my week. A truly knowledgeable author who knows what she's talking about. (And that list on her profile about the cliches? Too. Freaking. True.)
Qwisse: For giving me honest critique on Sonic Legends and having a style not matched by many. Her works Sunday at School and Grandeur are classics that are two of the most detailed, stylistic works that I've ever come across. Truly a wonder.
PastaUnit01: For being a new author...and one of the best authors I've ever come across on FanFiction. This author right here is what every new author should be: accepting, thoughtful, and really shows what they got to contribute to the site. Just...WONDERFUL.
JennaRiedell: For sticking up for me. On Quality Supporters, I decided to leave one day. I'd rather not go into any of the details, but let's just say that she stood up for the opinions I left and reasons as to why I was leaving, and was very understanding in doing so. A truly kind so whose so brave; this site seriously needs more of her.
LordBalto 243: For writing the first story I ever followed. (GAHIMISSIT...) Really got me going with reading Sonic FanFiction, and is just nice all around.
Everyone who's ever reviewed, followed, or favorited: You're amazing. All o' ya.
There are, in fact, more to come...as long as I'm on this site. :)
People I Know In Real Life...
raining.sprinkles: This was the one who introduced me to FanFiction. Thanks for getting me addicted, pal. XD
Namitha: Oh, if only I was into anime...THEN I would understand what goes on in this person's FanFics. XD BUT! This awesome gal has a deviantART account, and she has made some really cool Markiplier fan art. :)
Nightfire713: Though this person isn't a Sonic fan, she reviewed and read Speed of Sue nonetheless. Oh, and may I mention this lovely lady has written a Yu-Gi-Oh!/Avengers yaoi crossover? Aw yeah. Go ahead and read it.
My friend who is an anon guest yet I know who she is because she tells me she reads and reviews my stories and likes them and this person is also my BFF that I've bugged constantly to make a FanFiction account and I really hope she does one day because she's really cool and her work would be amazing on here: ...Yeah. Thanks. XD
I'm beginning to warm up to it, really. Besides the work of ThePokemonMage and the stories of a select few, I'm not THAT into yaoi/yuri just yet. The only problem I've ever had with romance is that some of it all seems the same. Sonic/Amy just kills me at this point. Don't even get me to BEGIN on Shadow/Amy. I just don't like Amy. Never did...
Anyway. I used to hate romance, but now I realize I have no good reason to. I've actually had thoughts of writing some romance stories...I just need to warm up more to some first.
I'm okay with them, actually. PurrfectChaosInfinity once had the perfect example of a good Sonic OC that played a prominent role in the story yet had his own set of weaknesses and characteristic that made him work. Sadly, not all OCs are like that. I hold grudges against OCs because of this. It's okay to make your OC, you know, NOT God. I DO make OCs of my own, and I try to make them have flaws and not center themselves as main characters. And that Mary-Sue Litmus Test? I really don't like it, mainly because the whole idea of "Mary-Sue" is subjective. It's easy to tell a Mary-Sue, but if you honestly need a test to tell you if your OC's a Mary-Sure, then chances are, your OC is NOT a Mary-Sue. Just saying. The idea of a bad OC explains itself.
...Alright, I'll banter.
It just makes no freaking sense. High school is NEVER how people describe it in fics. We do have classes. Some of us DON'T have boyfriends or "do it" while we're in recess, which WE DON'T FREAKING HAVE. It's just all laughable and nonsensical, and most High School AUs are copy/pastes of their predecessors. Some of the attention they get is unbelievable. All in all, I hate the idea, (wrote parodies on it, obviously), but I never read or review something I know I'm going to hate walking into it. Speaking of which...
Well, I've finally made an encounter with trolls, so I may as well throw in my two-cents.
They sure know how to take the worst out of me, and with The gratest pokemon master, I made myself look so, SO stupid. When you see a troll, do NOT get yourself involved by trying to tell the author what's what with writing. Doesn't matter if you wanna mess with them "for the lulz". I learned my lesson and took it hard, and please don't even TRY to make yourself look better than the troll, otherwise, it shall be well-fed until obese from the rage and flames sent their way. They're rather prominent, yes, and easy to spot out, but if you are planning to take it seriously, don't. From the serious words sent to me by the great and powerful xxRubyjanetxx...
"people get so mad at trolls, they need to stop taking them selves so seriously."
Word up, man. Word up.
So, SO stupid. There's no point for them, with the exception of making troll-fics interesting. They're just cruel, and they can be borderline bullying, depending on the circumstances. They're time-wasting, they're hurtful, they're just. Plain. WRONG.
My general thoughts on FF right now...
...Well, I have obviously met some truly awesome people on this site...but I've had my fair share of idiots. There are some stories and authors here that get so much attention, that I just don't get. The quality of stories aren't the best and most original they can be, but that's what reviewing and critiquing is for. The entire archive for tons of fandoms could be better, but all they can do is improve. That's the whole thing about humanity itself: it evolves for millions of years and thus thrives on the improving of the entire species. As goes with everything else in life: the worst can only get better with encouragement and criticism, and yes, I may not like tons of stories out there right now, but can't all be fixed perfectly; it can only be helped.
...Wow. You read all that? I must say. I'm impressed.
Here. Have a cookie.
I believed I've killed a bunch of your time...now go read a good book, will you?
Also, feel free to check out my own work, and any and all input is accepted with a smile.
Thank you for visiting my page. Means a lot. :D
In the hopes that we many cross paths again one of these days...
