1982: the Vatican's first time putting up a Christmas tree leads to nostalgia between two old frenemies. Christmas special/ prelude/ could-be future chapter of the Purgatorio arc of The End of the Beginning, but can be read as a separate one-shot. Starts out angsty, moves on through friendship & humor to what *could* be romance. ;) Happy holidays!
