This profile may or may not be updated on anything closely resembling a regular basis (e.g. I had an account for two years before writing a profile) . . . A little bit about me: I graduated from university with a Biology major . . . and a minor in English literature. After working at my town's independent bookstore, I realised something--I wanted to be a librarian. As such, I went to library school & recently graduated. Presently, I'm not librarianing but I do intend to do so in the nearish future. I'm not much of an author--I mainly signed up for an account so I could keep track of my favourite stories and authors, as well as review. (I'm horrible at reviewing sometimes. Its something I really ought to work on.) Doctor Who is my current main fandom (or possibly obsession, depending on how you see things). Eight is "my" Doctor and I 'ship Eight/Charley as well as Eight/Grace. (For the new series, I 'ship Doctor/Rose--mostly Ten/Rose and Eight/Rose). Ian/Barbara is my Classic Who 'ship. Because they both WIN. I'm also quite fond of Five, Nine, Nyssa, Sarah Jane, Victoria, Donna, Amy & Rory, Ood, cuddle Daleks, Eleven, and of course, the TARDIS (wonderful Time & Spaceship that she is). X-Files sneaked up on me a bit--I only started watching it recently and haven't quite finished the series yet . . . but it has firmly set itself up as my secondary fandom nonetheless. I 'ship Mulder/Scully, think Skinner is AWESOME, and want the Lone Gunmen to meet Abby from NCIS and Hodgins from Bones (I refuse to believe a certain s9 episode happened). I watched the Disney animated Alice in Wonderland when I was younger & I think I liked it, but I never read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland until college (& loved it). I became more fond of Carroll's novels in library school & I now have an older!Alice RPG muse on LiveJournal. The fantastic When Curiousity Met Insanity introduced me to the wonderful ship that is Hatter/Alice. My other fandoms (and 'ships) include CSI (Grissom/Sara); Phantom of the Opera (Erik/Christine, but kind to Raoul--mostly the ALW- and Kayverses); House M.D. (House/Cameron); Torchwood (Jack/Gwen); Pushing Dasies (Ned/Chuck); Moonlight (Mick/Beth); Jane Austen (the canon pairings, though I'm especially fond of Brandon/Marianne and Henry/Catherine); Harry Potter (Remus/Minerva, crackish as it may be); Bones (Booth/Brennan and Angela/Hodgins); NCIS; Firefly (canon ships, though Simon/Kaylee is my favourite); Tin Man (Glitch/DG); The Looking Glass Wars (Hatter M ftw!); Madeline L'Engle's Time Quintet and Austin family series (Calvin/Meg & Adam/Vicky, respectively); Buffy the Vampire Slayer (GILES! Alice's Adventures in Wonderland in most of its various permutations (Hatter/Alice, especially WCMI). A few of my favourite quotes: “But I don’t want to go out among mad people,” Alice remarked. "I want to think quietly, calmly, spaciously, never to be interrupted, never to have to rise from my chair, to slip easily from one thing to another, without any sense of hostility, or obstacle. I want to sink deeper and deeper, away from the surface, with its hard separate facts. To steady myself, let me catch hold of the first idea that passes . . . Shakespeare . . . Well, he will do as well as another." "Mind you, I quite like hope. Hope's a good emotion." |
