Sept 2020 REWRITE (See notes in the end):
I've just completed five years posting on this site! It's high time to reformat this profile!
In brief, I'm a happy writer. Especially when I *do* manage to write something and post it. Lots of what I've written, though, are snippets way down the line of one of the stories I'm about to post, or have already started posting.
Many of my longer stories are written in "episodic format". That means a sequence of multi-chapter adventures that can either be original, imagined by me, or rewritten adventures adapted from the TV episodes. Between these adventures there'll often be "interludes" dealing with character development or other aspects of the overarching plot.
I'm writing in a wide range of formats, from short stories to long novellas, while trying a number of different approaches. I do have a number of original stories, still cooking, which I'll release once they are mature enough. Since this site doesn't allow for originals, I'll probably post them elsewhere, and leave a note here if you are interested.
Now, just to make it crystal clear, I do not own the fandoms I'm writing to here. Not Star Trek (AFAIK it's Paramount's), nor Doctor Who (BBC), nor Babylon 5 (Warner). Or any other I end up writing to. There are a few more I'd like to write to, one day. The owners of the rights have been nice enough to allow us to play with them, and I like to think our work make them all much more fun and entertaining.
I am committed to three long-term projects, two of which are crossover universes, and all of them involve the Doctor. In order of first posting:
1. To Boldly Go (TBG) / The Enterprise and the Doctor (TEatD): TBG: a collection of loosely-connected STxDW stories. TEatD: planned story in around 10 original episodes, plus interludes. It will be finished.
2. Chaos, Order, Time (COT): B5xDW story in episodes, sporadic, undefined length.
3. Reality Clashes (RC): collection of DW stories with an overarching plot in a loose sequence. In three parts, with well over 30 original stories already planned.
There are other stories I want to write, including original ones. The original ones won't appear here but in my AO3 account, under the same name. Besides Doctor Who, I have fun with other fandoms as well, though the flexibility and potential of the character of the Doctor often lead me to make crossovers with them.
Among the independent stories I want to post and develop are:
-Loop the Loop (DW) (provisional title): a study of the "sci-fi fan from our universe finds themself in the Doctor's universe" trope, though I'm taking it in a very different direction. It'll also serve to explore some of the DW meta myself and Jeanniebird have been busy writing and enjoying ourselves with! Mix of sporadic original adventures and rewritten TV episodes, diverges from canon early on, open-ended arc.
-Desolation (DW) (provisional title): the same trope, but taking it in yet another direction. Mostly original, sporadic episodes, planned ending, compatible with canon.
-Call me Bob (DW) (provisional title): short story, studying the circumstances and consequences of "The Christmas Invasion" TV episode, as well as being a Harriet Jones character piece.
-Carnival in Rio (DW): A relatively short story I've started way back in 2016, it'll be finished when I manage to find the time and mental capacity to resume it.
Nov 29 Note: Finally, I've managed to post something! And in time for Thanksgiving, for those in the US. Next chapter for COT is in the works, even if it's just a short one. I intend to post it, Call me Bob and the next chapter of TEatD, all before Christmas. It's just a question of doing it before the writer's block reestablishes itself. Ready, set, go!
Nov 12 Note: Okay, still alive and reasonably well. I did get sick for two weeks. Nausea and headaches aren't exactly conducive to writing. No, not COVID, thankfully. Even so, I did manage a lot of work done on Call me Bob, though it's still huge. I believe I've already written way more than 20k words for it, most of which ended up in the scrap bin. But this downtime did help me polish the story's argument, removing things secondary to the points I want to make. Anyway, it's still huge, and I'm still not sure when it'll be ready to send to my betas, so I'm back trying to do the final edits on the next chapters for COT and TEatD. I'm sorry for the delay, I'm no good sticking to deadlines. See you soon, folks!
Sept 29 Note: Yes I'm alive and well. Next chapter for COT, and the Call me Bob one-shot, should be posted soon, hopefully before the weekend. I haven't abandoned TEatD, it's the next one in the queue. It's just harder to work on it, lately. Thanks for everyone who has favorited/followed/reviewed! You brighten my day!
I did a brief check of this profile, I think it's good enough, now.
