I’m a 40-something Mum of two gorgeous girls, a husband who puts up with me always having my nose in a book (or now my nose in my ipad), a big dog with a licky tongue and two cats, one with only 3 legs!
My daughters were very young teens when the whole Twilight phenomenon was unleashed upon us. My youngest daughter quickly became a huge fan and was all talk about “team Edward” vs “team Jacob” and I really had no idea what she was going on about until my husband and I took her to the opening of the Twilight movie and BAM!!! It hit me too. I remember coming home from the theatre and quickly grabbing the books and I had my nose stuck in them the whole summer. My daughters have both well and truly moved on but I am still obsessed – they just keep shaking their heads and telling me to get a new hobby – well pfft to that!
I have come very late to fanfiction but am thoroughly enjoying it. Loving the wonderful stories I have found so far and looking forward to reading so many more. Thanks to the many talented authors who share their writing with us – I for one am very grateful.
One thing that I find very hard to come to terms with in some stories is the overuse of new names for characters. Some will become obvious during the story as to why they were chosen, others not so. But one recently read story (well, I attempted to read it) had introduced 12 new character names in the first 3 chapters - all I could think was WTF?!?! The Twilight series has so many character names, why not use them?
