I am a male college student who got into fanfiction last year. Right now, I consider myself a Harry Potter time travel/alternate dimension fan. I read obsessively, and am planning on beginning my own fic as writing practice.
To be honest, I don't really like the Harry Potter series. I just find that the HP universe makes a good template for fanfiction -especially time travel oriented works- and its popularity ensures a number of high quality authors. I don't think any of my favorites or stories actually feature canon!Harry, and I find it rather sad that the main character has to be changed in order to make a story that I'd enjoy.
I do not care for slash. I don't care whether someone is homosexual or not, but if such a relationship become the focus of a story, I will not read it.
As for my own stories, the quality will likely leave much to be desired. I have not written fiction before, and, for the most part, am not a fan of writing in general. That, of course, is something I am attempting to remedy. Because of this, constructive criticism is very welcome, especially when it comes to technical writing.
There are many things I would like to try out, Insane!Harry for one, but currently lack the skill to pull many off without them being complete piles of crap. Hopefully my first work will be acceptable, but hey, it's a learning experience.
