About me Name: Classified - If I know you, I am pretty open about it, otherwise I answer to Lady Lark, LL, Lark, Larkeh, and Larkie. My Philosophy on Reading and Writing I write the kind of stories that I want to read or the kind of story that makes me think or feel. I use fanfiction as a springboard into actually writing my own original works - however considering that I am a very slow writer. It seems unlikely that this will ever turn into a career. And I'm fine with that, really. I also tend to be a drive-by one-shot kind of writer. I'll get an idea in my head and shove it down on paper. I love and revere constructive criticism. It can be harsh so long as it makes valid points, although I will admit that I don't like vindictive reviews. So if you are flaming me because I left concrit on your story I will laugh at you. I firmly believe that everyone has the right to speak their opinions. This includes me. I am also one of those authors that is first and foremost a reader. I read a helluva lot more than I write. It is not unusual for me to have 10 or more stories open at a given time. I also try to leave a review on all of them. Although sometimes, I forget. I have a low tolerance for homophones, breaking the fourth wall, and Out of Character Theatre. As a reader, I like tight plots, engaging characters, and prose that keeps my interest. I absolutely hate the Flashback/End Flashback scene breaks. Learn to use scene changes or elements in the prose to get that across. I have one of the worst habits of any writer. I write very slowly at least when it comes to fanfic (sims stories are another can of worms all together, I am hella prolific there). But when it comes to fanfic the continents move faster, I am not joking. I will get distracted, blocked, bored, or busy and it will appear I have abandoned a story. I haven't. I plan on finishing all of my stories, someday. Just not today. I'm bored mostly and focused in another fandom as well as my career as an editor for Historical Romance. Thoughts on pairings I like romance. There is a time and a place for schmalpy, sappy fiction and a time for angst. Like in any story, I want my characters to be in character. I don't like it when the characterization is turned on its ear for no apparent reason just to make a pairing work easier. That being said. I am willing to consider most pairings. I tend to like canon pairings in general but I enjoy my fair share of crack. If the story is amazing, I can overlook pretty much anything. Fiction Update December 2013: I am not back. At least not here. I have another SN where I am writing stuff completely unrelated to any of my other fandoms. I am also still more focused on my sims stories. At this point, this Profile is pretty dead and likely to remain so for the time being. I'll keep doing drive by one shots and poking at my other fics. But at this point consider all fics on hiatus. Published Works in Progress - The ones I am actually working on. Plotting to Win -- Published Chapter 7 titled "Dinner and a Movie" Outlining Chapter 8 titled "Long Walks on the Beach." 60 words written. A Pressing Engagement (Pirates of the Caribbean) -- Published Chapter 7 and am Outlining the Epilogue/Final Chapter. 500 words written. |
