Author has written 3 stories for Teen Titans, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Labyrinth.
First of all, I suppose I should inform you I am female. If you're wondering why my profile is of Jareth the Goblin King, the sole reason is because I am absolutely in LOVE with David Bowie and this picture of him makes me laugh. "Oh no!" he says. "I'm on candid camera!" Hahaha... ah, Bowie. Prince of my heart.
Though I have tried and failed fanfiction many times before, I have recently begun to understand myself as a writer much more. I tried for a while to stick to the "Don't Post Unless It's Finished" rule, but that didn't work out. Actually, I was going pretty strong until I decided to become a beta and discovered that I HAD to post something that was in-progress in order to be eligible. Go figure.
Currently The Fates We Cannot Hear, which is my Fullmetal Alchemist project, is on a hiatus. I know, I'm sorry... but I don't think many people will be too upset, because Ling/Lan Fan is a rather under-appreciated and thus under-read section of the FMA fandom. I'm sure no one will notice... right?
My other work that is going strong is Deal, which belongs to the Labyrinth fandom. The stakes are a little higher on this, because it pertains to the most popular pairing in a rather popular fandom... so demand is high! I'm not complaining... I love this story! I have also completed an entire outline for it, so I know exactly where it is going and will not drop it for lack of certainty. :) Check it out if you like!
I am also going into my first year of college come this fall (exciting!), so there may be a dry spell as I adjust to new college life. We'll see when we get there!
P.S. I have been prided on my taste in authors/stories, so anyone or anything you see in My Favorites, take your pick! If it got on my favorites list, it is bound not to disappoint. Below is a short description of each from a reader's standpoint, letting you know exactly what to expect (with no spoilers).
You may also notice that some of the categories are very limited - this doesn't necessarily mean that I haven't read other stories that I wanted to Favorite: it most likely means that I forgot to favorite it at the time and now I have to rebuild from the bottom.
Teen Titan Stories
Demonized, by KevlarMasquerade (completed)
This is a Raven/Kyd Wykkyd story. I know, I know, I ship BBRae as hard as the next person, but curiosity got the better of me. When I tried it, I was surprised at how... plausible it seemed. I actually surprised me that I hadn't thought of the pairing before. Obviously, it is well-written and in-character, with a little artistic license as far as Kyd Wykkyd goes. I mean, you only see the guy a handful of times in the series. It's only expected. The plot is short, sweet and simple, kind of making that invisible audience in your head go "Aawwww", and making you want to read more. A truly good writing trait, I'd say.
Girl's Night Out with the Titans Network, by KevlarMasquerade (completed)
Okay, before you dive into this one, realize that it is slightly crack but hilariously relatable. I favorited it for whenever I need a laugh and a blush, because it truly is adorable. If any of the Teen Titans were normal kids in an abnormally large group of high school friends, I could definitely see this happening. I won't say more than that it includes alcohol, candid camera, and fluff. Repeat: if you are looking for a serious RobStar, BBRae, or any-other-pairing story that is rich in plot, do not stop here. Only stop here if you want to laugh that oddly maniacal fangirl laugh when you see your characters do something they would never do, but which you always hoped they would.
In Your Dreams, Garfield, by Lucky and Witty Number 18 (completed)
This, of course, is BBRae. It actually makes me think of something that could actually be a legitimate episode - that is both how simple the idea is and how well written the story. See, generally Teen Titans episodes are simple in plot and always have a moral (with a few exceptions, like the one where BB shows his geek and the season finales), and this short story ties in really well with that. It goes in a little deeper with Raven's powers, their capabilities, and her hidden feelings about Beast Boy. It also briefly takes into account the past of Terra, which I liked because it was not an overbearing additive and actually made the relationship between Raven and Beast Boy richer in a way that I won't tell you. It also doesn't focus on all that romancy stuff the entire way through, adding equal bits of humor, romance, parody, and drama to make it the perfect lost-episode-type fanfiction.
Time, by betweenraindrops (completed)
This is one that I most recently finished, and is a classic RobStar fanfiction. It has the whole shebang. The stubborn standoffish-ness of Robin, the shy affection of Starfire, the friendly shoulder of Raven, and even a bit of Beast Boy/Raven romance on the side. Of course, it comes complete with a happy ending. Yet, it goes beyond that. The author took the time to yo-yo up and down between the highs and lows of the Titans' lives. The effect is profound, and you feel the characters' feelings as if they were your own. Well, I had a little more trouble connecting with Robin, considering that I am a romantic junkie female at heart, and thus find the most natural connection with Starfire... but still. Very solid RobStar, and one for the (virtual) bookshelf.
Learn to Lust, by Alien Emerald (completed)
Don't be dissuaded by the title and the M rating. This oneshot is a non-smut RobStar that is fantastically written. It's a kind of AU version of when Starfire landed on Earth from Robin's perspective. True, it is darker and a touch more... sensual than the series, but that's a given. The point is, it's a believable "if things were different" fanfiction that has beautifully vivid and descriptive writing. It's less than 5,000 words, and there was no question after I read it - both the story and the author were going in the favorites. It definitely made an impression on me, and I recommend it to anyone who likes the more serious, realistic take in a Robin and Starfire romance.
Fullmetal Alchemist Stories
You Need Protecting Too, by KurenoxArisaxx (completed)
This is a cute little Ling/Lan Fan oneshot. It isn't pure fluff because it gets serious, but it made me go 'Aw' the end. Ling and Lan Fan are such a great pairing that I think it's really hard to get it wrong, but this writer wrote the relationship very well in a short amount of time. Kurenox highlighted the differences in their characters that make them perfect for each other: Lan Fan never sees herself as worthy enough, but Ling is stubborn enough to never give up trying to make her see. Actually, this oneshot is only one in a few LingFan jewels that this author has written - this was just the first one I read. So if you aren't interested in something that gets a little deep and you want more sugary fluff, you might be able to find something else in the author's repertoire.
Swallows on the Beam, by Shu of the Wind (In Progress)
This is a very realistic and historically accurate tale of romance between Ling and Lan Fan, and the story encircles mystery, action, suspense, and scandal in its plot... and that's just the beginning. It promises to be a long story and if you'll notice, Shu of the Wind is a little further down in this listing under Black Butler stories: Shu is an excellent author and has a touch for finesse, pacing that keeps the reader on his/her toes, and a plot that hints at deeper levels yet to be understood. So far it takes place after Ling has been Emperor for a while and Xing is starting to bristle with dark, ominous activity within and outside its borders. Lan Fan is forced to take on work that is outside her comfort zone for her master - here we get to see just how far they'll go for each other. As stated before, it has a lot of focus of mystery and suspense, complete with assassins, secret groups, and questionable intentions. Go read!
Harry Potter Stories
Remember Me Like I Remember You,by OogieBoogie (completed)
Ok, this is a Dramione, and I understand that this pairing is rather controversial. It's always been a kind of guilty pleasure for me, and that's exactly what this story is - a guilty pleasure. Take note, it is M rated, but it isn't one of those pure-lemon stories. Yes, it actually has plot. Shocker! Like I told the author, it's a short-sweet-simple kind of fanfiction classic that has a happy ending. Also, though it is short, it doesn't forfeit the quality of writing that makes you miss the emotion. I found myself getting cloggy-throated and achy-hearted and everything (although I am kind of a hopeless romantic). It gives you a glance into what it means to fall in love, however hard or slow the fall is. So if you don't absolutely hate this pairing, it is post-Hogwarts and is accurate and realistic (in the world of Harry Potter), and I fully recommend it.
Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) Stories
Domina Esques, by Shu of the Wind (completed)
This is an extremely well-developed, well-written, and satisfyingly long story that centers around Elizabeth and Ciel. If you're like me and have only seen the anime, I can promise that this Lizzy is a helluva lot more interesting and generally kick-ass as a strong female character. It does include romance, but it develops at a very appropriate and well-timed pace, which means that it is also 41 chapters long. It does not lack of action and intrigue, and is equal parts mystery, supernatural, scandal, and romance. What's more, it's period-accurate to boot! This author does a very good job of balancing pace and emotion, and the climax is well worth the wait. There's so much more I could say, but overall just understand it is one of the best Kuroshitsuji fanfics you could read. The author is also working on a sequel, and has a few companion drabbles.
Phantom of the Opera Stories (Note: I'm partial to Susan Kay and Leroux versions as opposed to Webber. Take that into consideration with the stories below)
P.S. if you do not find one of your favorite of all favorites fanfics posted here in one of the categories I have posted, please feel free to let me know if I'm missing something! I'm always eager to read good fanfiction.
