Author has written 5 stories for Supernatural, Charmed, and Grimm.
I should say something about myself...
I have one dog and no kids.
I feel like I'm too old to be this invested in these Fanfiction worlds, especially since some of what I read is cartoon or comic fics. Most of my friends don't even watch sci-fi, let alone cartoons. But I also feel that I am not so old that I should deny myself any guilty pleasure that is so simply non-destructive...
I appreciate that everyone is creative and I enjoy expressing my own thoughts and reading those of others.
In addition to writing, I express myself through other 'crafty' means like designing jewelry, pottery, and making collages.
I love Halloween. Not just dressing up, but seeing the kids in costume and handing out the candy. It is one of my greatest joys.
I believe that everyone has at least one small mental illness; most of us have lots of them. We all do something that is either reckless or 'weird' to some, but not a real 'issue' to psychotherapists. These small mental illnesses are often shared by large groups, birds of a feather and all... Example? One of mine is that I take pics of my dogs wearing funny hats/costumes or with a background that has a holiday/seasonal theme. Lots of people pay a photographer to take the pics; they would share this mental illness with me. Being creative, I choose to take the pics myself.
Some of my others are bungee jumping, zip-lining, snorkeling, rappelling and if given the chance, I would love to skydive and base jump. The idea of running straight off a cliff, free-falling then parachuting to the ground... Awesome! Those that don't share my enthusiasm would call me 'crazy', underlining that these desires are one of my small mental illnesses.
Other examples (that are not mine, but those of others) are participating in outdoor winter sports, riding motorcycles without a helmet, racing with anything motorized, participating in rodeos, scuba diving (wait, yeah, I did that one too), etc...
Well you get the idea; it's doing something that gives you a thrill and is either weird (dog pics) or it is potentially, personally dangerous. Yet, these mental illnesses are not classified as such by psychiatrists. Mostly, they are not considered by the masses to be self-destructive, like doing drugs or binge drinking. But let's face it, doing something like diving with sharks, (which I would love, love, LOVE to do) at least potential to be self-destructive.
Regarding this, my personal philosophy is embrace those small mental illnesses that make you uniquely you.
Some might consider taking one's own dirty, sexy fantasies (or personal experiences), expressing them through fictional characters and posting them on the internet to be 'crazy'. Thus, I am proud to say it's just another of my mental illnesses.
One of my (totally random) mantras is that life is too short to sleep on cheap sheets or use small, scratchy towels. So, pony up the dough for those 800 thread count sheets and some really nice, fluffy bath sheets (go for the BIG ones).
No matter when a story was written, I comment on it if I think the writing is deserving. As readers, we're all looking for something to move us, to make a connection. If writing speaks to me, I want to speak back.
A quote I love (I heard it was Eleanor Roosevelt, but have not ever confirmed):
No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
