I'm one of those aspiring writers who uses fanfiction for a break from the pressures of everyday life...
After a long hiatus from...writing in general - Its been almost two years horrifying to think about really - I've returned to my roots-my writing began on ff.net almost twelve years ago... scary I know -- and now its time to make my return. And what better way than to return to the very root of my fandom beginnings.
I'm talking of course about the Powerpuff Girls : Back in the days when I was struggling with the awkward adolescence years and fitting in and way back before " Gamer Girls" were accepted, I had dropped more or less every fandom I love(d) kept my gaming persona tightly under wraps and my writing was under the same scrutiny (only a few so called close friends knew I was a writer at all) and I more or less kept my entire geeky self a secret - including the animes I loved, shows I loved, video games I adored and well basically the story every adolescent female lives through at some point in their life I lived.
In my desire to fit in I gave up everything I was.
Nowadays I can look back, cringe, wish I could just go back and give my poor little past self a big hug and assure her how awesome being a "Geek" really is - but alas as they have yet to invent such a wonderful device one must simply learn from harsh lessons learned from life and take a giant step forward.
But... looking back as a recent graduate is wont to do I realized something... rather remarkable. That indeed there was ONE fandom...I never really left... mostly because I hadn't even known one existed to leave ( XD ). And of course I'm talking about the Powerpuff Girls. The one show that without fail I'd always watch- whether a rerun was on Boomerang or Cartoon Cartoon Fridays ( wow did I just age myself...) and to this day still gets a chuckle or snicker out of me - seriously...back then those shows could get dirty. The things that went flying over my little girl brain back then... whoo boy.
And so... with this odd discovery- and my discovery that there is INDEED a PPG fandom out there- I think it only makes... well sense that at the end of my hardcore fanfiction days ( after all I DO want to be published someday) to go back to my very first Fandom I ever had. And Thus I shall.
NOTE: Legend of Zelda continues to be my favorite game series of all time and perhaps someday I'll return to my... -albeit to be heavily edited and less dramatized- Zelda fiction. But.. now I can't even look at it without cringing so... it'll be a while.
