Time does not heal all wounds. Still raw from his loss of Cortana during his first mission on Requiem, John 117 decides to return with the UNSC Infinity and Fireteams Crimson and Majestic for answers. What he finds instead is a woman with a key to his past as well as his future.

'Outcast', 'forsaken', 'filthy' - just some of the words used to describe Tennar Weyr. The whole of Pern looks down on the weyr that houses the mutants; colours that aren't meant to exist: Yellow, Prism, Silver and even the Black Kings. The weyrfolk expect a difficult life, but after one eventful hatching, something seems to have been set in motion. Non-canon.

When UNSC forces intercept Storm Covenant chatter about a superweapon, they hire a private mercenary contractor to stop them. The mercenaries find a weapon of horrifying power and the leaders of the Storm, who will stop at nothing to get it. Success means an unimaginable amount of credits. Failure means destruction of humanity's space faring fleet. Starting with the UNSC Infinity.

"Gasping as air rushed back to him, he fought the blackness of his vision and tried to focus on the soft footfalls approaching him. The last thing he saw before he lost consciousness was a face that was more familiar to him than his own. Impossibly so. "

This story starts off where Noble Six has to get Cortana to Keyes and protect the Pillar of Autumn from getting blown by the Covenant. I was actually close to tears when I got to the end of it. I think listening to Florence the Machine (fantastic band btw) kinda triggered that.

The war is over. Peace has no place for war-torn Spartans; John-117 is retired to live civilian life anonymously, if he can. But after years of destruction, can this man learn to create instead of destroy? Will he ever be able to let go of his demons and mourn his brothers and sisters? Or will humanity need its Master Chief back for a battle that may prove to be John's last?
