Author has written 13 stories for Mass Effect.
When I have some time during vacation, I write, and I'd like to improve my writing style. Plus, there have been some good samples of creative writing here. Check out my follows if you don't believe me :)
Name: V-rcingetorix, but you can call me Chuck
Occupation: Full time student, musical mercenary, lover of good books, amateur photographer, beta reader (on occasion), Lab worker, liberator of tasty snacks and barbecue aficionado.
Hobbies: Games, books and hiking. I love Mass Effect (even if I consider the ME3 ending to be terribly written), Dragon Age, the Batman Arkham series, XCOM, SWTOR, Planetside 2, and most recently, League of Legends. Look me up as Chucklestheelf if you want a match :)
Favorite books: I read pretty widely, but love the classics. Robinson Crusoe, Swiss Family Robinson, The Counte of Monte Cristo, Rangers Apprentice series, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, His Majesty's Dragon series and more.
Reason for writing: Whatever doesn't kill you makes you ... stranger. I enjoy writing, and am trying to improve my skills. My collegiate career requires me to have at least a modicum of analytical writing, and I'd like to improve that with some constructive criticism. Destructive criticism is acceptable as well, but more than likely ignored.
July 17, 2015; next chapter is in the works, slowly being set up. This is a big one, so I have it set in two parts. Soon as possible, I will publish it. Thank you for your patience, operators are ... well ... kinda standing by. More like standing over the watercooler, debating philosophy, but I'm sure we're in the subject line somewhere!
July 9, 2015; a huge response, much bigger than I'd anticipated. So here is mine: new chapter coming up soon, with a view towards starting the Mass Effect Proper. Still working on a Collab work with F13D and Andotrota, which is going very well, stay tuned for updates!
July 4th, 2015; Happy 4th of July! Progress is progressing, although not as fast as I'd like. My summer classes are over, and I've been getting chores done that have needed doing for a while.
I set up a poll for what I am going to do next, in regards to the continued series. If you want to throw in your two bits, feel free! End results are not binding, but should be considered to heavily influence my decision. Thanks all!
June 2, 2015; On the third chapter already! And, on chapter 8 of the collaboration work! That is a bit of fast writing, although most of the collab credit belongs to F13D and Andotrota. I am modifying some of my older works now, whipping them into shape as it were.
May 23, 2015; Classes are over! Well, most of them. Taking a summer course, and finishing my History degree next semester. Biology degree follows soon, I hope. Enough about me: to writing! I have finished the first pair of chapters, and am working through the next couple. I am also doing a collaboration with the enthusiastic F13D and cunning Andotrota! A Mass Effect Endwar crossover; I was a bit reluctant at first, but F13D's boyish energy and Andy's persuasive laconic logic persuaded me. Send me a PM if you have questions!
April 15, 2015; Tax Day! For all of you whom do not file taxes ... I envy you. For all that do, I salute you.
In other news, the writing of ME1 goes well. My timeline has been re-checked and corrected, while my Organic Chemistry course is doing its best to besiege my writing schedule with unnecessary distractions. Seriously, who needs to know the product of an amine with a carboxyl group? I hope someone can tell me, someday. At any rate, I've also been busy with a number of projects, now that my Senior Seminar is over. Grad school is looming in the future ... but I have another semester or two before that can happen.
Also ... another laptop bit the dust. I'm seriously looking into Lemon Laws. The desktop I built from scratch has lasted longer than 'professionally manufactured' laptops. Not as mobile, but still ...
TLDR version: Still writing, still playing. Life is good.
Feb. 1, 2015; Happy February! I've finished the ME1 timeline, and am over half done with the first chapter, at least the first version of it. A number of people have been kind enough to allow me to bounce ideas off of them (NightStride, F13D, matze3), for which I thank them. My work is turning a bit more AU than I'd originally intended, but that's acceptable to me. I love this stage, the pure flow of creative beginnings, the logic streaming throughout the story, showing where should happen when et al. Hope y'all are doing well!
January 9, 2015; Sorry about the lack of updates. I am almost done with the final chapter (it's been to the beta once already), but I want it to be done perfectly. I've also been a little distracted writing on the next series, haven't decided on a title yet. Any suggestions? Thank you all for your patience. I will do my best to make it worth your time!
December 11, 2014; laptop is in the shop, but the next chapter is up, and I am writing again! If you have some free time, you might want to check out some authors I've found to be skilled writers. Fainmaca has an AU that is incredibly written, and Random Equinox is one of the best writers I have seen on this site. Take a gander, I dare you ;)
November 21, 2014; my laptop just died, and I am in the process of getting Windows Office for my gaming desktop. Fortunately, I have copies of everything I wrote, so nothing is lost. As soon as I get the new software installed, I will continues writing. Sorry about the delay :(
November 14, 2014; Chapter 20 is up, and my abstract is finished! Now I just have to finish rewriting the next chapter, my PowerPoint presentation for
November 1, 2014: For the first time in 16 weeks, I have failed to put up a new chapter for the week. I can only offer my deepest apologies, and say that my scholastic endeavors are taking up my time. I have three chapters on the back burner right now, with one sent to my beta, so I should have another chapter up fairly soon.
Again, sorry about the wait.
September 28, 2014: Chapter 15 is up, and we are getting closer to the end. I've been going over my earlier chapters, and I like to think my writing has been getting better ... but now I have literally over 20 different stories I want to read. Some of them have sequels; between those, my homework and my job, life will be very full. Oh well, better than the opposite, right?
September 21, 2014: Chapter 14 is up, and I am way behind in my updates, sorry. Life is going well, although very busy. Lab work, music hirings (I am a musical mercenary after all) and of course, homework are conspiring to keep me from writing. Fortunately, I am combating their plans with generous doses of FanFic readings and some very encouraging reviews. Thanks guys (and gals), you rock!
Here is a list of my published works, along with a brief description:
My very first fanfic. Canon Shepard, Mindoir survivor.
To the Nth Degree
Continuing Canon Shepard's journey as an N school operative, not my best, but entertaining in part at least :)
The culmination of Canon Shepard's N school journey. An experiment on how far I could take Shepard without losing the Shepard feel.
Shepard on Akuze. How far can Shepard go without cracking?
Just Another Job
A story about one of my fave characters, Wrex!
Thane's meeting of Irikah. There aren't enough Thane fics on here, so I added my humble efforts to the fray.
Worst Mother's Day
Entry for the Aria's Afterlife Contest, Canon Shepard's mother recounts her experiences to a descendant.
Shepard is required to train with members of the Asari Elite. Awkwardness abounds.
Thane makes it home in time to save his wife from being murdered. Logical progression from there.
AU fiction I am currently working upon. Humans discover the Ruins soon after landing on Mars, rather than waiting 40 years.
A little story for publicizing a rare medical condition.
