Author has written 12 stories for Legend of Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Tales of the Abyss, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Trauma Center, Discworld, Homestuck, Team Fortress 2, Portal, and Bible.
I've given up on replying to anonymous reviewers.
I've been planning to write fanfics for ages. I got tired of Mary Sues and made my own unique twist of a parody Sue. I still don't have the time to write it. Her name is Marilynne de Souza. Well, I did have time to write her, but I ran out of crack and quit.
My username comes from two of my characters, neither of which you will probably ever find in a fanfic.
My sanity is questionable, and sometimes I'm not even sure of what I'm thinking. I will probably write a trollfic simply filled with horribleness. I am perfectly capable of emotions, but I don't always think I'm doing it right. One of the reasons for coming on Fanfiction.net is to improve my blunt prose. Please criticize.
I go on TvTropes. You should too. I like many things. I also dislike many things, but they are easier to list: I don't like fanfic matchups that don't make sense: For example, TF2 Sniper and Spy only make sense if you take vast liberties to their characteristics, or if you make them Homestuck trolls. I don't like Justin Beiber. I heard a couple of his songs and didn't like them, okay? I don't like it when someone seriously pairs up a character who is not the relationship forming type with an OC. (What? Rorschach from Watchmen and Mary Sue?) I don't like profanity. I don't like people insulting Christianity. I don't like established characters acting OOC. I don't like people who like yaoi pairings for no other reason than the fact it's homosexual. They don't seem to care if the prose is good, or if the characters are IC in the slightest. They're the ones who will say "That was beautiful" even if the writer himself admits it was meant to be a crackfic. This has actually happened.
I actually don't mind Yaoi/Yuri pairings, or homosexuality in general myself, as long as they are canon and the characters involved are officially homosexual or have left their sexuality up to interpretation.
There are only two non-canon pairings that I actually like and that I may or may not write a story to ship them. Spoilers at your own risk.
Katara/Zuko from Avatar:The Last Airbender TV show/Cartoon (Zutara)
- They were initially meant to be canon. This means that they were literally made for each other and it shows. Their personalities work really well with each other and it's a shame they're not a canon couple.
CR-S01 (Erhardt)/ Maria Torres: Trauma Team game from Trauma Center series
-There are a few reasons I like that pairing.
One, their personalities fit well together. CR-S01 could bear being a bit more outgoing with people, and Maria needs someone to calm her down a little and keep her from killing anyone (figuratively; she's not going to kill anyone). A bit of character development and they're a wonderful couple.
Two: Rosalia. Maria knew her and Rosalia's CR-S01's adopted sister. It gives them something to connect with, talk to each other, and sympathize about.
Three: The events of the game. The story does some of the work of bringing them together already, even if they aren't a canon pair.
Four: They're both orphans. True, this doesn't account for much, but they can really relate with each other in that aspect.
Dorian Gray/ Basil: The Picture of Dorian Gray
-Hey look, characters who are actually gay! And one has a confirmed romantic interest with the other! By which I mean Basil seems to love Dorian as more than a friend. Look at what he put up with for him, what he was willing to rebuke him on. The only person with both morals and a degree of sense in the entire book who actually stayed with him and, as cliche as it sounds, believed in him. Though those beliefs were unfounded and irrational, nobody who has read the book could deny them. All the 'oh Dorian, tell me it isn't true!' and the 'you can save yourself, let me save you' kind of things near the end...
-If Dorian were willing to let Basil be his lover, or even his friend, the ending would be much different. Yeah, less impact-ful on a thematic perspective, but not bad. I want to see an AT (alternate timeline) with this pair. It would give a completely different meaning and development to the story.
-However, as with every pairing ever, I will NOT like a story just because it has the pairing. There has to be character development, not just them smashing their faces together and saying loving things. Y'know, like the majority of romances out here. And please don't just write smut. That is the worst.
There are people I don't ship. Then there are people I oppose to shipping. Then there are these. Hold your horses, I know I will have to defend them more than I defend my ships. So I will.
Sniper/Spy: Team Fortress 2
Sniper and Spy. Their interactions are absolutely wonderful, whether they are the closest of fire-forged friends, the bitterest mutually detested rivals, or anything in between. Or even enemies, if you want to have inter-team interactions. But there is one thing they don't do well: Romance.
Even if they were both gay/bi/whatever, they don't really work as a couple. At all. The best romance fic I've seen with this pairing (Yes, I have read them, no matter how much I wish not to) had to go and change their characters significantly, and still wasn't interesting. Sorry, but it's true.
One: Scout's mom. The affair seems to be serious. Serious to the point where Spy is all but confirmed to be Scout's dad. Though Valve could still potentially pull a fast one on us, it's unlikely. But even if Spy mysteriously broke up with Scout's mom, or she Died For Your Ship, the pairing still doesn't work.
Two: Their personalities. The core of every romance, and really this should be number one, but I'm doing this in a vaguely chronological order according to the list of problems one would face in an attempt to pair these two. Spy would find Sniper far too unrefined for his tastes. Sniper would find Spy too pompous. Take a moment to listen to their voice lines, specifically their domination lines. Read (or re-read) the comics. They. Don't. Work. As. A. Couple. For some of the same reasons Minifett's character Spyper is absolutely wonderful, Spy/Sniper doesn't really work as a ship. Though I don't like shipping ANY of the mercs, even if one or more of them are female, this goes tenfold for Sniper and Spy.
Sherlock Holmes/Joan Watson: Elementary (TV Show)
If this became a romantic couple, it is my opinion that it will ruin the entire show and destroy its very premise. They are friends. They care for each other.
And they are in no way romantically interested in each other. I have yet to see even a hint of romantic affection or attraction from them towards each other. People are allowed to be friends with other people of the gender they are attracted to. I'm not even going to say "just" friends because that implies that friendship is somehow an inferior relationship to a romantic one. Which, regardless of how many people tend to forget, it isn't.
To everyone thinking "Don't like don't read" I KNOW. I won't read them. I won't campaign against them or leave nasty reviews on why I don't like them.
Alternate alignments: Some people fall just outside of the Lawful/ChaoticGood/Evil spectrum, but not enough to classify as Blue/Orange. Here's one.
The "Stupid" alignment addition:
Lawful Stupid: "I obey the LAW and only the LAW. If it is not covered in the rulebook, I have NO IDEA what to do."
Chaotic Stupid: "I call myself Chaotic because I think it's cool, and I barely even know what chaotic means other than 'doing random stuff' And random stuff is all I do."
Stupid Evil: "I think Chaotic Evil means being evil just for being evil! So I am just going to kill random people and kick everyone's puppies."
Stupid Good: "I think everything can be solved through diplomacy, and all the bad guys are totally trustworthy once they have a Heel-Face Turn. Because everyone's good on the inside!"
I like writing humorous stories and parodies. You don't need to write seriously to be a serious writer.
Hey look I have trollfics.
