![]() Author has written 6 stories for Naruto, Inuyasha, and Fullmetal Alchemist. Hey I'm The Fox Sage, I also go by BeowulfTheFoldingChairSage or just Beowulf, I've been an active member of the site and the fanfiction space for over 12 years now and in that time I've read thousands of stories over the years in dozens of fandoms. Although my true loves in fanfiction will always be Ranma 1/2 and Naruto, with romance stories around said series main couples being my favorite. There's something so intimately beautiful about the love between Ranma and Akane that I cant help but love every story that involves them coming together whether its a canon continuation or a drastically different AU, I love Them all the same and the series remains my favorite of all time. I'm big on stories with a solid romance element to them, while not being as into plot driven stories vs their character driven counterparts. It's why I'm a much bigger fan of say Silent Horse and Into The Light then Hearts of Ice or the Without A Trace Trilogy when it comes to Ranma fics, stories like that while good almost focus far too much on their overarching narrative while neglecting the character interactions and the enjoyment of the journey over the destination. While I adore longer fics, theres a way to do it well; A story should always have a purpose that makes it's length justifiable, getting a couple together early and then spending the rest of the 70 chapters not really showing more relationship depth then innuendos and characters giving each other do me eyes in the background after getting married while shipping the rest of the cast or having the whole story be a canon continuation focusing on something completely irrelevant to the core series after getting said ship together . Sorry to throw Happily Ever After and Second Time Around under the bus but they are unfortunate examples of stories that have length the without substance or passion in how characters interact to match, the couples in both stories especially Ranma and Akane feel like they are just going through the motions without spark or passion and have almost taken a back burner to things happening to the side characters in either story. When an 5000 word story can impart more love and emotion then a 500,000 word story, something is wrong. Stories like No More Pussyfooting around and Saotome Sisters make far better use of their long length with a good mix of passion in relationships and interesting plot points. I have plenty of other series with romance elements big and small like inuyasha(my first anime actually),Rurouni Kenshin, Komi, Uzaki-chan Kenichi The mightiest Disciple, Etc that I love but none that I relate to and adore as much as Ranma 1/2. |
