Author has written 5 stories for Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, and Law and Order: SVU.
I love reading fanfiction and my favorites are L&O: SVU. Thank you, amen.
What I Hate About FanFiction.Net:
Page Long Author's Notes.
If I ever have one, send me as many flames as possible until I remove it. A few lines at the beginning, fine. A paragraph or two, sure! But if you're A/N is longer than your actual chapter! Argh! That drives me freaking insane! I get so excited to see at the beginning of the chap that there are 4,546 words only to find out that 3,000 of those words have are A/N's!
Post's That Aren't Updates.
If you aren't going to update... don't freakin update! I don't need a freaking Author Alert in my mailbox from someone saying, "Sorry, I haven't updated in a while (Insert Excuse/Reason Here)." WTF?! I got all excited because I thought I was getting a new chapter only to find out I have to read some crap about why I'm getting an alert about not getting a new chapter? Waah, I'm getting a ton of PM's about a story I'm not going to continue. So what? Delete 'em! They'll figure it out.
I can understand reading a story, and getting an idea for your own. Hell that's basically what FF is about. Playing with other people's character's and things. But straight up taking other's people's direct storylines and slapping your name on them and taking credit? Not cool!
Acronyms and Fic-Speak.
OOC, I get. OC, I get. But WTF?! Naruto(what?), Lemon-fic(is it sour), !(if you add an exclamation point, it means...????), and HSV and TWBN, chicken-fic, Florida Keys-fic(yes, I'm making crap up now). This is mainly person, simply because I don't understand half the terms and I don't wanna google every freaking thing all the time!
Anonymous Flamer Reviewers
Now I understand that not everyone has an account here, so some people try to review and do it anonymously. What I hate, is those p*ssy's who leave review's like "This fic is so horrible that you should stop writing and your mother should be killed." under some random as name, that has no account attached because, they hide behind their computer. In real life, they are miserable puddles of scum that are afraid of their own shadows, and wouldn't dare talk to a person like that to their face. They are so lame, that they couldn't even take it if their bad review on a WEBSITE was replied to personally, so... they make up lame names like IamGod, or YouSuckHard and try to tear down all your hard work. I've seen a couple of writers on here get so frustrated that they discontinued or actually removed their stories. Keep in mind peeps you can delete anonymous reviews, and disable anonymous reviews if they bother you much. I have!!
Flamers With Seperate Flame Accounts
These little b*tches who open accounts just to flame people and call them weak or crybabies because they can't take a flame. This was on one of said flamer's profile page:
"You probably came here because of a review I gave you... And just saying, this isn't my real account.
Don't act like a wimp and send me a PM saying I'm a meanie or something. You know what? You could, but that'd just make me happier.
So...SHUT UP AND TAKE THE FLAMES!"
Who's acting like a WIMP?! You're sending flames behind hiding behind a fake account, because you don't want to deal with the repercussions of someone FLAMING your ass back! If it would make you happier, why you gotta hide? P*SSY!
Now, now. Before you bite my head off, let me explain. I like Author's who give an incentive. "More reviews may help me write faster!" "My 100th reviewer will get a special shout out!" Face it, every author wants to know if you like what they're writing. If you're getting a ton of hits, and no reviews, it does tend to suck, so "If I'm getting no reviews I may not continue." sounds fair, right? What I HATE is "If you don't review, then I QUIT!" or "I don't get PAID to do this, so if you guys don't start reviewing, I'm not going to continue this story." Excuse me? What? You CHOSE to write and post here, just like people CHOOSE whether to read your story or not. If you're STILL getting a ton of hits, obviously people are reading and enjoying your story. There is a way to ask for a review, and you've gotta face the fact that every person that reads your story is not going to review it. If you can't handle that, get off the site.
As I am guilty of such crimes, I will say nothing on the subject except... that it sucketh.
