![]() Author has written 18 stories for Sailor Moon, G. I. Joe, Oh My Goddess!, and Midsomer Murders. Hi, me again. Greg Kyhn, age 52, Calgary Alberta, Canada. Has it really been five years since my last attempt at trying to write again? Can't blame people for giving up, which is what I've done it seems. Gone through so much in the last few years with watching both my father and Uncle die from cancer, having to renovate and sell my home or be foreclosed on, moving to a new place after living in the old one for 30 years, quitting my job, and being on my own. Does slow the output down, doesn't it? Suffice it to say I've been quite depressed over the last five years, and everything I once enjoyed, especially my writing, has become banal and meaningless. No promises, but I'm trying to start up again. I will leave the stories I have posted here, as they are my finished works. There are a few of my other stories that I've made many attempts to finish over the years including a few odd crossovers: G.I. Joe/Sailor Moon: This was planned out (in my mind at least) as a trilogy under the banner Terror Without Borders. Cobra was invading Japan and the Sailor Senshi nearly become early victims of the war that ensues. They end up allying with GI Joe to fight for their country. Part one was done and had the Senshi joining G.I. Joe. Part two was the trite 'The Sailor Senshi go to America' plot where they go to GI Joe's HQ 'The PIT' to be formally trained, Joe style, complete with formal military ranks and the lot. My mistake was trying to tie the story too closely with the 'disavowed' GI Joe comics from Devil's Due Publishing. I was three-four chapters from the end, and I thought it was getting good, but my life started getting bad, as did the whole GI Joe story at that point. Massive redo time. Also tried doing a story with the Joes and the Senshi facing the return of Sailor Moon's (possibly) greatest enemy, Queen Beryl, returning and leading an army in her quest for vengeance. Holy Mother of God did that turn into a fiasco. May become the third part of the trilogy, but not in the state the story is in. Total rewrite. Ah! My Goddess/Witch Hunter Robin: interesting premise, I thought, about Robin Sena trying to become a stronger, more confident person, both through adversity and with the help of some new friends who technically should be enemies according to the parameters of her job as a hunter. I'm not much into the whole Anime/Manga thing anymore but I should finish this story, I guess. Ah! My Goddess/NCIS: overly ambitious and different story (I thought) with the Goddesses in America (okay a bit trite again) and Skuld and her android Sigel witnessing the murders of a Navy Admiral and an NCIS agent. Again, I thought the story was getting off to a promising start, but I just lost interest in writing after everything I was going through the last few years. Not to mention all the changes that NCIS has gone through in the last few years with a few characters in the story leaving for one reason or another and new characters coming in. The AMG manga is finished as well but it had been going downhill for a long time if I am honest and my interest wasn't there anymore. For the opposite reasons that NCIS was going through, no character development, and new and forgettable characters showing up randomly, not to mention an exceptionally long and seemingly pointless set of stories. Set this one aside for now. So, I'll just try to write some new stuff at least. I don't lack ideas, just ambition. I'm going to try to move forward, not back and maybe try some different characters that I enjoy. I still like the GI Joe characters, but I'm thinking about a few of the old pulp characters like Doc Savage and The Shadow as well. A Doctor Who stories. Revisit a few old favorites as well. No promises, but I am going to try. Give this one last try anyway. I need to keep myself going somehow. Update 11/12/2016: reposted a few of my works in progress; Slices of Life (Oh! My Goddess) and Hooky (Sailor Moon). Looking at posting the first part of my GI Joe/Sailor Moon crossover trilogy Terror Without Borders. Just doing some editing. |
