Name: HiKari Bruder
Birthday: February 22
About Me: Oh snap! Did I just post a new story? Is this real life? "But Kari, I thought you were retired." That's a valid statement, nameless speaker. I was retired for nearly two years and I thought I would never return... at the same time, I was heading down a path to become a college professor and look how that turned out! I spent six years teaching and it was great, but I discovered it wasn't the path for me about a year and a half ago and now I'm on this new path and I'm not in grad school. What is the new path called? Not knowing what my life is about but also having a new perspective on life which has taught me that I want to spent my time having fun and doing things that I enjoy. One of those things just happened to be writing fanfiction so here I am, nearly two years later, posting the first chapter to a new story called "Wingman." I hope you guys enjoy it, but I also hope you check out Rena Redhead's new story, "Defying Destiny." Rena is the one that inspired me to get back into writing fanfiction and if you like what I write, you're gonna love her stories even more! Thank you for joining me on this new, strange chapter of my life and I hope you're excited to see where my story goes next.

"I write for the same reason I breathe--because if I didn't, I would die."-Isaac Asmiov
"When the writing is really working, I think there is something like dreaming going on. I don't know how to draw the line between conscious management of what you're doing and this state... I would say that's related to daydreaming. When I feel really engaged with a passage, I become so lost in it that I'm unaware of my real surroundings, totally invovled in the pictures and sounds that the passage evokes."-John Hersey
"Writing, I think, is not apart from living. Writing is kind of double living. The writer experiences everything twice. Once in reality and once in that mirror which waits always before or behind."-Catherine Drinker Bowen
"Writers are not just people who sit down and write. They hazard themselves. Every time you compose a book your composition of yourself is at stake."-E.L. Doctorow
"I am a writer and always was; being a writer is an integral part of my identity. Being published, being well regarded, is a component of that identity."-Brian Aldiss
"We write to taste life twice--once in the moment, and once in retrospection."-Anais Nin
Disclaimer: I never put one at the end of any of my stories. I'd like to have a better excuse for this but it's really only because I'm both lazy and forgetful. However, I would like to use this disclaimer for all my stories by saying that I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh! or any of its characters. Those belong to Kazuki Takahashi, the man whom created a series that made my childhood whole. The plot lines for these fan-based stories are, however, of my own creation and therefore, are mine.
